The Sea Ranch Golf Links
About
Sea Ranch Golf Links opened in 1974 as one of the first Scottish links-style golf courses to be built in the Western United States. The front nine stretches along the rugged North Coast, offering plenty of scenic ocean views, while the back nine moves inland, incorporating the small creeks that meander across the landscape. Mature redwoods and natural sea grass rough accent the golf course, especially along the fairways to provide some challenges. The design is noted for blending seamlessly with the scenic surroundings. While the golf course can seem intimidating, four diverse sets of tees make it more approachable for a range of skill levels. In addition to the course, Sea Ranch is also popular for its practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range and two short game areas with putting and chipping greens.

Par 3 8th green. Probably the most picturesque hole on the course. Photo submitted by Richard4180889 on 02/19/2018
Another bad for golf(er)
Over the past 20+ years I have visited the Sea Ranch area to vacation and play golf about twice a year. Truly now the Sea Ranch may be loosing my vacation dollars. Looks like I will be heading south to the Bodega Bay golf & resort area. Sad, sad day for golfers of the Sea Ranch golf course… not to mention the loss of revenues for entire area from vacationers/renters.
The Sea Ranch Golf Links
Golfed here years ago and found it to be a fun test of golf. After a friendly greeting from the staff and paying a very reasonable green fee, that was all of the effort required to get in a round at this seaside course.
There is no shortage of scenery here. At every turn, if it's not the Pacific Ocean views that distract you, it's the unlimited craggy, wind sculpted trees that compete for your attention.
Fairways are modestly generous and the greens were
good sized targets. Conditioning of the bunkers , fairways and greens was above average. Robert Muir Graves did a great job of routing holes with some turning left, others right and the rest kinda straight.
The Sea Ranch Golf Links is off the beaten track but well worth your time.

The Sea Ranch Links Rocks
The area had had experience a large volume of storms during the past week so there was a lot of water on the course. The greens rolled smooth and true and the course was in excellent condition given the amount of water it had received over the past week. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
I hear the course is closing in January, 2025. This would be very sad for those of us who enjoy playing golf in the northern Sonoma County when we visit here. I hope they can save the original nine holes and continue to operate the golf course.
Great shspe
Track is in great shape! Don’t come and play it’s not very fun or challenging. Sorry just trying to keep it for myself.
beautiful day
Course condition much improved from last time I played
3 Rounds 4 Days
The greens are good and the layout is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. Fairways are dry, whattya' gonna' do with no rain.
The course is unique
The course is very challenging, and a little
different then what we are used to. If you are
looking for something different I recommend it.
I was hoping for more holes along the ocean.
It is a very scenic course, a little over priced, but
a course you should play at least once.
Course in great dhape
The greens staff is working hard to make it a better experience for us all. Thank you
Nice Links course but hard to see some holes
This courses is well maintained . Greens are excellent.
Recommend getting a yardage book or help from some locals on where to hit the ball off the tea because you cannot tell where some fairways are or flag locations are.
Sometimes there are real young players that slow down play. They are friendly and allow you to pass.
Bring out a lot of golf balls and go for it!!!
links fun
We played this course 5 yrs ago and it was in terrible shape but now it was a true links course. Green fairways that are a must to hit with trouble lurking left and right. Greens in great shape but very slow so take that into account when putting. Par 3's were a blast and par 5's reachable and very fair.
Improved A Lot....BUT
Great setting and very fun course. The weather can be part of the fun and the challenge. The course has made a lot of improvements under the new ownership and I am very happy with what is taking place overall....BUT....the greens are ridiculously slow....ridiculously! I'm guessing that the superintendent does not golf so would someone please tell him/her that experienced golfers hate slow greens in general but the Sea Ranch Links greens are just plain maddening!! A 6 foot putt needs to be hit as though it were a 20 footer...and a 20 footer takes a full shoulder turn. This is truly a very big negative and I hope that they will address the problem sooner than later.
Sea Ranch Is Getting Better
There have been a lot of course improvements made in the last couple of years and they are noticeable. Intrusive trees have been trimmed...a few more needed, fairways and more of the course are now being watered and they have grass...maybe a bit too shaggy for the week we played and much better carts. But those greens...plenty of grass and well maintained but way, way, way too slow. Superintendent, putting is a fine touch art. Literally having to bang the ball at the hole is not fun or rewarding. It ruins the entire round. I half considered putting with my hybrid so I could whack it hard enough. I brought this up several times over the past year to management but they aren't buying it. That's a shame because everything else is moving in the right direction.
Still Very Pleased!
I really enjoy the Sea Ranch Links course. The course layout, the setting and the pace of play are all excellent. The course conditions are ever improving. Overall, the course provides a great value, so I play it every chance I get!
