Shorecliffs Golf Club
About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

would have had a better score of it wasn't for the first two holes Photo submitted by champ471 on 06/17/2014
Horrible Course!
The course was in horrible condition! Never was told that the course was under construction. Two of the whole was eliminated. They tried to replace the two hole on the par 5 which the split up into a par four and a par 3. Very disappointed. If I would of known I would of book somewhere else.
A Change Owners Need To Invest
Golf needs improvement. Greens are fast and fun to putt. Fairways are beat need maintenance.
Shorecliff “Oh My Gosh”
The course was under construction and the signage for the holes was bad. Confusing course. I wouldn’t recommend the course to anyone till construction was done. Food was good. Staff friendly. The carts in bad shape. We made the best of it and had fun anyway. BUT it definitively would have been better if course was in better shape
play extremely slow we quit after 12 holes. Fairways were rough. Lots of construction on the course. insufficient signage for construction.
We will not go back
Course has had to adjust layout because of flooding in past. A few holes are turned from a par five to a three and a five. Still for the price it is a fun track with good reliable greens.
Perfect greens, everything else very poor
The short version - they laid out a golf course in the middle of a subdivision in too small of an area. It's basically an executive course with perfect greens. Very, very tight. Very slow, as well. I also slipped and fell walking from 17 green to 18 tee. I didn't want to walk through the tunnel because I was worried about this, but there was a fence blocking my path over the road.
Shore Cliffs
Greens in good shape, but that was all. The fairways and tee boxes are terrible. It seems that they only pay attention to the greens. Two holes are closed and they cut tow other holes in half, which is also terrible.
The prices however do not reflect the existing changes or conditions. It was always a cheap low end course but with these changes they should have lower the price to reflect the poor conditions & reduction in play.
Practice course only
I can’t remember the course ever being complete it’s always under repair due to flood or landslide or something. The staff was very friendly it’s a fun course to go out and just hit the ball around don’t expect much. The range is iffy and the range balls are horrible the course needs a complete redo but you still have to go out and hit a shot and put the ball in the hole again it’s a good practice course only. Sorry to be blunt.
Fore!!
If you are a somewhat of a serious golfer steer clear of this place. Poor amenities, unorganized staff, below average course conditions. Started at 10:45, finished at 4:00. My expectations were low being that it was $45, but still was disappointed. Too bad because it is a nice layout and great location.
disappointed
was much better 1 year ago. needs substantial improvements.
Awesome local course
Never had a bad experience at this local favorite. Ted in pro shop is the most friendly and accommodating gentleman you'll ever meet. All the folks I've ever been paired with, a pleasure to play with. Last round, we were stuck behind a foresome of teens, two were beginners and the group had little to no courtesy for pace of play.
Sunday funday
Even with hole 5 and 6 under repair the coarse plays well. The temporary holes are well maintained and play moved on well.
Temporary layout.
Greens are back to where one could claim "the best in south orange county" and most of the mess has been hauled away; but still too many wet spots without any rain so it is self caused. To many areas that should be ground under repair are mark as a red hazard; without adjusting slope etc.??? Still a good value and usually near perfect weather.
God inexpensive course
Old course supposed to do a remodel someday. Couple of holes are messed up,fairways are ok but greens are in good shape w true roll. Fun day and worth the price.
Needs some love
Unfortunately this place needs a lot of work. Its an odd course par 69 with some older par 5s split into a 3 and 4 to make up for some missing holes. Its not worth playing in current condition. Positives, has potential, there are some picaboo ocean views and the greens were reasonable. Good chipping practice area.
Under construction
Course seems to be under massive construction... there are are at least 2 holes closed and those hole have been made up by separating longer hold into 2... pace was great because there was no one around us...
Keeps getting better
The more I play this local course the better it gets. This Our best course for practicing your game. Great prices, you can usually get out alone if you want too in the am. The course itself is 3 1/2 hours to play. It has a great back 9 and truth be told the greens are as good as any super expensive course I’ve played within the last few weeks.
Food- good
Carts - slow
Greens- good contain, true roll
Fairways- good condition
Tee boxes- needs some work
Staff- old school and cool as a polar bears toe nails
The facility is quintessential 1970’s golf club. When you walk down the hallway it reminds you of the budget country club with the old cigarette machine and bottle soda machine. I kinda like it. They will be getting a new clubhouse but the old rag tag clubhouse feels like this is where you come to play golf. This is not a place to impress your friends. This is a place to come shoot some golf because you love the game and want a hassle free time for a good price.
My first review wasn’t the greatest here but after playing here multiple times and seeing what other courses have to offer I understand the value that Shorecliffs brings for the price. Make sure you go in the afternoon though, I like having a quiet course at 7 am on weekdays.
Great staff, good greens but that’s it! Suffers from NO maintenance or investment!
RE-jigged for mud slides not properly advertised, cost for this course not justified.
Storm sewers function as travel tunnels.
Save your $$$, play someplace quality like Arrowwood !
