Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort

About
Desert Springs Resort has a longstanding reputation as a luxury resort that offers something for everyone. There are two championship golf courses that sprawl across beautifully landscaped grounds covered with lush vegetation and sparkling lagoons, providing a scenic oasis amidst the desert surroundings. From nearly every hole at the resort, golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains. Water is the most prominent feature of both golf courses. Between the two of them, over 35 acres of water features come into play. The Palms Course is the slightly more challenging layout of the two, but both are accessible to players of all skill levels. The layout features well guarded greens, thick rough and towering palm trees bordering the holes. It has a memorable finishing stretch that starts with an island par-3 on the 17th and finishes with a tricky dogleg par 4 with water all along the left side.

Golf trip
Course is great staff was awesome pace to play was good. Everything was great. Love the place.
Horrible!!!
This course has seriously declined in all areas!! It was definitely not worth the amount paid!! There are way better courses in the area for much less and with conditions 10x's better!! I'm not sure what was worse... the poor service or the trash on the course, ugly fairways, grass clippings all over the place, the thick uncut greens. It was horrible!! it was like someone who didn't know how to use the mowers just went crazy and cut in all different directions, area and just left the course in terrible shape!! NEVER AGAIN!!!
HORRIBLE CONDITIONS!! Garbage course!!
This course was a big disappointment. It used to be such a beautiful course and was well maintained. I have played many courses in this area and this by far was the worst we have experienced. The service was horrible from the bag drop to the very end when we returned the cart at the end, Dead grass and clippings everywhere, The greens were way below par and hard to roll a decent and straight putt. There was trash along the cart paths on most of the holes. It was very sad!!! The bunkers were mostly dirt and not sand. Most fairways were thin and just flat out dead!! The rough was at least 6- 8 inches thick and the course in overall was just not well maintained and looked ugly!! Its crazy how the cart guy at the beginning was so rude and rushing us to hurry up or they would pull our tee time and just being a jerk... and then at the end he wants to be super nice and clean our clubs for a tip!! Your tip and the amount started when we first arrived buddy!!! It was a horrible experience and I cannot understand how it gets such good reviews and high ratings! This course at most should be no more then $45 to play. Shadow Mountain is half the cost of this place and 10x's better in all areas!!! Never again!!
Beautiful piece of property
I played here four times, every time I play here the course is in great shape! staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend all types of golfers.
The heat of the day kept everyone away!
Pretty much played on a deserted golf course.
Course was as expected having played here many
Times …. Good value for the summer round
Golfen old lady
The course is a great layout; I have played many times. The conditions of the greens are healing from being punched and sanded. The area around the greens is thin or muddy. the fairways and tee boxes are OK. The overall staff was very good except when we finished our round the cart attendant refuse to take us to the bag drop, we had to carry our bags to the bag drop. Not Marriott quality i would drive an hour for.
Best value !
I absolutely enjoy this course, a beautiful set up. Well kept the only grumble I have is the locals don’t seem to rake the bunker's.
Challenging Course
Great conditions, great staff, and challenging course. Makes sure to keep an eye on you shots. With all the hills sometimes it can be hard to see your ball a foot in the rough. Yes I shouldn’t be hitting it in the rough but I’m not a pro so there’s that. Cool water hazards and if you’re lucky you’ll see a giant of a carp ha. Hole 17-18.
Challenging course.
Nice course, but was pretty slow for an early am tee time.
I loved everything about this course.
I played in June and the rate was very good for the type of course experience that it offers. I’m sure that the rate jumps dramatically during the months of good weather. I would love to play this course when it’s not so hot, just not sure if I can afford it 😀.
Excellent course
Coachella Valley is filled with really good courses that are in great shape. The Palm course is added to our list of places to revisit!
Every part of our experience was top notch, and the course conditions were excellent despite the 115° temperature. The greens were especially notable for their smooth roll and relatively good speed despite the hot season.
The only reason that I only gave 4 stars for the value is that we’ve played several courses in similar condition that cost almost half to play, but this Marriott layout is a definite thumbs-up!

This course has great features
This course was challenging, with a lot of hills, slopes, bunkers and water as obstacles. Wide open tee boxes, with a greatly maintained fairways and rough. The greens were true, and well maintained.
What the desert should be
A resort in every sense of the word. Quite enjoyable.
