The course needs to be better maintained. Several tee boxes were in rough shape and the grass is too high just off of the fairways. Far too many weeds around the greens.
Course was soggy in spots and the rough was a bit tall. Thiss was VERY understandable considering how rain we have been getting. Best bet is to stay in the fairway. If you do that, it’s a very plea to place to play.
PS liked the 19th hole a lot
Enjoyable
Played 7/13/21. Overall nice experience, course getting better and better despite being very wet from recent heavy rains. Young man in pro shop friendly, cart guys were excellent. Greens were good, rolled faster than usual. Need to clean up some forced carries… can’t see fairway from back tee on queen 6 or green from back tee on queen 7. Should be really good when summer rains are over.
great condition
Lots of water challenges. The course is in excellent condition. Pace of play was relaxed.
They have it ALL!!
This is my GO TO track! Quite honestly like all courses there’s areas that are a bit rough but overall this place and it’s staff and most importantly the courses (3 separate 9’s) are all drastically different and no 2 holes the same. You can score great or have your butt handed to ya quickly on a hole so play wise but feel free to go for it if you’re an advanced stick. The tee boxes are all in good shape. The greens, every one of them are lush and depending on the weather and cut they can be sluggish to quite slippery and speedy and they will break in spots so heads up! The food is AWESOME and affordable with a fantastic chef so try anything as you won’t be disappointed. The cart girls have everything you need and you’ll see them frequently which is fantastic and they are so nice. Now let’s cover the staff…… they are the absolute finest folks in town. They care, they help and are on the ball when it comes to getting a cart right to your car so tip these great guys and gals as they’re top notch! And granted it may not be of the elite clubs in Florida I’d never trade these people or the great golf for the arrogant and downright rudely overpriced other courses in SWFL. Nobody deserves how others treat us local’s to spit on us for the snowbird money. At Cape Royal they are always grateful to have you play and dine outside or in the awesome bar. So get on here and book a round or 10!! Best in the Cape!
Mopadre
Since it's the rainy season here in Florida, the course was a little soft, but I didn't see as much of a drainage problem as there has been, but some of the cart paths are like low water crossings at times. The course has some beautiful holes, and some challenging holes and I think it plays well for all levels of golfers with the tee boxes, etc.
Cape Royal
Cape Royal was excellent pace of play with staff freindlliness to match!
Long course with lots of water
Played the Prince and King courses from the blues, definitely felt like a longer course than my usual executive par 60; even the par 3's were long. There's water on every hole, usually denoted by palm trees where it starts and ends, unless it's super obvious. Be accurate off the tees, or bring a dozen balls, your choice!
Greens were in great shape, a little fast, but it's been pretty dry lately. Fairways were similarly nice, but the rough was a bit more... well, rough. Grass was spotty and clumped in the rough; sometimes, your ball would lay up against a clump of grass and the rough shot was much harder, sometimes it was almost like hitting out of the fairway.
One thing to note, there was no water on course, just at the clubhouse. If it's hot, which it was when I played, make sure to get yourself an extra cup of ice.
I liked it
Overall the course is playing well. Greens rolled smooth, Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. I was looking forward to trying the Surf Board Golf cart. I had watched the video and signed the waiver, but upon arriving, the man in the clubhouse said none of them were working.
Weeds and Grass
Nice course. Very helpful and friendly staff. I didn't want to bring my clubs with on this trip so I rented clubs. Unfortunately I didn't look at what I was renting. I think because all the other rentals at other courses were great. These not so great. All hibrids, I never hit hibrids, so I used the driver, putter, and PW. I used my buddies clubs for in between shots. So clubs sucked in my opinion. I could have paid $45 for the better clubs or they could have just had better choice of clubs.
Course was nice, water everywhere. Challenging. Fairways were a mix of grass and weeds, so your ball sometimes still moves as your hitting it. Greens were nice. Fast. Fairways had a lot of roll. Overall not a horrible course.
