The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Great Course and Layout!
Great course. Always in good condition. Plus they have a range.
Very nice course
Dissapointed with not knowing that greens were air rated. You would think someone would mention it. Besides that, wonderful day.
Best round ever
I not only really enjoyed playing here I had my best round ever. Need I say more?
aeration was done week of 9-14
there was no heads up or warnings that the course had aeration done the week of the 14th....greens were very bad. pace of play was horrible...took 5+ hours and never saw a ranger...normally this is a good place to play but i would stay away for a bit until the greens come back and play early before the pace becomes a crawl
Course management was very helpful
We had just finished 9 holes of our 18 when my wife's sugar level dropped sharply. She is diabetic and didn't get the carb's into her around hole 7 or 8, waiting for the barbecued hamburger treat at 9 holes. We had a medical emergency whre the Squad was summoned and restored her sugar level to normal. We ate and went home, having only played 9 holes when we paid for 18. To our surprise, not only had the corse staff called the Squad for us, the management gave us two free rain checks to come back and play 18 holes again, on them!. What a surprise, especially when they did so much for my wife and I to get us safely back to health and home. They were the best!!!
As for the course, the greens were recently aerated, but this was not mentioned when making the reservation. It was like putting on a pegboard, but the rest of the course was in great shape!
Course great, no notice of aerated greens tho
Course is great but there was no notifications of greens being aerated either online or even upon check in in pro shop...very disappointing. Wouldn't have played there if I knew, but that's probably why they don't post any notice.
Good Course
I played on 9-16-15, fairways are beat up, lot of divots, greens are aerated other than that great course, each whole is different, I got paired up with two other people, enjoyed the round, should have played from tips, instead played from Gold, felt little easier, finished the round in 3.5Hrs.
Thanks to Golf now for the great price, hope to play in few weeks again.
Architect's doesn't disappoint
Only reason I didn't give a better than average review for course conditions was the club was mid-aeration on the greens. An with recent heavy rain, there were some sand traps that were washed out and or filled with water.
Enjoyed the round, great service from the cart, fairways and most of the greens were in fine shape. There is rough here, we belong to Fiddlers Elbow and the course here is in far better condition than any of the three at Fiddlers. Go figure.
May Be the Best Course EVER
Beautiful Course, Great Conditions, VERY Fast greens, and a Courteous Staff.
The par 4s were a little long or my game, but well worth the effort.
Fantastic day
First of all $40? Really? I couldn't believe it. It was an hour away, but would definitely do it again. Tee time was 7:39 got there around 7:15, hit a few balls out on range. Pleasant guy in the clubhouse chatted with us about the unbelievable happenings in the NFL the previous night. We teed off on #10, course was in pristine condition. Freshly raked bunkers, rolled greens, early morning dew on the fairways. Played from the gold tees. Magnificent views, challenging holes, friendly staff, manicured golf course. For only $40 on a Monday. I thought I was dreaming. Driver every hole but the par 3s. After the round we had lunch inside, food was great.
Great staff. Tough conditions
The course was in tough shape because of a ton of rain the night before. Bunkers were actual puddles but the overall experience was awesome. Staff was so nice and friendly. Pace was a little slow because of cart part only but understandable. Overall great course and I will certainly try to visit again. Also major points for having a yardage book to give each architect credit
Just the Right Amount of Everything
I played Architects 3 years ago and was unimpressed with the conditions. Between soggy fairways, beat up greens, and inconsistent bunkers I didn't think I'd make the hour plus trek to return. On a whim my normal playing partner and I decided to take a flyer on Architects, I was more than happy with my second visit. First of all the course conditions were much improved, fairways were great and the bunkers while hard were much more consistent. The highlight of this course is in its historical approach to design. If you know the courses certain holes are modeled after the golf only becomes more fun and interesting. For example the challenging par 3 12th which is designed to emulate Merion's famous 17th. Or the par 5 13th which is a combination of features from Augusta National. Even the first hole which really, doesn't stand out at all, has a slight homage to St. Andrews with a true pot bunker fronting the large green. Finally the 4 closing holes are some of the most fun on the golf course and if you are in a friendly match with a friend they ask you to hit a few shots you probably didn't have all day (longer ins from sloping fairways, blind tee shots, etc). Overall the increased quality control and Architects way of emulating a hole without copying it make for a fun day of golf with just the right amount of challenge mixed in.
Architect's Awesome
Well designed course, not too tight nor too wide. Just the right amount of challenge for amateur to experienced players. Played an early morning round and the dew was thick on grass, fairways were a big soggy in spots, even splashy from amount of water. But all in all, great time. Will definitely play again. After all, dropping a 60 plus chip in the hole at 4 was the tease to bring me back for another round.
Great Course, Pace of Play Awful
Pace of play was atrocious. Play here all the time and it was one of the worst of the summer. Close to five hours to play. Rangers were on the course, and even though they kept telling us play was going to speed up, it never did. Biggest issue is the course uses 9-minute intervals for tee times. Just doesn't work. Too much bottlenecking. There were three groups on one par 3. It's a fantastic course that is only 5 minutes from where I live, but I would suggest making early tee times and not playing in the afternoon due to pace issues. Played in less than 4 hours on Saturday morning.
great labor day round
great course, I wished I didn't wait so long to play it. They have kept this place is great shape especially with all the heat this summer. the greens were in great shape and had pace. Rolled true.
I got a great rate and got early tee time so we played in just under 4 hours...a proper round of golf. I will definitely play Architects again.
Overrated and Unfriendly
The course was okay but I expected the conditions to be much better. The rangers hassled us throughout our round on our pace of play. At one point he told us we were nine minutes behind. We were consistently less than a hole behind and we had to wait for the group ahead of us on all par 3s. The staff really made the day unpleasant. I won't be returning.
1st Time Player
Finally had the time & decided to drive the hour to play the course I had heard about several times. Everything I had heard was positive which was a bit confusing because it seems people always find a way to complain about something. I had an early tee time, went out as a single, and was thoroughly impressed by the staff professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. The course was in terrific shape, not an easy job with this recent dry weather. Bunkers were well maintained, on course staff courteous and helpful. Enjoyed a wonderful golf experience. I look forward to returning in the near future.
I would recommend playing the correct tees for the most fun & timely experience.
Great Course, Great idea
This is my second time playing Architects in the past few years and I wasn't disappointed. It is in top notch condition for public course. I think it's such a great idea to model the holes after some of the best designers in the world yet it doesn't feel contrived at all. I love reading the history of each hole prior to playing it. In my opinion this is a bucket list course for anyone within an hour or so drive. While challenging, the course is very fair off the tees and you always feel like you have a shot to recover even with a questionable drive. The greens are very challenging yet were a fair medium fast speed. Yes there are a lot of ball marks as some people have commented but i found them no issue to putting. After all you have the fix the one's in your way before putting or didn't they know that. The greens are a soft condition compared to any other course I've played this year so were very receptive and fair to well played shots. If you've never played this course do yourself a favor and head out there asap.
Gorgeous
One of the best course in the area. Beautiful conditions and well maintained for how little rain we have been getting. Nice roll to the greens. Just a great course to go out and have some fun and get a good round in. Price is well worth it.
over booked
upon arrival we were told they did not have enough carts so we would be shuttled to the driving range, (That should have raised some flags)
We waited at most holes, sometimes as many as three foursomes at the par 3's A horrible experience. One that will not be repeated!
