Plantation on Crystal River - Lagoons Course

The course at The Plantation Inn was good for a fun afternoon of golf. Good value at $25 pp with cart. The setting is "old South" with lots of trees, interesting wildlife, and a few tricky water hazards. I'm a 36 handicap, my boyfriend is an 18, and we both found the course challenging enough for a relaxed round of match play. Fairways are plush & in great shape, but the greens could use work--some burnouts, ant hills, and a bit scruffy--could be mowed a little tighter for better consistency. Awesome friendly staff. Would play this course again.

First couple of greens were a little rough but once we got to #3 they were nice. Lot of water hazards and the course also tends to be wet during the summer rainy season. Fairways were great, nice layout. Overall a good place to play. Got a great deal on Golf Now.

Except for the very 1st. hole the course was in excellent shape.There was no waiting and the staff was quite congenial and helpful.I am particularly thankful because I left a club there and was able to retrieve it the next day.

I've lived in Citrus County for 10 years now and Plantation used to always have top-notch greens. My Dad used to come down to Plantation for the weekend to stay and play golf in the '80s.
Last summer the greens were miserable.
Yesterday, there were several greens that are majorly hurting. The others had good grass, but poor putting conditions. SLOW and super grainy.
Really a sad situation when the rest of the golf course was in very good condition.
Where did the greens go?

Front nine too easy. Back nine some holes too long. Greens on front a little sketchy. Good par 3s

Although the greens had been punched recently they were in better shape then almost all the other greens around that haven't been. The fariways are in excellent condition being green and not the typical greenish brown everywhere else. They also have actual sand in the bunkers instead of the sand dirt mixture most other courses have. If you are not getting a real good deal somewhere else this course is worth the extra money!

Pro shop was curt.

Greens not very good.Recently "scored" which made putting very tough.
Fairways sparse and very wet with standing water.It hasn't rained in weeks....go figure.

Some of the greens were showing need of attention. I understand that aeration is planned for this week which should improve matters

If you have not tried this course it is highly recommended. A great experience and great value for the money.

At first glance, this established course looks pretty benign-pretty flat, lots of trees lining the visible, nice fairways, etc. But when you get into the meat of the course, you soon realize that you are facing some very challenging holes. Be sure to check the course layout to find all the subtle water hazards that dot the edges of the fairways-they can really surprise you. There are some lengthy par 4's and 5's, and the back nine is harder than the front. Greens were just aerated when we played, but they are normally fast and true with plenty of undulations. Practice facilities are rather minimal but adequate, and you are not allowed to hit the driver on the practice range. The course is normally in good to excellent shape (I've played it many times). All in all, this is a great value and an excellent course in my opinion. Challenging, yet fun, fair, and doable.

returned the next day and was pleased with the course condition, and the friendly staff. We will play again there.

Over priced for conditions and comparable courses in area

the weather was cool and very, very breezey..but that was no fault of the course..the course layout is challenging but interesting.. i have never played this course well but it is a fun course..water and trees make it real interesting. all in all the course was fun to play and the staff greeted us in a very friendly manner..will certainly play here again..

This is a good course. It has some challenging holes but is manageable. It was a very windy and cold day which elevated the difficulty level. Overall it was a good day.

The staff was friendly. The course was challenging without being unfair. Lots of water in play (we saw an alligator). The food at the club house was good, and if you wanted to cross the street to the hotel, it was very good. I have played it before and will play it again.

I would have driven back all the way to the club house to find the second tee had I not located a grounds worker. That experience would have repeated itself had we not welcomed the couple behind us to join us. Fortunately, they had played the course a couple of times prior. Once accompanied with "knowledge", we enjoyed playing the course.

greens could be better; played on Christmas Day, not too many people out so round went quickly - 3.5 hours. We play here often.

The course is basically flat but challenging. It was well maintained for winter conditions.
