Cove Cay Golf Club is located along the shores of Tampa Bay, offering scenic views and abundant wildlife. Water is a prominent feature on the golf course, coming into play on 12 holes. The course is tight with narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky dogleg holes. In addition to all of the water hazards, there are also deep bunkers lining the greensides. At 6,000 yards, it is not a long course by any means but what it lacks in length it makes up for in shot-making challenges. Thanks to its length though, it can usually be played in under four hours. The layout features a diverse set of hazards that will require the use of every club in your bag. Cove Cay Golf Club's signature hole is the par-5 17th. This dramatic hole runs alongside the bay, making accuracy a necessity in order to reach the small peninsula green.

Greens were freshly punched and super sandy so putting sucked. Otherwise course was in good condition. Just wish they would tell you before you book

Short

Course is very short even from the tips. Very good for a young golfer like I had. Greens were ok. Not fast but not extremely slow. Fairways were good mixtures of Bermuda and azyosia or st Augustine not sure which. Had a little more weeds than I expected. They were doing a good bit of work on bunkers. Overall a good short course for the price. Not really hard at all.

Stay Out of the Bunkers

Cove Cay was mostly a terrific golf experience. The layout was great. It was fair, but challenging. The staff was friendly and helpful. Price was reasonable. My ONLY complaint was that the bunkers were unplayable. Standing water in most of them from recent light rain. However it seemed clear that the bunkers have been neglected for a long time. Fix that and it’s a very nice course.

Interesting Layput

A shot makers course, not many places to bail out. Really beautiful course! Narrow fairways and water in play really requires that you control your shots. As they say, you need to play this course before you play it! A lot of hidden hazards and places not to be.

This is a good course. Although I only paid $20 something dollars with a bunch of golf pass discount. I wouldn’t pay over $50 for this course though. I had a really good round(70s) so I will be back , just for the “mojo”…lots of short dogleg holes . If you are accurate with your clubs you can score well here. Greens were punched a week or two ago, so they weren’t that great, but overall it’s good, but not for more than $50. Join golf now, but in order for discounts you have to play at 2 pk…it was HOT. So not sure I will be playing this summer there. I never pay more thank $50 for a green fee, so I will not be back for a while. Pace of pay was normal, as the group ahead of me was a 4 some of very average golfers. Which seems to be the normal at all Tampa bay courses, even the nicer ones .
