Enjoyable round on a very decent course
Decent course, nice clubhouse with friendly and very helpful staff made for an enjoyable first time visit. The parkland style course layout has wide forgiving fairways none of which crossover. The large spacious greens are in great condition and are mostly well defended with deep bunkers and hidden lateral ditches.
The only slight grumble is the lack of sand in some of the bunkers, but on the whole this is a very good course and I look forward to a return visit in the future.
Not able to play
I wasn’t able to play due to golf now! The course was fully booked for the day as there was a captains day. Glyn abbey golf club had contacted golf now a number of times to let them know but they obviously didn’t do there job, resulting in me and my colleagues wasting our time. When I tried to cancel the booking I was in a dead spot and therefore couldn’t cancel it. I am still waiting for my refund, but yet you keep sending me emails on other offers! I think this is dis respectful.
Eagerly waiting your reply,
David
Only played front 9 as the pace was too slow, 3 and 4 ball in front but it was a busy time, 5.30 pm.
Thought all the holes were interesting and in good condition.
Really enjoyed it and looking forward to playing all 18 the next time I'm in the area
Little gem.
I used the Golfnow app, and extended the range to 30 miles. I'm glad I did, because I found this little gem.
The course layout is excellent with a good mixture of holes, some are quite challenging!
The greens were on a great condition, and were quick.
I did read some of the other reviews regarding the walk between the 10/11 & 17/18, yes, it does take about 5 mins, but it gives you time to think about your next shot!
The ONLY blip on the course is the condition of the bunkers, they do need some care and attention.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this course.
Nice round.
Glyn Abbey is always nice to play. Great fairways and greens. I have always enjoyed a round here. Would recommend this course.
parkland golf
Glyn Abbey is located in open countryside and the course is well spread out. The good features are the interesting holes, which are most of them, and the views on the back 9. The Club needs to spend money on the clubhouse facilities and the bunkers. There is also a feeling that the rough particularly on the back 9 could be cut back without spoiling the round and would enable golfers to spend less time looking for balls that go astray. The link between holes 10-11 and 17-18 is a long walk and the route through the trees is becoming impassable.
a camarthenshire course
I enjoyed 18 holes at Glyn Abbey on a warm September day. I met a member who wanted to play with me and we had an enjoyable 18 holes in good conditions. The fairways were a trifle damp with the course suffering from recent heavy rain. The greens were fair and average speed. The walk between 9/10 and 17/18 was a little tiring and frustrating but otherwise the course was a good test for most golfers.
