The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Good course
Great layout, challenging holes but course does not drain well. Fairways are soggy and bunkers filled with water after only slight rain the day prior. Greens could be better too, bit pricey for a course that's an hour an a half drive away.
My Sunday Round
This was my 3rd round at Architects over the last 5 years. The facilities, layout and scenic views are excellent.
The negatives: 7 minutes between foursomes led to a 4.5 hour round and waiting many times. The sand traps were poor - no drainage, no sand. On several occasions we were unable to hit out of the traps.
Not worth the money
Tees and fairways were in excellent shape. The greens were some of the worst Ive ever seen. It was like putting on a cobblestone road. I would not pay more than 50 bucks to play this course.
Wonderful value
Enjoyed the course, and the challenges. Many of the holes are certainly well bunkered . The staff was very friendly. I recommend this course.
5 hour weekday round
Course is in great shape. Greens are fast and tricky. Ball marks all over green, come on players, treat the course with some respect. Thursday morning play, 5 hour round.
Worth the Drive
Drove out over an hour from just outside NYC. Didn't know what to expect but was really impressed by the end. Great layout and pristine conditions. It felt like an exceptional value at $75 for an 8 a.m. Sunday tee time. Got the round done in 4 hours and 15 minutes which was good considering we were slotted in nicely between the groups in front and behind.
Make sure to know get there early enough to make use of the all grass practice facility. Yardage book or phone app are very useful for first timers as there are some blind landing zones, although they're definitely fair.
Great course
I really like the course and have played it several times over the past couple of years. We teed off earlier than our scheduled time. Unfortunately after the 2nd hole we had to wait to hit nearly every shot until we finished. It was a 5 hour round and we teed off at 7:39a. Course was in pretty good shape except the greens were showing some wear and tear due ball marks never being repaired. Staff was friendly and there were rangers riding around.
Architects built for fun
About equidistant from both NYC and Philly, Architects is a romp through golf history. It gets progressively challenging as you move along to the end of your round. The rough is rough, fairways are often wide and the greens putt true and are in good shape. It's fairly easy to have a good round here but a bit of bad luck could add those extra strokes. Practice facilities are good (although they could give you more balls for the money) and the restaurant and midway bbq stand are decent.
Great Golf eat at home
This is a great golf course. Getting a simple hot dog at the turn was very difficult for the folks. Even though the course was packed and a ranger was off for the day hence our 6 hour round. The grill guy at the turn shut it down before we could get to him. When we went inside we mistakenly paid only to have to wait for chef gut to eventually show up with 2 dogs that he still had to cook. He quickly burned the outside leaving the middle still frozen. Eat at home or pack some snacks.
This course has scenic views and secluded holes.
I've played this course several times in the past and it is one of those courses that is on my "must play" list - TWICE annually even though it is probably 50 miles/one hour from my home in Middlesex County. The course is always in immaculate condition and is among my Top 10 List and I've played most of the golf courses in New Jersey. Club house is also beautiful with good food and drinks.
Plays Long
Course is in great shape all around. Big wide fairways, fast undulating greens. I would like to see senior tees here. The course, from the blues is 6100+ and plays longer. Maybe something around 5600 - 5800
great Day of Golf
Beautiful course, great weather, foursome spread out.
when we got to the tee box the foursome in front was leaving the green. The foursome behind us never got to the tee box while we were on the green.
Some of the edges of the greens were bare and burnt but did not affect play.
Beautiful Club house would be a great spot for outings. Food was good but not outstanding. Service was great, food prices a little high but not outrages.
Everyone in my foursome wants to play there again.
So close to perfection...
This is easily the best the course in the Lehigh Valley imo. The Architects Club had always been on my bucket list but I never took the 90 minute drive from the Scranton area. The layout overall is exceptional. This was the first time playing the course and except for 3-4 holes everything is straight forward. I thought the back nine was considerably tougher than the front. I'm a pretty solid stick and the stretch of 13-15 from the gold tees was work.
The views are excellent in all directions. This really is a great piece of property. The hole markers with historical info is a great touch! The clubhouse and locker room were very nice. The starter was helpful as well.
The only downfall is if the Architects Club truly wants to be a upscale course the conditions needs to improve. The greens really did look pretty rough. There's numerous ball marks that don't get repaired. There were also some weeds in the fairways here and there. The bunkers overall were very nice. Definitely better than the vast majority of public courses.
I got a great deal on GolfNow but would gladly pay more if the conditions were better. Given the numerous so-so public courses in the area this place could really set itself apart with a little more refinement. I think $100 weekend rate would be fair with a little better conditions. As it is, I'll will definitely be back again this year when the price is once again right.
Worth the rate through Golf Now
I gave the above rating based on the fee I paid through Golf Now, which the regular rates are not justified. The amenities such as staff do deserve a five star rating but the course could be better kept condition when the rate they are asking without the discount. I die understand the mange meant is making every effort to keep the course in the condition it is in if not better as I witness ground crew out there late on a Sunday afternoon to cool the greens down.
In conclusion this course is worth it's wait in gold through golf now but regular right can be a little expensive.

Excellent course. Played from the tips & loved the beautiful views and scenery . Greens could have held better, but the greens were very tough to putt because speed was needed in all hole placements . Use golfnow.com for great deals !!
TERRIFIC EXPERIENCE
Had the great pleasure of pairing up with an experienced golfer who knew a lot about the history of the game. Terrific course layout. The clubhouse was hosting the Lopatcong HS Prom & the HUGE EVENT did not even interfere with our experience. GREAT LOCATION for both Golf & Events...
DJ
Excellent GC; if you get a chance to play it jump at it. Feels a little nostalgic playing the hole after reading about the architect and his famous designs. Much like being in an outdoor museum. Great track
Play It Early
We drove from a ways away and really liked the course. There was nice elevation changes, course was in very good shape, and pace was solid. However, we paid $65 with GolfNow. It was well worth that price. Not worth the $110 they charge after 8:00am.
Slice friendly
This course is laid out in a way that us friendly to players that slice their driver.
The course us very scenic and the staff helpful and friendly but the most of the fairways are filled with mud divots. Something you would expect to see at the end of the season but it expect in early May.
The play was slow - we had to wait on every hole.
