The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

1st hole Photo submitted by kobeguy2 on 11/17/2012
Beautiful
Beautiful course. It has a very warm, welcoming feeling to it. It's forgiving and open, but still requires accuracy and distance. Visually its impressive, and each differently styled hole brings a sense of freshness to the course.
My only complaint is that the driving range was closed from 1115 to 1230 so they could cut the grass. That was not a well thought-out decision and caused my partner and I to have to move back our tee time an hour in order to warm up. It also caused at least 20 other players to have to skip their warm up. It's completely nonsensical to close the driving range during the busy hours of a golf day, and especially to do it without notifying golfers in advance.
All in all it was a perfect day for golf and the course is a lot of fun to play. It will not test the likes of a scratch golfer, but will allow any level of player to have a blast and enjoy the game.
Excellent course
Course was well maintained and in great condition. Staff was friendly and I played a 3 hour round. Greens were fast and everything was well groomed which is rare on a golf course in northern New Jersey in the end of October. Will definitely go again
Nice.
Good course and a solid value. Conditions of greens were very good. Rough and fairways were good. Bunkers were too hard, not enough sand in them. Layout is fair and picturesque. A bit odd in short front nine and longer back nine with several 400+ par fours. Best carts I've ever used. Quick, quiet, and automatic breaks.
beautiful course
Overall good value for the money. Course is in great shape. My husband rod played not me. He really enjoyed the course.
Worth the Ride
I live an hour and a half away but it was worth the ride.I had heard quite a bit about the course and the layout and its rating as #2 Public golf course in NJ. I have now played the top 10 In NJ and would definately rate it in the Top 5. The day hade sunshine and in the high 70's the leaves were changing in the hills around so it made for a Great setting. Lived up to it's billing the layout was Great and each hole had it's own character and style as it was set out to due. I played with 3 good guys from North Jersey and they had driven over an hour , All of us were10 or under golfers so it was nice to be paired with a group like that.We all truly enjoyed the day and felt it was worth the extra time to play,we all said we would come back next year.
The course has enough challenge for any level golfer. The course is in great shape. For $40, greens fees, range balls and cart, this is a good deal
A good deal at $40, but not at regular prices. Course is in great shape, greens are rolling nicely. Multiple tee boxes allow for challenge at all handicap levels. Food and food accommodations are very good and so is the location. I'd play it again at this price.
Even in the rain its 5 star
Everything was perfect, it was a pleasure to play on such a nice course.
Great day
Architects Golf Club is worth the ride and cost. The course is in excellent shape and the staff is great.
worth the trip
I traveled two hours to play this course and I'm glad I did a great course in great shape and fun to play can't wait to go back
Great course but..........
I love this course and travel 1.5 hours two times a year to play it. Don't pay full rate, always a Hot Deal offered. Course was in above average shape, just a little soft in some areas. Reason for reduced rating is because of staff and pro shop. Staff is no help and pro shop looks like my garage, stuff thrown everywhere, very unprofessional
Pleasantly surprised
I will definitely return to play again. We had heard of this course a few times from other golfers that were paired up with us at other courses. They all suggested we try it and how good it was. We have gone to other recommended golf courses and we were not always happy. That is why I was cautiously optimistic . This now is in my top 5 of places within my North East PA area.
Great course
I really like this course. I played the golds the first time I played it and played the tips the next time. It's pretty open as I didn't lose a ball either time I played. There are some great holes and I will definitely be returning.
Lot of Mosquitos and Course is pretty beat up
Its a good ride from where I live, I heard so many good things about the course so I decided to drive. Thanks to Golfnow for the great deal. Excellent lay out and beautiful scenic area, pretty open. Fairways overplayed and greens are not in great shape, over all course is not in a great shape at this time of the year. Too many mosquitos from first hole to all the way . Will go back again, played as a single, took me about 3.5hrs. enjoyed the scenery a lot.
Thanks to Golf now again.
Thanks to Golfnow
After reading several reviews I drove almost hour and half to play this course, great lay out, I expected lot tougher than what I saw, if you have your A game, you can really score. Couple of par fours are long but reachable. Aerated the t-boxes and Greens, fairways looked beat up. Lots and lots of mosquitos, could not hit the ball at all, thanks to Golfnow, great deal, finished the round in 3.5hrs.
Will go back again, have fun.
No water at water stations on hole #s 7 and 13
Was a hot a humid day and there was no water at hole #s 7 & 13.
excellent is not for aerating of fairways
First time playing Architects after hearing so many good reviews about it from buddies. I have to say, it is an excellent course and well worth the (discounted) fees. The only disappointment was aerating the fairways. I have a big problem when not being told in advance that aerating was to take place. That is the only demerit for an otherwise excellent experience. P.S>. check out the super crab cake sandwich.
Great Course
Pretty open but lots of bunkers (I found most of them). The greens are big but challenging. There are a lot of very cool holes.
I wish I lived closer to it!
Super value for a really good public facility. Course was in great shape and the scenery is awesome. It is a ride from where I live but well worth it..........Looking forward to going back!
Great lay out
Beautiful layout, beautiful day. course was pretty beat up. I guess they are getting a lot of play. Greens were NOT in good shape, no grass, lots of sandy patches. Fairways were just overplayed. Got stuck behind 6-some from end of the league and they finally let our 2-some play through on 7. caught next 4-some and waited till 10th hole, hoped to play through, but they continued on instead of just finishing their 9 hole league, so we hopped on 1 again. played 2nd front 9 in 45 minutes.
Great value
Booked through golfnow with no issues. Took a client there and it was seamless. Course in in very good shape and is definitely playable. The starter was very accommodating with me even though my client was running late.

Jerome, Thank you for your kind words. We're pleased that you enjoyed your round and experience at Architects. Your comments about the course conditions are mostly positive, which we truly appreciate. Thank you! However your concern about the bunkers is noted and will certainly be a priority for our grounds maintenance crew to improve our golf course.
It's interesting that you mentioned the "odd" short front nine and long back nine. This is actually by design! This layout is representative of the improvements in golf course development that occurred over the "seventy years of great design styles (1885-1955)," that we celebrate at The Architects Golf Club. Enhancements in construction equipment and modern technology allowed course builders to build longer golf courses as the 20th century progressed. The short front and long back nine were designed to signify these achievements.
