Cove Cay Golf Club is located along the shores of Tampa Bay, offering scenic views and abundant wildlife. Water is a prominent feature on the golf course, coming into play on 12 holes. The course is tight with narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky dogleg holes. In addition to all of the water hazards, there are also deep bunkers lining the greensides. At 6,000 yards, it is not a long course by any means but what it lacks in length it makes up for in shot-making challenges. Thanks to its length though, it can usually be played in under four hours. The layout features a diverse set of hazards that will require the use of every club in your bag. Cove Cay Golf Club's signature hole is the par-5 17th. This dramatic hole runs alongside the bay, making accuracy a necessity in order to reach the small peninsula green.

Rainy day

Had some rain but allowed me to be a single. Was wide open until back 9 caught a foursome who refused to let me play through. Didn’t ruin my time just slowed down and did some extra putting. Fun day

Overpriced

This course makes the worst muni look nice . Terrible shape. No sand in traps , untrimmed trees all over , greens are mostly sand . Almost feels like they are ready to close . Won’t play again

Worst Golf course I have played in Florida

The 3 star rating for this course is generous! All the pictures with this course are from years ago. The website shows a beautiful course which we found out was all lies! The hole with the bay beside it has trees covering the bay. The tee box had no grass. The greens were dead. The sand traps were filled with water. This course would be a nice course except they don’t take care of it at all. The pace of play was super slow. No Marshall to be found and a group of two had the course backed up. My friend and I ordered 4 hot dogs which cost us $29. This course is not worth your money especially not $70! Do yourself a favor and book another course!

NOT WORTH THE MONEY

Given the season, $60 is what you pay for a very nice course. Cove Cay should be ashamed of themselves. This was a $30 course at best. The greens were eaten up with fungus, all of the ball washers had bags over them, and the Ranger allowed the pace of play to crawl. If I wasn't spending a perfect day with my son I would have left at the turn.

We have had extremely cold temperatures for extended periods of time this past few months. We need the weather to warm up. Our greens have some discoloration due to cold temps, but are “rolling fast and true”. We have algae in a few spots, not a fungus but definitely not covering the majority of the greens, only 2 greens with a little algae. The ball washers are covered due to Covid . We have Gayle Erickson rangering, and she is doing a fantastic job! The tees will be receiving a heavy fertilization treatment this Spring. We have been focused on fairways and greens for the past 6 years. This year we will be focused on tees.

Nice View and a Bit Challenging

The overall condition of the Course was in Ok-Fair.

The real downfall of the course was the Pace of Play and the lack of enforcement.

Also it was a bit on the Pricey side compared to other course close by.

It was 67.00 in my opinion should be a 40.00 course.

Greens where in good shape though.

Terrible course conditions

Course is in terrible shape and should not be charging more than $30 for this goat ranch. There are bare spots everywhere, crab grass growing in the fairway, the fairway is dormant, and the tee boxes are like waste areas. The cart paths are like off roading. This is a huge rip off for the money. Location is great but the place needs work. I won’t be back.
