Delray Beach Golf Club
About
Delray Beach Golf Club is the championship sister course to the executive Lakeview Golf Club, which is located less than a mile away. It is also less than three miles from downtown Delray Beach. Opened in 1926, Donald Ross designed the layout and over the years, touring professionals on their way to Miami have made it a habit to stop and play the classic design. Its still-growing popularity is a testament to the quality of the round. It provides a quick round that can be played in just over 4 hours but it still offers enough challenges for low handicappers. There is very little water coming into play but with the strategic bunkering that is abundant throughout the course, water features will hardly be missed. The club also has a reputation for being one of the most well maintained public courses in the area as well.

The greens are in terrible shape! It's been that way for sometime. It's a disgrace to golf.
Pace was very good
Course was in better condition than I thought it would be since there has been no rain for the last few weeks. Greens were pretty rough. Kitchen was closed but bar was open and the bartender was nice. Overall ok, the price was right.
I play here often... but
but I wish the greens were in better shape. some have green grass, most don't. bumpy. why do I play here often? Nice course design by Donald Ross, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Plus, I find the other courses in the area have similar green problems.
Bad greens
I have played the Delray Beach course many times and this is the worse I have seen the greens. The fairways are good and the tee area too. Usually the greens are good. I don't know what has happened. Hopeful it gets back the quality it usually is.
Green unplayable
Not sure how you can even operate a golf course with greens this bad. You know its going to be bad when even the practice green barely has any grass.
Staff is also really rude. One of the Rangers thinks he owns the place.
It's a shame they let a Donald Ross course come to this
A Donald Ross Disaster
This course has tons of potential. However, I’ve never played a course with WORSE greens. It was totally embarrassing how horrible these greens were. How they can let a course get this bad is beyond me. I was hitting a few balls on the range at 6:45am and it was off mats. There were no tees on the mats so I moved up to the grass where I could put a tee into the ground to hit a few drivers. And then the ranger came over and said “mats only please!” Are you kidding me. Like I was going to do any damage to the grass. I’m a 2-handicap and he’s worried about the grass on the worst range I’ve ever seen! What a joke. Pace of play was also horrendous. Overall experience on this course is ZERO! I can’t believe the attitude these people have - truly shocking. My word of advice - Find another course!!!!
Please repair the greens!
The greens are a disaster. Just shut 9 holes at a time in the summer and resod please!
Poor condition
The greens are in terrible condition , half of them with no grass.
Everything is terrible
Everything is poor at this course from the layout to the course conditions to a staff. Nobody is friendly the pace of plays terrible and don’t try to play through if you’re at a faster pace. I couldn’t tell the difference between the fairways and the greens, and the greens were terrible conditions. I ended up playing six holes out of 18 Everything was so bad.
Course Condition was TERRIBLE!
I was charged $57.00 + for a poorly kept golf course. The fairways had a LOT of weeds and the greens looked like they were bombed. To say they were terrible is an understatement, a lot of them lacked grass! This was golf worth $20 dollars at best based on the course condition. Never playing it again.
You get what you pay for
Pay more to go somewhere playable. You can hit every green in regulation but will find yourself 3/4 putting everything. Comical is the only way to describe the condition of the greens.
Time to invest
It’s time to invest in this course great location great layout great course staff but the course itself has been kept up terribly for years now all the other local courses are in great shape but not Delray spend some of these high tax $ on this place or let it go !
Delray = Why Play?
The greens appear to be under repair. One of the greens was 70% sand. They felt like an obstacle course for four wheelers
Used up muni
Heard employees mention they were going to redo numerous greens during the Summer. It couldn’t come soon enough. Weeds, dirt and gouges all over most greens. Fairways and tee boxes are thin to say the least. Bunkers are decent. Staff is friendly and low rates keep the course busy - but moving well. Gas golf carts with no GPS. Driving range off mats - many missing tees. This course needs a rest to catch up.
