The best
It started to rain so we just stopped for a wile had a drink at the 19th hole .. back out we went . I love the corse I live at this place ..
HVL Golf Course
This is Lake County's only 18 hole golf course and the best one in the county. The course is maintained well for the most part. Sometimes they can't mow the rough because of rain and it sometimes gets very thick to where you have a hard time finding your ball in it. The white bunkers are average but are much better than the red sand bunkers which are horrible. Sometimes when your ball goes into a red bunker it skips out from lack of sand. There was talk of them removing the red sand and putting in white river sand but to date it has not happened. Stay out of the red bunkers at all costs. The front nine is flat, pretty much wide open and has a few holes that are hard to par consistently. The back nine has a lot more character with elevation changes and more interesting holes. You would think it would be easier to score on the front nine but for some reason I score much better on the back nine. Generally speaking the golf course is well maintained with the exception of the red bunkers and the greens are always in good shape. In the summer the course can play very fast with a lot of roll, which I like. The staff is helpful and friendly and the food and bar are very nice as well. I play here a couple times a month or more, weather permitting.
Great place to play
Greens are in great shape and the staff are the best around
Great Course
I live in Calistoga. We play at many corses from Mare Island to Napa to Oakmont to Petaluma and beyond. HVLGC is the best course in the area. Greens are challenging and always in great conditions; the course drains well the fairways are long and challenging and the staff is welcoming and friendly- Love to play at Hidden Valley!
Winter
This is a great course year round. But especially great in the winter. Just got 3 plus inches of rain 3 days ago and only a few holes were cart path only. Greens in great shape and totally receptive. Fairways had some bounce and roll out. All and all great golf, food and beverages.
very nice golf course
Very enjoyable course. front nine is walkable but cart needed for back nine. However views on back nine are fantastic. All in all a great course.
Favorite Golf Course
Course conditions , Tee boxes, fairways and greens , are great!
Staff are helpful and friendly.
HVL has become my favorite course to play.
Great layout and excellent conditions
teed off at 10:30 on Sunday morning and played the round in 4 hours. Greens were flawless Clubhouse was very friendly and had one of the best Bloody Marys at the turn i've ever had . Overall excellent course great layout very friendly staff
Great course ... tough but fun
Played here many times . In good shape don't like red sand traps . I think one of the harder courses to score well on . Will play again . S
AWESOME!
So, my dad came up for a relaxing weekend, and a round of golf with me. It's been 20+ yrs since he played this course. Our scores definitely did not impress, but the experience did. Course is in fantastic condition. Friendly staff ( getting more rare), pastoral setting, and almost driving the green on the signature hole made the day unforgettable! Happy Birthday Dad!!!
Weird.
No clue who's rating this place 4+ stars. Good supervision from the marshalls, Greens were perfect, bunkers needed to be edged badly, inconsistent sand in all the bunkers (some had a strange red gravel in them and others with traditional sand) fairways decent but had lots of weeds, dead spots and swampy areas, tee boxes good condition. Front nine was a total bore, flat and really basic. Signage, ball washers and tee markers all beat up and old. Tons of houses on every hole, all trashy looking with junk all over the yards. Back nine was better with some really nice holes. I'd say there's about 4 decent holes out there out of the entire 18. The rest are completely unremarkable. This is not a course for advanced players. Lots of pony tails, tank tops and blue jeans on the course too. Clubhouse was a dump. Gas golf carts annoying. One of the locals told me it's the only course in the valley area. Maybe that's why it's getting such great reviews, zero competition? Whatever the reason was, I'm seriously not seeing what all the fuss is about. First and last time playing there.
Great course and conditions
Even after the long summer of heat the course continues to play a great very Lush fairways and greens are flawless staff is friendly finished my round in 2 hours and 20 minutes excellent restaurant onsite. Definitely worth the drive to play
Hidden Valley Lake Golf course
Course is in great condition with the nicest group of people running it. Would recommend it anyone
A delightful and surprising experience
Wonderful staff! The front 9 is just an introduction to the back 9. The two couldn't be more different! This course is fun, challenging and rewards good shot placement. Greens, tees and fairways are in excellent condition!
What a great experience!
A very nice play to play
The course is fair. The staff is friendly and the pace of play was not an issue. I'd play here again.
Great place to stay and play
We took off at 2 and we were done at 435 .. no one in front of us and no one behind us .. the corse is in great condition for this time of the year.. nice staff as well ...
Enjoyed The Round
This was the second time playing the course. While there were many wet spots still remaining on the fairways, the course was in very good condition considering the huge amount of rainfall that occured the prior week. Greens were in great condition. A very pretty , challenging and playable course.
