Lovely course
I found this course to be well laid out and in good order . It has its challenges but nothing that is impossible to over come. Its a great way to introduce first timers. I enjoyed my round alot
Day out
Good course in danger of over priceiing disappointed to see clubhouse and catering not open at 12 noon on a Saturday
Sunny Thursday morning
Much improved greens compared with this time last year made this round much more enjoyable this time around. The sun shone, the wind blew (mostly helping) and the views over Sheephaven Bay were amazing. The work done on the greens in the last 12 months is to be commended. I will definitely be back.
Great scenery
The course was brilliant, some challenging holes and spectacular ones. Would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting the area.
Links heaven in Dunfanaghy!
.........it’s early January and we’re having a short break in Donegal, it’s unseasonably mild and the Links at Dunfanaghy are resplendent as always, it would be remiss not to get out and feel the breeze of the Atlantic and hopefully rattle a few pars & birdies! Dunfanaghy is a relatively short Links at 5,300 mts but it holds a challenge as tight as any especially if the wind is blowing off the bay! 5 Par 3’s and just the one Par 5, the 16th, belie the difficultly of a true Links, the Par 3 7th is 209 mts and 17th 170, tough in a gale, the picturesque 9th is only 124 but you could use a 7 Iron one day and a Driver the next! Some serious Par 4’s prevail, the 3rd, 8th, 10th across the sea, 14th green tucked in near Clubhouse, and the 28th a lovely finishing Hole, and finally the Par 5 16th, bit of a monster at 500mts, a bogey here would do any day! The Clubhouse has a friendly ambiance and regular locals wee James & Roger enhance the experience with some great stories apres golf! All in all it’s a lovely course to play and you never know you might bump into Paul McGinley former Ryder Cup Captain, his Mum & Dad live in Dunfanaghy!
Lovely links course
I use to play every year in this lovely links course during my holiday, the course is well kept and you can enjoy some amazing views of Dunfanaghy beach. The staff is friendly and professional and you can enjoy a good coffee or meal in the clubhouse
Links at its best
Love playing here, best links course bar none, played Galway bay last week not a patch on here.
Terrific course in idyllic setting
We had a wonderful round of golf in Dunfanaghy and would highly recommend the course to those who love a golf course in a magnificant setting. The holes are challenging, the links golf is quite kind to reluctant balls, the pace of play is fine and the apres golf coffee very good value! We can't wait for the next round here!
A Hidden Gem
Played on a not too windy day and Dunfanaghy is a really fair test of golf will not chew you up and spit you out like some of the monster links in the county. Main defence of the course are the links greens, 4 tricky par 3s and the par 5 16th back into the wind . Course in excellent shape all round with tee boxes fairways and greens superb . The staff in Dunfanaghy are excellent also and couldn't be more helpful. I would definitely recommend for societies and players that are new to the game as you will most likely finish with the same ball you started with !! Overall a real gem of a course
Challenging well laid out golf course
This course really comes into its own when the wind picks up. Great challenge and very welcoming members.
Amazing
Very nice costal golf course, stunning view from hole 9 and 10.
Donegal Links Gem!
..........played Dunfanaghy with my partner on Sat evening and early Sunday. The course was fairly quiet although there were still plenty out on the Links. The Past Captains were having their Annual outing and dinner in the clubhouse later so plenty of Jackets in the Clubhouse! The course was in great shape with the greens impeccable. It's a tough links course especially when the north west wind blows. Not the longest at 5,700 but it has some great holes, the Par 3, 9th & 17th spring to mind. Another Par 3, the 7th is almost 200 yards and when the wind is blowing up on the elevated tee, it's something else! Standing on the 10th and looking out across the Atlantic it's the most beautiful picturesque place, Donegal at its best! Donegal is real Links territory, 16 out of 18 courses in the county are Links (16 out of 400 worldwide, amazing!) Dunfanaghy is well worth a visit and in Ryder Cup year, it's also the home of Paul McGinley's Dad, and where Paul honed his skills as a young player, another reason to visit this great wee Links course!
Good links course
Course was in excellent condition. The weather was excellent and the scenery was great. This has some challenging holes and some easy holes well worth a visit.
