About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Terrible
Told me the course was closed and wouldn’t allow us to play but never provided me a refund. We were in California for the week from Michigan. Jerks.
Fairways and greens are in great shape
I was in the first groups out in the fairways and greens are looking great. Of course, managers are putting a lot of effort into making sure that the course is in great shape for this season and it looks good already. The greens were rolling true and got faster as the dew burned off. Great course with rolling hills. Also had a great breakfast burrito at the turn.
Fairways need mending
Course fairways were in rough condition. Slow play not monitored. Over priced for facilities. Driving range is a mile away and rough rough. Cart locked up on path then cycled power and next died completely. Cycled batteries and got in to run until they brought another one out 15 minutes later. Not a. Not on our reply list.
Great course but poor pace management
Booked a 1:20 PM teatime. Got through 12 holes in 3 1/2 hours. Six groups traffic jam at every tea box. Not a Marshall in sight. I like to play this course, but we left after 13 holes because of the slow pace of play.
Reasonable golf course
Compared to rates of other golf courses in neighborhood, Talega is still relatively reasonable. Most courses have steeply jacked up their prices. Not justified. Talega offers good value for money and an enjoyable course design.
Good Round
Tee boxes, Fairways and Greens could use some love, but i would play it again. Liked the layout and location
Meh
Tee boxes were rough and unkempt, fairways were soggy. Not worth $142.
Talega
I’ve played Talega a lot of the last 5 years and this last round over the weekend, felt like I was playing on a muni. The course was torn up with maintenance flags, dust patches all over and mud in many places even though it hasn’t rained in months. The tee boxes were not clean and groomed and felt like I was playing off the rough in the fairway. Have had many great years there but think I’ll be passing up Talega now as it felt like we were playing shore cliffs which isn’t a compliment.
Punched greens and 5 hour round
Last straw with this course. Was full price online only to show up and them say sorry greens are punched we “forgot” to change it online. Slow pace over 5 hours, no beverage cart all all day and terrible conditions hitting of dirt or mud on tee boxes. Should not be able to collect a discounted $125 for that. Should be illegal lol.
