The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

This is like playing a private course but a busier
I really enjoy playing this course even though I have a 75 min drive. The staff is friendly and saved me money by giving me a senior rate(I'm 61) which I did not know they had. The course is in great shape, challenging and was a pleasure to play!
Fun in the sun
Course was excellent. While most other courses are drying up with the hot sun and fairways are hard, Architects has a great bounce allowing you to get the club through the ball with a divot, and not bang the club on hard pan fairways.
Beverage cart was around enough times to insure a cold drink was available.
Good experience for a quick weekday round
Played 6:50 on a Tuesday. Good pace of play. Well kept course, greens a little slow since recently sanded. Fairly challenging for my son and I as 3 handicaps. Would play again at the $69 rate.
The Greens are Sanded!!!
I like this course and play a few times every year. For this round, however, the tee boxes and fairways were in good condition but the greens were sanded and very slow. It was very difficult to judge the speed and the greens were full of the ball path marks from the players in front. I wish that the golf course informed us about it before because it was not worth to drive there for 1,5 hours with the current condition of the greens. Also, the pace of the play for this round was very slow due to the foursome in front of us, who fell 3 holes behind. The rancher did not let us go thru even there were 3 empty holes in front them. The rancher said that the foursome were in pace of 41/4 hour. But another foursome in front of them finished 31/2 hours, which we could have done as well. I know that these issues are temporary and the course will be a good condition again!!!
Really enjoyed the course
This course was a far ride from the NYC area but it was well worth the trip. Staff were friendly and helpful and set me up as soon as I got there. Course was not crowded and in great condition.
The course looks straightforward because it's very wide-open, but that is deceiving. The 2nd shot is the most important shot of the course so if you don't do well off the tee, you know immediately you're in for a long hole.
I would definitely return and recommend.
Nice course
Nice course, played there many time, always nice...
Love it!
Love the whole concept of modeling holes after famous classic golf architects! Course was in excellent shape in every way, and the greens had the perfect combination of being receptive yet fast. There are several outstanding holes from a design perspective that balance strategy, challenge, and aesthetics, such as number 7, 10, 11, 13, and 17. I would gladly drive 1.5 hours again to play as it's well worth it.
The entire staff was very welcoming and attentive. Timing from the cart girl was impeccable to keep us all hydrated.
It also turned out to be my lucky day where I shot my first ever hole-in-one on number 8, and the guys at the pro shop made it easy for me to register the occasion and offered several tips on other freebies I could get to commemorate this event. The next day I was informed that I won a complimentary round for being closest to the pin. This is what I call great service.
The golf experience alone is first class, and it has a special place in my heart.

always good
I play this course several times a year and it never disappoints. The course is well maintained, they make sure pace of play is acceptable and the staff is well organized.
Great course for the price
Architects gives folders great diversity of holes, reachable par 5's, short par 3's but at the same time long par 4's. Specially, the back 9 requires long drives and demanding long approach shots.
Great Condition
Course is in great condition but tee times are close together and rangers don't speed up groups
Thoroughly Enjoyable course
A lovely course, well maintained, and a pleasure to play. More challenging than many public courses with interesting trap locations and water hazards. I would have appreciated a handout showing the course layout as it would have been very helpful in managing the course but none was offered. Still highly recommended.
Nice Course
The course is pretty nice but short of expectations. The pot bunker on #1 was a nice touch but very shallow as compared to what we would see on a true Scottish links course. The greens were somewhat slow too which was surprising. But I enjoyed the day despite the hour plus drive from Jersey City. We'll probably put this on the list for a once a year visit.
Overall a nice round
About 6 or so greens were in poor condition, a ton of ballmarks that had not been repaired and small bald spots from older ball marks. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape on every hole. Backed up by 8:30am on the weekend, so went out about 35 minutes late, but overall pace once on the course wasn't terrible for a weekend.
Great track, but very slow and very wet under foot. plus a few "sticky fingered" golfs took my golf ball - twice
Very good layout, although sometimes hard to work out the line off the black tees. Fairways were very wet, there was a thunderstorm two days before but it looked like they still had the fairway sprinklers on overnight. Pace of play was SHOCKING - over 5 hours and over half hour late starting. Twice I had brand new pro-v1's pocketed by sticky fingered players in other groups - very poor etiquette, both balls were on the fairway. Would like to play again when the fairways are drier and the course less crowded.
Great golf on Saturday Morning
I decided to take advantage of a golf now deal 30% off for a 654Am tee time Got my complementary range balls to warm up. The golf course was in excellent shape and the greens were fast. Do yourself a favor and visit Architects.

paired up with a threesome all friendly and good players. Was able to pass the grp ahead on first tee and after that smooth sailing. Well worth the money!
Architects Golf Course - You need to Play this course
The golf course is in great shape. Each hole has one of the great architects themes which they did a fantastic job with. The course is farirly wide however, you can make the course how difficult you want by your selection of one of the 4 tee boxes (black, gold, blue, and red). The outdoor grill on the turn is a great idea to keep the pace of play moving, and serves up great hot dogs and burgers.
Current course conditions
Get out there ASAP. The course is in great shape. The rough is thick. Greens are running smooth. I had 28 putts on the day. Too bad people don't replace divots or fix ball marks. Please replace your divots or fill with divot sand mix and fix your ball marks.
One of the best public courses in NJ
I try to play here at least a few times a year. It's very open but the layout is long and many of the approach shots are challenging with well protected greens that can in themselves be a bit of a challenge.
When I get on the first tee at that long straight par five I'm thinking two things, birdie and a great day of golf. I seldom get the former but always get the latter.
