The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Great Course to hone your game
Excellent Links course to hone your game. Greens are fast even with those aeration holes. Make sure to use range finder with slope technology to get your accurate shots. Wide fairways is great, gives you enough room for some errant shots.
Looking forward to more rounds, and I sure recommend this course. Great value if you live golf, GO BOOK ASAP. Now, it could be very crowded on weekends.
Awesome Mothers Day 2017
The pending poor weather and Mom's Day left us nearly with the course to ourselves. The greens are still quite choppy and sandy, but otherwise, the course is in great shape and the service is always great here!
Best bang for your buck
Beautiful course design and conditions. Friendly to the average golfer and certainly a scorable course to the more advanved player. Most if not all clubs in your bag will be used. Fantastic par 3s, although two are blind, tough par 4s but can yield low scores and lastly the par 5s are long and tough to reach in 2. True greens with the occasional ball mark but other than that, great surfaces.
Great course!
Great layout, undulating greens, big fairways, thick rough, tricky bunkers, elevation changes, all around an enjoyable day. Now if we could only get people to fix their ball marks on the greens. But that's the players fault, not the Superintendent. .
Architects Golf Club
One of the best courses in the greater New York area I'm an Irish citizen living and working in New Jersey and I recommend this course to all my visiting friends. This course is work the effort
Solid golf course
I play Architects 3-4 time a year and enjoy it for its scenic design. It was disappointing that it took close to 5 hours to play on a weekday. The course conditions were very good for coming out of Winter. My biggest negative is something that the owners have little control over; Poor player etiquette. Does anyone fit ball marks anymore? I recently played at a much less renowned course where the greens were in much better shape. Its a shame because tees and fairways were excellent.
Fun Layout
Architects is a NJ gem. The concept is great, the amenities are top notch even by private club standards, and the course was in great shape even if it wasn't early season.
Course Needs TLC
For this time of year you should expect the course to be coming back to good shape , but it seemed overplayed and worn out . A couple of the greens have dead spots and sand filled gashes on them , fairways had empty divots all over them. These should be growing back now not looking like the end of the season . The 9th green was under heavy watering while we approached it and when we picked up our balls they were covered with black stinky manure smelling mud , if that's needs to be done then at least have something to wash your hands off near by , I used a puddle by the grill station .
What bunker did it go in?
Because of recent rains it was cart paths only, which renders the question "did you walk" a little misleading, yea I had a cart but I did my share of walking, believe me! The tees were flat, the fairways were wide, the sand was abundant and the greens were fine. The course played long in part because it was wet but I think even if it was bone dry it would be a very good test of your golf game. Even tough it's a bit of a hike for me i'm looking forward to playing it again real soon.
Excellent condition
Excellent condition for this time of year. Greens were true with excellent fairway conditions
Excellent Course
This is an excellent course. Can't wait til early summer when everything is in full bloom. Great layout. Only problem is the restaurant did not serve any food after the round. Although they had hot dogs and burgers at the turn. Staff was EXTREMELY friendly and professional. Planning on making that hour and a half drive again.
Not bad for mid-January
The snow had melted and the course had just opened. All the greens were playable and surprisingly rolling pretty good for mid-January. The course was cart path only so walking is best. Course was very wet. Pace of play was slightly under 4 hours. Very enjoyable round for mid-January golf in the northeast.
January Golf in NJ. - say no more
Course was in great shape, played with 2 great guys, we were the first group out and even with cart path only were done in 3:45. Beverage cart was out early, golf now price of $40 for one of the best publics in the State on a Saturday morning in January, look forward to more winter days like this. Well worth the hour drive to the course.
Worth the trip
Architects has been on my bucket list for a few years now, but I live in Binghamton NY, which is quite a drive. The rates there are generally quite high and I'm a bit miserly when it comes to forking out huge cash to play a course. I'd kept an eye on rates all year long and finally hit a hot rate on the off season that (combined with coupon codes) was a complete "no brainer". So my cousin Bob and I made the 2 hour trek on a chilly December afternoon to get it done. We found the pro shop staff to be cordial and the cart guy downright amiable. The course was in nice shape, considering the time of year and we had a great time. Each hole is inspired by the works of famous golf course architects (hence the course name-get it?) If you pay attention, there are signs near the tee boxes that tell a brief story of the architect whose work the hole is meant to replicate. After the round, we hung out at the bar in the clubhouse for some soup and a pint before heading home. It was a great experience and we hope to be back.
Worth our time.....and yours
My cousin Bob and I traveled down to Architects from the Binghamton NY area, for a rare December golf outing. Architects has been on our bucket list for some time and we figured 52 degrees and sunny on the golf course beat 72 degrees and crabby at the office. Well, the sun never showed (I should have been a meteorologist) but the golf was great. Everything you read about the "grandness" of Architects is true. The clubhouse is amazing, the staff, cordial and accomodating and the course superb. We finished a spectacular round in about 3 hours and 45 minutes, and that included the occasional wait on the threesome in front of us. The course features a unique design in that each hole is "inspired" by a different famous golf course designer, or "architect" (hence the course's name).
First time.
Our first time playing here. Fairways had been aerated but we're still in good shape and pretty wide. Greens were firm and fast. Teed off around 1245 and finished at about 420 on a fall afternoon, pused the limits of daylight. Definitely worth playing again, especially on a Hot Deal!!!
