Golf Club of Houston - Member Course

If this course flowed a little better, I would have given it five stars. It's set on 450 acres, and the distances between 1 and 2, and 17 and 18 are very long, which makes it difficult for spectators during the Shell Houston Open. But the holes themselves are terrific and most memorable. There's nothing boring about this golf course, and the finishing stretch is among the best in golf, culminating with one of the best par 4s you'll ever play (water down the entire left side with a foreboding fairway bunker on the right). Best to time to play by the way is the winter or spring because the course is heavily overseeded. It really is a cool-season golf course.

One of Houston"s best course to play any day of week.The course conditions were perfect for this time of year,but a little windy.This is a bucket list type of course so if you get the chance go play It!!. I would recommend this course to anyone that loves to play. Great value for the money

I was disappointed that the club did not make any prior announcement about the course being cart path only until you get out there. This is their policy until the PGA tournament in April, which is four months away. The course condition can be characterized as furry since they are growing the greens and fairways so that they can cut it short for the upcoming tournament. If this is their standing policy to have cart path only four months out, it would be nice to know ahead of the time. For over $100 even at a discounted rate, I would not recommend this course for my friends and certainly won't pay that to play again. The concession stand only offers hot dogs, so bring your own lunch if hot dog is not your thing.

Great PGA championship course that was in great shape. We had to take a caddy, I wasn't sure about using a caddy but Adam was knowledgeable, encouraging, and his advice was spot on. The greens were slow but true. The pace of play was fantastic! It felt like we had the course to ourselves. A little expensive with a caddy but we were on vacation and truly enjoyed our experience!

The boys in the Pro Shop were very nice and courteous and very helpful. After I got out on the course the fairways grass was so tall it was almost like being in the rough. It started raining pretty hard on the 2nd hole and I had to wait awhile for it to pass. After starting back up when I got to the 7th hole a grounds person was mowing the green and he stopped and waved me to hit but just stayed on the green while I hit. On my second shot on to the green he just kept mowing while I was trying to hit and wouldn't quit mowing. Very distracting while trying to hit. I was pretty po'ed and just left the whole giving him a piece of my mind. Then on the 17th whole I was fixing to hit my 3rd shot up on the green and one of the groundsmen comes up and cuts a new hole while I am fixing to hit and pulls the flag out while I am yelling at him so he sticks the flag back in and just stands there. I am so frustrated at him I just gave him a piece of mind and went on to 18. Was very disappointed that I paid $100. Will not play it again and would not recommend it to anyone. Very over rated in my opinion.

Course has an interesting layout and fast greens. Very good shape. Caddie was not much help on ereading the putts

Course was in good condition, maybe not the perfection you expect for this type of course. Got rained out at 14, can't stop mother nature but by the time you pay fees and caddy you are getting close to $10 per hole in these cases.

Was first time played here, had a great time, caddie was very helpful . Wil come back to play again.

I got to experience playing with two of my sons on a hot summer day at the best course in town. Our fore caddie was outstanding and made the experience for them great. The course was in great condition as usual and what you should expect from a PGA Tournament course. The Golf Now Hot Deal made it very affordable and both sons really enjoyed getting to play the course. The course is set up to challenge all skill levels by selecting the tee you decide to play. The staff was very nice and allowed us to rent an extra cart so the wives could ride a long and enjoy the day with us! A great day all around, and the food was good also! Location of the halfway house is perfect with very nice staff.

This course is always in great condition. Plus, I've never had less than tremendous service in any of my 5 or 6 rounds at the course. They realize it is a dream for many golfers to play where the TOUR pros play, and their staff treats you right!

Actually was rained out the last time I played. The fairways and greens were in great shape despite the continous rain.

There was a rain delay and the staff did a great job making sure that everyone was taken care of.

The course sits on a great piece of property and has a variety of holes that provide quite a challenge.

I really enjoy coming here.

We have charged the hidden cost and paid it reluctantly.

Our play was stopped due to lightning, but we did not get a rain check.

The Tournament course, although challenging, was not maintained well AT ALL. The idea of playing the same course as the pros is cool and all, but when Tour 18 is only 3 miles away, I would not go back to the GCH. Fairways were covered in dirt patches, greens were lazily maintained, and we had to play the back 9 twice because of green aeration. The tournament course seemed to be let go and is only really worked on when it comes Shell Houston Open time... As you drive by, the member course looks PERFECT and I would love to play that course. It looks beautiful.

Some of the fairways were bare due to the summer grass not coming in yet. The bunkers could use some sand also. The greens were in good shape and recovering from the aeration.

My twosome was paired with another twosome and they slowed down the pace quit a bit.

The four caddie we had was excellent.

The round started with no one at bag drop. No big deal. We carried our clubs around to the carts. Mentioned this to the pro in the pro shop and were told " that's not my area of responsibility". Really? Course conditions were horrible. I understand no grass where stands were set up but a lot of the fairways were dirt (not dead grass....dirt). Many of the other fairways look like they hadn't been mowed since the Shell Open. Not good to be in the middle of the fairway in rough length grass. Guess I should have been pleased there was any grass. Glad the greens fees were discounted but at $60 it was still overpriced. Have never played a muni course with fairways this bare. If they are not going to maintain the course while they transition to their cool weather grass, just close it like they do at TPC Sawgrass.
