The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Golfer's paradise in and out of the clubhouse
Distinction by design from the clubhouse to the golf course. This country club starts out by featuring a spectacular 16,000 sqft. clubhouse with a stunning blue stone patio and tent enclosure which has luxurious space capable of accommodating small, intimate events to large lavish affairs. It's perfect for ceremonies and cocktail receptions. The outdoor patio offers remarkable views of the golf course and rolling hills. One unique touch is a private bridal suite on site for the bride to be to get ready for that walk down the aisle. The executive chef prides himself with customizable menus to fit your every want and need with award winning cuisine that fits your budget. Their number one priority is your event, in which you deal with one manager Hillary Notarianni with decades of Wedding planning knowledge and expertise to go beyond your highest expectations one event at a time.
All this compliments a well designed course of 6,000 plus yards manicured to a picturesque landscape suiting a golfers dreams. The course plays the way it should with excellent greens, long rolling fairways, plenty of water hazards and strategically placed sand traps pretty much in front of most greens quite difficult to get up and down over. Tough par 3's, tricky par 5's and save your energy for long par 4's on the back nine which leave no room for error. Whether it's to fine dine at their full time restaurant, play a round, practice on the putting green or hit the range, it will be worth your while to enjoy this Country Club. Leagues, tournaments and memberships also available. It's a proven golf facility with an excellent restaurant, wedding and catering venue that in my eyes has many reasons to exist.
Had a great day...
Played on a late October day with temperature in the 80's. Fall foliage was in full bloom course was in excellent condition, the course was beautiful . Every hole is unique and presents a good challenge without feeling tricked up. The greens were in good condition and played at a good speed. There were only a few issues. Fairway sprinklers started going off on the back nine even though the course wasn't dry. Why run sprinklers during peak playing time? Round took 5 hours. The bugs were horrific. None of these issues would keep me from coming back, give it a try!
Bob's Architec's round
It was just a great da of golf
Course plays long
Great course and layout. However, the course does play long (gold tees) with many of par 4s difficult to reach in two and basically playing as short par 5s. A few of the holes on the back 9 were being aerified which was my only real gripe of the day. Other than that, the fairways and greens were in good shape. Will play again, but will move up a tee box. Played as a foursome with two foursomes in front of us and finished in about 4 hours and 15 minutes so pace of play was pretty good.
Amazing
Spectacular course.. couldnt play the tips because they were under repair.. (THANK GOD).. COURSE IS SUPER LONG AND GREENS WERE TRUE. Im a long hitter and still had trouble reaching some of the par 4s in two...
I just absolutely loved it.. couple of holes i was erratic with the driver but because of the course layout i was able to play some recovery golf...
Youll love the fresh and reasonably priced cigars at the clubhouse.. had a club sandwich that was pretty good.. my buddy had the wings afterwards and i must say they were delicious...
Course is a must play.. worth the drive and the price...
Wonderland of golf
Well, we had a 1 hour frost delay and I think you can count on this at this time of year. But once we got on the course it was worth the wait. Every hole was special as each one was a copy of a great hole somewhere in our country. I enjoyed myself and the company of the two guys we played with up there. I was even par going into 16 and just ran out of steam. Bogeyed my last 3. But I will make this course a once a month thing next year.
This course excelent overall condition.
This course excellent layout and charengeable.
Way too slow...
...nearly three hours for the front nine!! Too many similar comments on this otherwise beautiful course tells me they need to make adjustments.
The course itself is in great shape - fairly open but plays long so make sure the big stick is working when you play!
No course layout on the scorecard and no GPS on the carts..should be one or the other..might help with pace of play too..
Would go back but need to find off peak hours as five hours for a round is no fun for anyone..
Can't complain about hot deals
Even with aeration, the course was in excellent shape for the time of year. Putts still rolled nicely and the rough wasn't bad. Picked up a hot deal for $12 and definitely something I couldn't pass up. Get out before the cold weather sets in. I will be back!
Nice, fun course
Pros: Fantastic layout, very cool idea with each hole representing a different famous architect. Tee boxes were pretty nice. Fairways in good condition, but showed signs of recent aeration. Greens were pretty good, but again, showed signs of aeration. Food at the turn was good, but just typical burgers and dogs. They have a restaurant inside the clubhouse, but I didn't eat there. Carts were very nice electric carts. Range was nice, has grass teeing area, but was mats the only the day I played.
Cons: Pace was slow, about a 5 hour round. Bunkers were hit or miss, some being nice with others being too hard, not enough sand, or wet. Leaves were all over the place, but hey, that's fall golf in NJ.
Overall, I would make the hour and ten minute trip again to play Architects. It was a very nice course, with beautiful views and just a very fun place to play. It can be a very difficult course, like today was with wind and difficult pin placements, or it can be an easy course. I would definetly encourage you to play a round there before this season is over.
No Notice Of Aeration/Come On Time
Greens and Fairways are spiked with no alert. Starter was extremely rude if you book with Golf Now regarding starting early, accommodations etc. If you have problems with golf now golfers, don't use golf now. That being said, nice layout back nine, front 9 is a swamp. Bunkers are concrete. Bring bug spray. Clubhouse is a wedding hall, not a clubhouse.
Aeration
Aeration not mentioned on booking, mostly all green are cover by leaf?
Play it again? Definitely
Great layout, fantastic shape.
My only gripe was that no one advised us of green aeration.
I understand the need for it but the price did not reflect the inconvenience.
Overall fantastic track with great people.
Awesome layout
First time, shied because of cost and picked up a good discount through Golf Awesome layout, spectacular scenery, each holes prompts a "wow"!
Accurately challenging for tees selected
No gimmicky holes as do often find even in private clubs
Played day after heavy rain and course was in awesome shape given the circumstances. Water in parts of traps, not course fault. The 70 minute drive totally immaterial and will add to "must play" list
Great Course minus aeration
Architects GC. In my opinion is one of the best semi private clubs in NJ. I would have given it 5 stars but the day we played the greens were aerated. Friendly staff and challenging layout.
Great Conditions!!!
Great track and the course was in pristine shape. Worth the drive, if you can get tee time deal or are willing to pony up prime time rates!
Interesting layout
I play here once or twice per year. It's very expensive weekend mornings (too much for me, their target market is people coming from east of Phillipsburg) but the rate drops considerably at 2pm. Each hole is supposed to represent the style of a different course architect and I think it's very well done. A lot of really cool holes. It seems to get a lot of play so some of the greens had a ton of ball marks but in general the course is in great shape. Food and drinks in the restaurant were good and reasonably priced. I did not walk the course but it looks like it would be a more difficult than average course to walk. PA residents get a price break on Tuesdays. Not a lot of trees on the course so leaves are not an issue in the fall. Pace is usually 4.5 hours which is acceptable for the layout of the course.
Mr. G
Great course....a few of the greens were a little slow/fuzzy do to heavy traffic....we played at 3pm.
Always fun to play this one!
Great Layout, could use improvement on the non-golf elements.
The course is fantastic and we were paired up with a great twosome. The pace was slow, but since it was the beginning of a holiday weekend, we expected it. The restaurant was average at best and the tables were dirty. The waitress was more suited to another line of work.
Spectacular
Course was awesome. Layout was spectacular. Pace of play sloooooowwwwwwwwww. In fairness it was a sundaybof a holiday weekend but the back nine still shouldn't take 3 1/2 hours. Waited 15 minutes on every hole to tee off. No Ranger on course managing pace. Would definitely play there again, probably not on a weekend. Definitely worth the hour drive.
