Desert Springs Resort has a longstanding reputation as a luxury resort that offers something for everyone. There are two championship golf courses that sprawl across beautifully landscaped grounds covered with lush vegetation and sparkling lagoons, providing a scenic oasis amidst the desert surroundings. From nearly every hole at the resort, golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains. Water is the most prominent feature of both golf courses. Between the two of them, over 35 acres of water features come into play. The Palms Course is the slightly more challenging layout of the two, but both are accessible to players of all skill levels. The layout features well guarded greens, thick rough and towering palm trees bordering the holes. It has a memorable finishing stretch that starts with an island par-3 on the 17th and finishes with a tricky dogleg par 4 with water all along the left side.

The course is good.

First people working on the course are not friendly people. Second the golf course directions are not marked properly. Third the cart are not clean and never put a score card on the cart.

Golfen old lady

Played this course many times has always been an excellent experience. The greens are in poor condition and very disappointing, the rest of the course is in very good condition. I would not drive an hour to play this course in its current condition.

Don't play during summer

Almost half of the green surface was dirt without grass.

Got impression that they simply don't bother to maintain the green during summer

Extremely Poor Conditions

Unbelievably terrible and unacceptable conditions for a $100+ “resort” course. Dry patches on nearly every fairway; splotchy dry/dirt patches near greens; and terrible greens. In fact, after the second hole, I stopped putting altogether. Much worse than the worst mini courses in LA that charge half as much. The staff was very helpful. But hard to appreciate them after experiencing the course, kind of like one would feel about a waiter who knowingly served you a leather tough steak for $100.

Hopefully just temporary

I've played this course for years and was pretty disappointed in the poor conditions of the greens. The starter and club guys were great though and always are. We played the palms 5/24/26 and I was shocked, as the conditions have always been amazing, but the greens were bumpy and dying. Not sure why, but I hope it's better next time I'm out there.

I enjoy it playing this course. Brings back a lot of memories as we’ve been playing here for 20 years.

Course was in good condition and greens rolled true.

Well maintained with great amenities

This is kind of a typical resort course, but it’s not necessarily one you would expect to find in the middle of the desert. The course was in outstanding condition and I really appreciated the snack bar being open at 6 AM when we teed off. Definitely a parkland type golf course where if you hit it off the fairway it’s entirely possible you have a thick lie behind the trees, but I’m also a big proponent of that style of golf. I think it’s a really fun layout and would definitely play it again.

Scenic and challanging

We always love coming to JW Marriott when we come to Palm Desert. and an added bonus is when we can play golf there. Pro Shop was very friendly but the starter did not seem to be having a good day. Was not welcoming at all.

Palm course

Great course but not the easiest course. You need to carry over water to elevated greens with deep bunkers. Several great restaurants on location.
