Shorecliffs Golf Club
About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

would have had a better score of it wasn't for the first two holes Photo submitted by champ471 on 06/17/2014
Needs work
First time playing, uaually find myself in SD county. Course is in rough shape. Mud/ground under repair/uneven ground etc... on every fairway. Most tee boxes sit on uneven ground. Probably the worst value for money course I've played in SoCal.
Staff was excellent, parking lot and clubhouse great as well hence the two stars. Hope they can figure it out, price is way too high for the experience offered.
Thursday play
We were lead group.
Nice clubhouse.
Course still under construction.
Conditions were better before take over by Troon
If you are trying to quit golf, this course is for you.
The worst course I have ever played. It seems like every time I play here I tell myself I will never go back. Then after around 3-6 months, I get stuck wanting to golf, but not being able to find a tee time, except for this place. They got me again... Once again, after having paid $90, I was sent on my way to a frustrating, 5.5 hr round. I get it, a lot of courses are dormant right now, but this course is next level dormant. Instead of the grass being brownish/green, there just isn't any grass to begin with. The tee boxes are all dirt, and the fairways are scarcely scattered with lily pads of grass patches, and the greens are worse than just being completely dirt. Because there are patches of inconsistent grass throughout the green, you might as well pick up your putts because you're only hurting your game by playing here. I actually felt like I got worse after playing here. If you are trying to quit golf, this course is for you.
Management at Shorecliffs Shows Little Care for Patrons’ Concerns
The management at this course has been given numerous complaints and negative reviews because of a Marshall they insist on keeping on staff and who harasses, curses, and cusses at golfers. He goes by “Skip” and management is aware of how his behavioral issues and they won’t do anything about it. — The course experience here is already so bad, and this guy is out there thinking he is a big shot on a dog track. He explicitly cursed at golfers and that is completely unacceptable at any place, much less on a golf course where we come to have a good day and have fun.
Seabreeze
This was my first time on the course and I saw the three star rating but wasn’t to sure why. I wanted to make my own assessment since I am 11mo new to the game. The course is difficult!!!…for a mad slicer like me. You must shoot straight and the course is narrow. I will say the pace is amazing. No pressure. The cart girl is amazing. The club house staff is amazing. Ended the day with a cheeseburger and beer. Overall I would return once I fix my slice. Hope this helps.
Shorecliffs is worth 50$ no more!!!
Stop acting like this course is worth 90-100$. Just played 2 courses In Palm Springs 100times better for 80$ haha. Just bring your price down 50-60% and every tee time will be filled again like back in 2021
A little rustic but just needs to grow in.
Improvements are on the way but tee-off boxes in rough shape. Greens are pretty good though.
Front nine very tight but back nine opens up.
Marshalls were on the course and the staff in general were very helpful!
I'd go back but would warn any big hitters that need some room to stay away.
Good layout w/decent greens
Have played this course many times but not recently and thought with the substantial rise in green fees that the course would be in much better shape, but it wasn't. I was only able to play the ball down in about 50% of the fairways.
The major improvement is in the "off course" facilities which appear to be up there with the best of the best and the associates that I encountered were very helpful and friendly. I didn't eat there this time, but if the food is as good as it used to be I would recommend.
I liked the original layout better but the new one isn't bad and will play here again.
A Sham and Shame on You- Caveat Emptor, Golfers!
I am willing to give most courses the benefit of the doubt at this time of year, but the condition of this course is embarrassimentand an absolute sham in terms of green fees. Nothing can justify the $90 green fee per person we paid considering the condition of the course. One par 4 is shorter than the previous par three, the tees are mostly uneven and crappy condition, and colors on the course that I haven’t seen outside of the Yosemite hot springs. Am I angry? You bet! Oh, the golf carts had comfortable seats.
Coarse needs work
All the tee boxes are being worked on so all levels hit from the same set up. Fairways are very spotty and mud on most holes even though there’s been no rain. Greens are in good shape.
Terrible shape
All the tee box’s on the front 9 are pushed up to the women’s tees. Complete mud pit. Don’t bring a good pair of shoes. This course has gone down hill once again. Don’t waste your time or money.
The Price is Not Justified by Course and Conditions
Current conditions are very poor and getting worse, it seems. If the course is in this bad of conditions, why are they still wanting to charge as if it was pristine?! $40-50 is a good price range for this course, and cheaper on twilight. Management must be dellusional to think this course is worth what they want to charge. — I really wish they come to their senses!
Course and clubhous rebuild and value pricing in place
Played yesterday, liked the round and pace, plus pricing under Troon Mgmt competitive and will open player volume in future. Now a club which fits the OC.
