Shorecliffs Golf Club
About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

would have had a better score of it wasn't for the first two holes Photo submitted by champ471 on 06/17/2014
Under repair!
Although a good value for the money (I paid $15.00) The course is under major repair. The holes that are supposed to be there, are not. Don't even try to use a gps golf app as there are temporary holes and greens. I will play there again because of the price and available tee times.
Best bang for your buck!!
The course is a little quirky, but its fantastic. Greens are small but in tremendous shape!! Its a steal to play here, its Southern Cal. Played with 3 locals that helped out with directions to hit some shots, told me about the construction and of the changes being made, will definitely be back!
Course was in decent shape. Greens were nice, not as nice as everyone seems to rave about though. Course is missing two holes, so they split two of the longer ones and made four. Course is still definitely tough, with narrow fairways and small greens. Definitely an old school course. Enjoyed it for that reason. Will definitely play again, but will most likely wait until construction is finished.
tired course
The general condition of the course was disappointing. Fairways were patch, bumpy and quite wet in places. Greens were the only part of the course that were up to standard. It appears there are a couple of holes under construction so two par 5's have been turned into par3 and 4s.
Routing is goofy too. Kinda weird to travel between holes in water overflow tunnels.
Landslide messed up the flow.
I will give them the benefit of the doubt that it was Thanksgiving holiday. Greens were good and fast but Fairways were very narrow. I think the only person that benefited from this round was Callaway because the balls I had to purchase . Great course for the older locals. 150 to 200 yard straight pokes were the name of the game.
What’s Happened?
We have been playing this course for many years. This is the first time we never finished our round as a result of shocking marshaling. We had a 5 ball, a few 2 balls, a 1 ball and the rest. Please don’t let this gem become like all the others.
Not sure what’s happening at the halfway house. Used to be great food at great prices. Now mediocrity personified!! Poor quality. Ridiculous prices!!! You cannot charge $8 for a sub par burger and $8 for 3 little chicken strips. - you can buy a whole shocker for less than that! Go shopping at Costco perhaps you could offer better prices!
some holes are not perfect shpae because of under construction however fair price, only a few players, nice simple breakfast and fair price.
why not!!
Old school course
This place takes you back to the 60s. The club house reminds me of the tv show Happy Days but serves great inexpensive food with terrific people. The course can be quite narrow at times and there are 3or4 holes that are some of the most challenging in Orange county. Tee Boxes and Greens were fair to good and can be hard to read at times. This place is a lot of fun and is on our rotation. This place is a must if you want to play old school at fair price. POP 3 1/2
Awesome time
I did enjoy it a lot. Fun course. I definitely going back again. And yes I will recommend. If you play here grab an extra balls. I lost a few
Hackers Paradise- Just make sure not to hit homes
This is a hackers paradise, the cheap local course you can pick a round anytime and get it done for $18 on Golf Now. Driving range is short, balls are toast, putting area will work, chipping area not fancy but works. Kinda of a weird place, old school dive club, not much changed. The course conditions are average for a budget course. The greens where really good on some holes. You have to ride thru drainage tunnels which is odd and drive down what looks like horror movie alley ways at times, you have to remind yourself it’s a million dollar neighborhood. There are a few open ca fairways you can let loose and some narrows you have to get it right. Not much of a challenging course unless you are the challenge then it’s plenty challenging. Pace of play was great the first 9 and the back 9 was a traffic jam. I hear that’s the norm for that course. Oh yeah I almost forgot, the two best holes have been shut down for structural issues from the mountain homes above. They had to create two additional holes so they took two par 5 and simply cut the grass low and circular, stuck a pin in them and presto, there’s hole 12, lol. This is an option for cheap mid week play or wanting to get real time practice for the price of a bucket of balls.
Sick Greens
Most under rated course in California. I'm talking course not amenities (which are being upgraded soon). These are the best greens on the coast! Couple holes under construction but they still have 18 playable holes. Play now while its crazy reasonable!
Shorecliffs
Had a great time. Knowing the course is going through a bit of reconstruction, it is challenging to find the next hole. You have to be able to hit straight or you will lose balls. All-in-all me and my golf buddy enjoy this course. As my buddy said many times, it's like Mr Toads wild ride at Disneyland. If I could putt I would have done well.
State of "flux"
This course has always been a challenging track; with little "asthetics". But now with the closing of 5 and 6 is not as challenging and with the current renovations is downright ugly. There are wet spots where there should be none and additional trenches around the current drainage and tons of debris stacked up everywhere. The greens that were punched over a month ago are still not up to their usual excellence, but are for the most part playable. I still plan to play the course and hope for the best.
5th hole is blocked off
The 5th hole is blocked off so you have to turn around after the 4 and past the 4th and 3rd tee boxes. The guy on third tee hit a ball towards us. Your suppose to wait for the golfers coming back from the dead end 4th hole before you hit. FYI there was no mention of the 4th hole dead end when booked or got to the pro shop. I assume this will be ongoing for months since there regrading the 5th hole canyon.
Fun course
I’m really glad I played with someone who had played here, I’ve would’ve been lost. It’s a fun course and you get rewarded with good shots ( hit ‘em straight) it was a slow round but Saturday morning I expected that, I’d play here again
Not worth the drive
I was very disappointment with the condition of golf course they should let people know that some holes we're under renovation and the Fairway condition was very very poor... I thought I had a good deal, ( but naaa..) I'm coming from Santa Ana California and it was not worth the drive it is not worth more than $20 with cart
