The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

Love to Play Here

Really nice courses, although some greens had a lot of unfixed ball marks this time. Very important to hit fairways here, and greens were quick. I always struggle here, but always enjoy it, I'll be back.

Great course

Been playing Neshanic for many years. Great course, great value. Greens were slow today but overall a wonderful course. It’s a must course to play in NJ.

Best Public Golf in NJ Outside Atlantic City Area

For my money, this course is the best public facility that's not in the greater AC area. Absolutely remarkable conditions for it being late in the season, and this being a municipal facility. The rates are reasonable ($85 for non residents) for a course of this quality, with such a great design pedigree (Hurdzan & Fry of Erin Hills fame). That said, the design is phenomenal, and would stand on its own merits regardless of whose name was listed as architect. There are a lot of fun, interesting and challenging holes, but the course remains playable for people of all levels (I play with some 25+ handicaps who are over 60, and they enjoy the course from the senior tees. Additionally, in maybe 7 or 8 rounds at this course this season I have never once played in longer than 4.5 hours. This ranges from 7am tee times to 11 am tee times and everything in between. I cannot recommend this course enough.

Great course

Played the ridge and meadow courses which were both in great shape. Some greens were browning where ball marks weren't repaired but overall it is a very nice course, a little pricey but very good course. Good time was had by all.

Pick it up

All n all One of my favorite public courses. Def worth the money. Pace of play needs to be addressed. 2 plus hours on the front and the back was no picnic either. No ranger in sight. Cart girls were always present which is good but send a ranger out here n there

Excellent layout and pace of play

Great layout more of a links style course

Many tee options

Green we’re not rolling as good as in past, probably just because it’s late in season and getting lots of play

Top Muni

Good Value for an afternoon tee time. Pace of play was acceptable, but with public golf, it can get a little slow.

Great Facility

First time visiting this course but I’ll be back again. Greens are a bit bumpy. Probably due to volume of play but that seems to be true everywhere these days. Otherwise great layout and conditions with many scenic and interesting holes. If you spray the ball this may not be the place for you. Beautiful tall fescue everywhere and if you hit it there you will likely not find your ball. I was fortunate to avoid it but there seemed to be others in our foursome who hit there on nearly every hole which really affects the rhythm and pace of play of the round. There is an “Academy” 9 at the facility which looked more forgiving if you have trouble hitting it straight.

Neshanic Valley

Nice course only issue was they sent us of the ridge 9 first and the meadow course second. Was a little confusing for my gps as it came up the opposite way while searching for course so it took a couple holes for me to correct. Also ridge 9 much more challenging so would have preferred playing as back 9.

Nice Friday morning round

Nice day. Very warm in the mid-90's. Avoided any rain. Conditions and course were great. Would love to play more often but it's hard to get times.

It's frustrating trying to change your tee time. Forget GolfNow - no one answers any phones there. They used to have a chat feature (which isn't fun when you're on a phone in a parking lot) but no more. Course didn't pick up either, went right to voicemail. Luckily it wasn't an issue but it's annoying not being able to call GolfNow anymore.
