I do love all the ducks. I just feel bad bc this course attract a lot of beginners, and I have literally seen a player whack a ball straight at one of the ducks who I definitely don’t they made it to see another day Photo submitted by Chupapi7 on 03/20/2023

Great open course
If you are a beginner or even have a low double digit handicap this course will be fun for you. It is very open so if you have mishits it is easy to recover. The greens are well maintained. And the course overall is in great condition especially for the price. The only downfall is the window where you get food, be prepared for either a long wait for your food or watching the chef and person taking your order arguing because they can't figure out if they already made your order.... so for the best time I would say just play the course and bring yourself snacks...
Great for Ladies, Seniors, and Beginners
Casta Del Sol is one of my favorite courses - because it's relatively short and easier to play. Sometimes you want to enjoy golf on a course that you have no pressure to play well. The course is also conveniently located from my home (Irvine) to get there quickly, and staffs welcome single players to sum up and play even if you don't have any buddies to play with.
It is a short course - with lots of par 3's and par 4's (no par 5's) but it is designed to be fun and enjoyable (compared to other shorter courses around the area). Also, the scenery and environment is also pretty and blends well with its surroundings. Especially recommendable to seniors and ladies who might enjoy a shorter course.
Not crowded at all on Weekends!
I played 18 holes in a cart by myself and finished in like 2.5 hours
There weren't many people there considering it was a Saturday afternoon. The only thing I would complain about is that there is no driving range there, but they do have a practice putting green.
Book on the course website. Not golf now.
Tee'd off on a sunday morning around 7 a.m. with a friend and a nice couple to round off the foursome. Weather was great once the fog burned off and the pace of play was better than expected for a sunday. Our issue came when we made the turn to the back 9. My friend and I paid $49 dollars approximately as did the couple we were paired with. We booked on golf now and they booked on the online site for the course. We were under the impression that the fee included breakfast, 2 beers, and a hotdog as advertised for that price. We were informed after the food and beers were presented that because we signed up on golf now that those items were not covered in the $49 dollars. The kicker to this whole fiasco was the couple with us also paid $49 dollars and were given there meals/beers as advertised. Now if that wasnt bad enough I reluctantly paid my tab because irregardless I ordered that food and beer only to find out that these beers were filled half way. I know this because the plastic glasses were clear. I would assume this has to be common practice as it happened to the friend I was playing with as well.
TLDR; Dont sign up on golfnow expecting to get the advertised benefits of playing there. Sign up through the course site. BYOB - unless you like drinking half beers.
P.S. - do not leave your food unattended while playing. One of the many birds constantly squawking on the course will snag your stuff. Blackbirds/Crows (I am not an expert) were the culprits, you have been warned.
Rate
I used early morning 9-hole through Golfnow.com. Even though the rate included cart, I was charged cart fee in addition. I complained and got refunded but they should have been more careful.
Fun time with my family
We enjoyed our round of golf at Casta Del Sol on Sunday afternoon. Got great deal via GolfNow, $20/person riding. My wife and my girls are beginner and this course is perfect for them. The guy in ProShop is very friendly. Only problem is the geese p..p every where.... If you dont mind that then it will be ok. We will come back.
Starter Mike
The Starter Mike was just as unfriendly as always. He is the only reason I would not recomend this course. Someone tell him it's 2015, customer service is key.
Great Greens
Enjoy playing here. Friendly staff. Always teamed up with nice golfers. Though there are no par 5 holes, the threes and fours are honest - not too easy.
Tough greens
Although every hole appears manageable when you get to putting better have reading glasses on!
Challenging.
No Waiting
Pace of play was perfect. Fun course, typical winter conditions. Friendly staff.
enjoyed it
Greens were in good shape. lot's of duck droppings on the greens was troubling
Good value
Course is in good condition. Only negative is slower players but marshalls try to speed up the pace.
Great place for an early 9
Course was in top notch condition, especially the greens. Was well worth the greens fees.
Great value
Have not played there in years but had a great time and will be coming back bi weekly
Fun Time
Staff made you feel welcome from the moment you enter the pro shop. Everyone was friendly, paired up with a great group of guys. I walked the course, great for walking. I would recommend this course to those who don't mind leaving their driver in the bag. You get great iron work on this course. There was a great hole in one challenge on one of the back nine par three's which made you pull out your A game. My overall experience was great.
Fun course
I really enjoyed this course, lots of fun holes, there few cool cool strategic holes incolving creeks and other water hazards. Not a difficult course but it will make you pay if you dont stay in the fairway on most holes. Reasonably priced and well worth it.
Good time
Nice golf for the price . It's a beautiful well-kept golf course in the hearts with Mission Viejo I suggest if you have a chance to play
This course has great features
I like this course because it is similar to David L. Baker where I often played. It is short but challenge.
Great Place To Play
Great place to use your irons. short par 4s, but long par 3s. My friends loved it. Great location!
Great
It was great. got there at 3, and there was a 4some in front. but we passed them and then no one was in front. went by quick. course could be in way better shape. but for the price , can't complain.
