Cove Cay Golf Club

Front 9 tee boxes closed for reseeding - played from temporary tees which shortened the course. Fairways and bunkers in good shape, but rough was below average. There are a few very scenic holes along the water. Between the course conditions and slow pace it was overpriced and underwhelming for a $45 rate.

The course was once being considered for housing development, but Bill and Pat Shriver have turned it around to be a must-play venue in Pinellas. You'll use all you clubs.and you'd better know how to make all the shots off the tee and around the greens. Give it a try and you'll come back again

Not worth $55. Tee boxes and greens in bad shape. Used to play here alot. Very disappointed. Friendly starter and pro shop and beverage cart server though.

It’s that time of year when the courses in the area step up their maintenance. Greens are aerated. T boxes are moved as they redo T boxes. Cove Cay is in the process of redoing all the T boxes on the front nine. Greens are aerated. Still had a great time playing this course.

I can’t believe I had to pay a green fee to play at this course. I’ve played here before and it was never this bad. The course straight up is no even playable. The conditions are awful from the tee box to the greens and everything in between. I wouldn’t play here again.

Fun course , great views. Reseeding tee’s on front nine and fresh aeration/sand on greens was a bummer but there is never a perfect time for maintenance.

This is my 2nd time playing this course. Everything was great the 1st time. They are renovating the tee boxes from 1 to 9, but we where advised of this at check in. Staff is very friendly and professional. We had lunch at the restaurant at the course, food was delicious and priced right. The greens and fairways are well maintained. It was a bit crowded, but no one was pushing us to play faster. Overall I enjoyed my play and will play again on this course.

If it's possible to notify the public that all tee boxes are being moved then do it:(

Early morning tee off time and treated to a magnificent sunrise. Staff were super friendly as we started on the back nine. Course will be much better once they get their tee boxes repaired. Suggestion for GolfNow is that they comment on course work underway. With that said, I still would recommend anyone visit in St. Pete to try Cove Cay if they’re looking for a fun round of golf.

The course itself is in reasonable shape. Walk on price is $65 and this is not a $65 dollar course. When booked on GN as a Hotdeal you can get on for $25-35. Then it is good value.

Much better courses in the area for the less money. Holes 1-9 tee boxes are under renovation but they still charge full price for a round that is already too high. If you can get a deal for $30 or less it’s worth it but charging $45-$65 just seems greedy and off putting from the owner. Will not be back until owner comes back to reality or ownership changes. Have played here a few times in the past and wanted to give them another shot as they are within 10 miles of where I live but was disappointed yet again.

Nice course, nice people. Some of the tee boxes were being redone but all in all it was a good time.

Do not play this course. We have played nearly every course in the Tampa area and this is the biggest joke of a course we’ve come across. First 9 tee boxes are under construction as well, so you will be paying $65 for ~5500 yards from the tips.

Fun short, tight course with small greens for those of us visiting from northern areas. Typical for local courses which I love. Conditions were perfect, Bermuda greens rolled nicely.

Played my first round of the year with my son here. Standing on the 4th tee I got smoked in the side of the head with a ball at full velocity. Knocked out my hearing. No one came forward or yelled four. Never saw a beer cart until the 5th hole to drown the pain.

Range master was pushing us on our pace of play even though we were on a pace to get in 18 within 4 hours. He was very rude interrupting our play and was not polite.

Maybe the Pro Shop shouldn’t book regular play right up against league play.

Poor planning and execution by the Cove Cay golf course will result in negative reviews being passed on to fellow golfers.
