The Sea Ranch Golf Links
About
Sea Ranch Golf Links opened in 1974 as one of the first Scottish links-style golf courses to be built in the Western United States. The front nine stretches along the rugged North Coast, offering plenty of scenic ocean views, while the back nine moves inland, incorporating the small creeks that meander across the landscape. Mature redwoods and natural sea grass rough accent the golf course, especially along the fairways to provide some challenges. The design is noted for blending seamlessly with the scenic surroundings. While the golf course can seem intimidating, four diverse sets of tees make it more approachable for a range of skill levels. In addition to the course, Sea Ranch is also popular for its practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range and two short game areas with putting and chipping greens.

Par 3 8th green. Probably the most picturesque hole on the course. Photo submitted by Richard4180889 on 02/19/2018
Great day on the links
Spectacular weather contributed to a great day on the llinks. Over all the experience couldn’t have been better.Fast check in, and right to the tee. Fairways were a little scratchy, but the greens were excellent. Played in three hours. Great day.
A great hidden links course on the Pacific Coast
Sea Ranch Golf Links is approximately an hour North of Bodega Bay and an hour South of Mendocino along the north coast of California. It is a nice links course with plenty of ocean views. There is a driving range, putting green and pitch and out area. They are also now serving sandwiches, chili and soup. The course is under new ownership and they are doing a great job of upgrading things. Hopefully they will upgrade the carts soon, although it is a walkable course. The fairways are a little rough but the greens are in good condition. Nice course to play.
WELL WORTH THE TRIP TO THE GOLD COURSE. GREAT OCEAN VIEWS ALONG THE WAY, ON ONE OF THE MOST SCENIC ROADS IN AMERICA. THE COURSE IS CHALLENGING WHATEVER YOUR LEVEL OF PLAY AND OF COURSE, A TREAT, PLAYING NEXT TO THE OCEAN. MANY GREAT VIEWS. WITHIN THE COURSE ISTELF AND THE COURSE AND GREENS WAS EXCELLENT. GREAT PRACTICE AREAS.
Sunny day , great Scenery, good conditions, great value.
Had always wanted to play but had read scathing reviews about the fairways being dried out. Recent influx of rain has seem to help this course & the conditions. Course is fairly challenging & had solid conditions for the price. Fairways & conditions aren’t perfect like a resort/destination golf course but it is a very scenic, great wild life, & has great ocean views on the front nine. The clubhouse is very bare bones but the practice/warm up areas are satisfactory. A blue bird sunny day is a must for this course, as I could imagine foggy/overcast which the area is prone to, would be a dreary mundane round of golf. Definitely worth checking out in conjunction with the surrounding beaches & trails which are scenic & beautiful as well.
8 some ?
The starter needs to go. He as well as the Marshall allowed an eight some and a five some. Fairways are still dead.
Reimbursement
Couldn’t use my $40 credit to book my 2 some. Golf now
Told me to book it anyway and they would credit my credit card the$40.
Haven’t gotten my money back yet.
Tees and greens were wonderful, fairways were very dry but understandable due to the drought. Cart paths were very bad, like driving off-road ATV’’s. Golf carts were very poor and smelly due to off gas fumes especially considering Sea Ranch being an ecologically sensitive community.
Sea Rabch Fun
Fairways dry and narrow. Greens in good shape.
The clown behind us hit my wife with his shot as we were driving off the green on 7. What a jerk.
Carl
The course is in bad need of water. The fairways are bone dry. Only the tees and greens are watered.
Rough Starter
The 70+ year old starter was an unmitigated rude crank. We were greeted with a complaint that we showed up too early to practice before our 8:20 a.m. round (7:40), then the real reason why he was such a jerk came out-we booked our tee time through Golf Now. He scolded us for not getting our tee time through their site. He asked me if I knew how much money they made through Golf Now? After I I said I didn’t know (and didn’t care), he formed a zero with his hand and said “that much.” FrankIy, I find that hard to believe, but I didn’t negotiate any deals for the course and I found it unusual the starter would discuss it with a guest. The starter dismissively tossed the cart key onto the counter and when I asked for two practice buckets, he said that $10 was the only money they were making off me that day. Nothing like a warm welcome to start the round.
Our much younger starter on 6/3 was very pleasant and accommodating.
The course is in good condition last week, especially given the drought in Nor Cal. The greens were smooth and in excellent shape.
We play Sea Ranch each summer and will continue to do so when we return. The starter was just an unpleasant jerk.
Fairways are bumpy and hard
Fairways need work. Smoothing out the bumpy surface and growing better&thicker grass might be helpful. Greens we're marginal and course needs upgrading.
No way would I pay $72 to play this course, wouldn’t pay $72 for a membership!!! A $25 course at best TERRIBLE
A great experience
I played this course today and really enjoyed it. The staff was helpful and quite friendly. The course design is excellent. You need to think strategically and not just grip it and rip it. The ocean is close to many holes (but the course is not right on the water). It is scenic with a very relaxed vibe that fits perfectly with the Sonoma coast. Although the fairways were just okay in some areas, the greens were excellent. I had a great golf day and recommend it.
Sea Ranch
This is a phenomenal course in my opinion. Not very long but provide lots of varying challenges from course shape, slopes, wind, and placement of ball for second shot. Greens and bunkers were in great shape considering the rains we've had the past couple of day earlier in the week.
Location of course and the roads leading to it a bit of a drive but well worth it.
