Cove Cay Golf Club

TLDR; This is the place to golf if you like golf and a challenging course.

We played a few courses during our vacation in Florida. This was the third course we played, and we immediately realized it was the course we should have played 3 times, instead of wasting our time on the other courses.

The Good:

1. The greens are amazing, smooth, the balls roll in a predicable pattern, albeit fast.

2. The tee boxes and fairways are great.

3. The carts are super luxury, with cushy leather seats.

4. The staff was exceptionally friendly.

The Not So Good:

1. There are no touch screen displays in the carts (like the Seminole course.) (I don't expect this, it just would have been an added bonus.)

2. The sand in the bunkers sucks. It was very soggy, very hard. Ball did not really sink in. (I don't know why, sand type, weather conditions?)

Little SOB at the front desk ran his mouth at us for being on time as opposed to early. If i didn’t hate my wife so much and want to play he would have been violated by our group. We let him live but also the starter and the cart girl were fantastic. But seriously, let me catch Christian outside the course and he gon get it,

Greens were freshly punched and super sandy so putting sucked. Otherwise course was in good condition. Just wish they would tell you before you book

Course is very short even from the tips. Very good for a young golfer like I had. Greens were ok. Not fast but not extremely slow. Fairways were good mixtures of Bermuda and azyosia or st Augustine not sure which. Had a little more weeds than I expected. They were doing a good bit of work on bunkers. Overall a good short course for the price. Not really hard at all.

Cove Cay was mostly a terrific golf experience. The layout was great. It was fair, but challenging. The staff was friendly and helpful. Price was reasonable. My ONLY complaint was that the bunkers were unplayable. Standing water in most of them from recent light rain. However it seemed clear that the bunkers have been neglected for a long time. Fix that and it’s a very nice course.

Greens were recently punched but other than that, good fun.

A shot makers course, not many places to bail out. Really beautiful course! Narrow fairways and water in play really requires that you control your shots. As they say, you need to play this course before you play it! A lot of hidden hazards and places not to be.
