South/East at Spanish Wells Country Club
About
Located in the heart of southwest Florida, Spanish Well Golf & Country Club in Bonita Springs offers 27 holes of championship golf amidst towering stands of palms and pines. The holes are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The South/East Course combines the longest of the three nines. Water characterizes the golf course, coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also strategically placed bunkers and a few tricky doglegs to watch out for. The layout presents a challenging, but fair test. The golf course finishes with one of the club's prettiest holes, a par 4 with mature trees that run along the entire right side of the fairway until they reach the lateral water hazard. Past the bunkered green, the clubhouse and the colorful surrounding flowerbeds serve as the backdrop.

Golf course or backyard? Photo submitted by Jimmy3044469 on 06/14/2018
Winter Round
First time this season. Nice course reasonably priced. Play slowed down on the back. The ranger come thru and corrected condition. Not sure how this accomplished, normally empty promises during similar conditions at other courses.
Nice lunch prior to round, reasonable price.
Very Nice Course
The Spanish Wells Country Club is a nice course. Having been a member of a couple of different Country Clubs, I must say it did not rise to the level of a typical private club. That said, the course was in good shape, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and it was an overall very good value. It just didn't have the amenities you expect to see at a CC. I'm an 11 handicap and shot 89 there...it is a target required golf experience. Lots of water on every hole. I recommend GPS golf layout tools to help figure out ball placement.
Quirky course
Always a risk playing on a Saturday afternoon, and the gentlemen in front of us did not understand pace of play and turned in a 5+ hour round, even after one of the rangers talked to them to speed up or jump ahead. First time playing this course - it is a short course with a lot of quirky holes, especially the South course, so target golf and iron play needed most of the day. As others have mentioned, wet areas on the course when no rain has been around for 2 weeks suggests they are overwatering or have water management concerns on course. Quite possible I may have enjoyed this round more if I didn't have to wait 15 minutes for every single shot. Nonetheless, my overall impression is that there are better courses to play in the area.
Nice day
We had a nice round the north was a little beat up but all in all it was a nice outing the greens and fairways were soft so not much roll, staff was friendly and I will definitely play here again.
Front 9 Needs Work
The course was extremely wet on the front despite not having rain anytime recently, now I'm not an expert on golf course maintenance, but it certainly seems over watered. The greens were in good shape overall, despite what appears to be the fact that no one cares to repair a ball mark on greens. There are definitely areas of the course especially the rough where there's not much care for the conditions. For the price, it's a decent course.
