Way to much sand
I went on a hot deal date 40 bucks and I get there and the front is only open and the greens look like a beach I understand maintenance but it was way to much and a waste of money having to deal with that
So fun
Started the day with a bogey, but when I got to number two, I saw a homeless man standing at the Teebox. He offered me some mushrooms and I bought them. I took the mushrooms on whole number three and by whole number nine I was blasting off to Mars I really love this golf course and the pink dolphins that were jumping out of the bunkers. I had a great time because my whole number 10 I was in a whole Nother universe and could care less about golf. I think I met Jesus that day and then I went to the snack bar and ate five hotdogs and drank three beers. I love this golf course.
Bunkers are garbage
Bunkers have been terrible for years. I don’t attempt to hit them out anymore. Bunkers have zero sand, either hard packed dirt or mud. The course hasn’t cared for them for years, tempted to stop playing here myself. Not sure their operating cost but course hasn’t made any improvements in 5+ years. Garbage and homeless tents are also acceptable here. I suggest paying a few dollars more and playing a course the maintains the course and doesn’t also homeless set up camp.
Local Modesto golf
Played in 3 1/2 hours teeing of at noon. Last time 5 hours. Fairways and ruff were all green. Some tough spots down to the dirt on several greens. Greens were running true.
Course appears to be mis-managed.
Course appears to be mis-managed.
Fairways are dry one week, overwatered the next. Bunkers have always been terrible but are worse now than ever. (Hard pan mud with puddles in the center and weeds all around the edges).
WHATS GOING ON??
Greens are also worse than I’ve ever seen them in 15 years. Again, who’s managing the process?
THANK GOODNESS THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND ACCOMODATING! KUDOS TO THEM!!
Golf
5 hour round. 5 some in front of us being held up by a very, very slow foursome. Lots of ball marks and parts of greens are burnt down to dirt. Lastly the sand is candles. Realy hard in the 3 traps I was in. Still a good value, at the very edge of good to not good.
Greens in good condition.
Traps were crusted dirt, not really sand
Super hot stretch of weather leaving fairways hard and fast
Many ball washers were missing towels
The occasional homeless straggler.
And on 18, guys fishing (bravely) within range of wayward tee shot.
Literal Hard-Pan Mud-Bunkers
They were an absolute embarrassment to the game. Hard mud bunkers. Not to mention multiple greens being patchy and unkempt. Front 9 layout is a plus. A lot more situations where you're not just ripping the big stick, there's turns and hazards that make okay interesting. Back 9 not as much but layout wasn't bad.
SHAME
Shame shame shame on creekside superintendent and foreman. First of all this is the dryest and worst i have seen this course city should be ashamed. The new foreman doesn’t seem to care all he does is drive around dont see him doing much. Only people i see working are the groundskeeper and irrigation crew, greens can’t recover from last aeration because not enough water in the late afternoon!! Scott dickson should be embarrassed by far the worse creekside has been in years
CREEKSIDE review
This was, by far, the worst I’ve ever seen course conditions at CREEKSIDE, especially considering that the airy tournament is less than a week away!
Where do I start?
The bunkers were their normal flooded and muddy condition, with zero sand, and weeds growing 12-18 inches tall all around the rims.
The fairways were dry and turning brown.
And finally, the greens were terrible, being very bumpy and scarred from the last aeriation and poor upkeep.
Again, the worst I’ve ever seen at CREEKSIDE.
The only positives I can mention are the newer carts that don’t die after 9 holes, and the staff friendliness.
Thank goodness for TONY, who is the best thing to ever happen for CREEKSIDE.
Otherwise, SAD-SAD-SAD
FOR GOLF NOW
When I booked it was a hot deal with cart included.
I also added my 20% off code. But when I arrived at the course they didn't have a record of the cart being included did something happen on golfnows end because I used a code? Please advise that the corelation between golfnow and the tee sheets may have a glitch. Creekside honored the cart but they shouldn't have to take the loss if your hot deals include them.

Played this course over 30 years ago when the big trees were little. I remember it being wide open but with the trees maturing it’s not like that anymore. Very nice pace of play (Monday). No one behind us so we took our time. Conditions were satisfactory. Fairways were okay. Greens were recovering from being aerated and “sanded”. Had a great time and will play again.
