The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

1st hole Photo submitted by kobeguy2 on 11/17/2012
Challenging course with good variety of holes.
Well designed course that provides risk / reward options.
Enjoyable course, but a little pricey
Played on a beautiful Friday morning at 9:00. We were the first group out and the staff actually seemed surprised to see golfers arrive. Why? Probably becuase Architects apparently doesn't believe in discounting rates. I've got to believe that if they discounted rates 20%, they would get three times the number of players - but obviously that's not their strategy. So, we paid the "rack rate," but we had the course to ourselves. Wonderful day of golf. The course was in great shape, the different architect styles were interesting, and we played in 3:15. Generous fairways prevent the need for ball hunting. Course seems to play longer than the card. Took the advice of the golf shop and played from the blue tees (6200) rather than the gold tees (6500) and glad we did. Enjoyed the round, but not sure I'll be back given the price.
A Must Play
Fantastic layout, course is challenging but fair. I rank it with Heron Glen as my favorite to play. Country club feel.
MUST PLAY, ONE OF TOP PUBLICS IN NJ/PA/NY/CT area
simply a great round. Layout is so cool, each hole is based off a famous legend designer.
Excellent, if pricey course
An interesting interpretation of golf course designs from famous course architects (hence the name).
First time playing here after hearing great reviews. Went with a friend and was paired with another twosome. Weather wasn't amazing, but the course more than made up for it with some challenging yet fun holes. It is pricier than some other courses locally, but is worth it.
The deep rough is very challenging (if you hit into it, expect to take a drop with a new ball), but the fairways and first cut are great and the greens are very consistent. There was a reasonable amount of water on the course (it had rained overnight for an 8:33 tee time) but the greens were still quick and didn't lose much speed or break.
Views are also fantastic while you're playing the round.
Had an excellent round (shot my first 95 ever) and am definitely planning to go back - hopefully will arrange an early tee time and get a replay round in as well.
A special round
Architects has a great layout and it's fun and fair.
great play for every level golfer
we played the blue tees, about 6200 yards and enjoyed every hole. the course presents a great setting and is very good shape. i would go back in a heartbeat and it is 50 miles from my home
Excellent course
This was my first time playing this course and I was very impressed with the conditions of the course. The fairways felt like a carpet. The greens were challenging to read. Overall, a great experience and I will come back to this.
It is a very challenging course.
There was slow players ahead of us that held up and others waited every hole. I figured not only that players tried to find their balls in the rough but also some hit twice. Other than that it was great course to enjoy a round with friends.
Overall, It was a good course.
This course has Pot Bunkers!
Beautiful hilly course. Greens are fairly easy. I know that because I did a 3 putt only in 1 or 2 holes. Plenty of challenges with bunkers laid out at the right spots and wide bunkers like a professional course.
Great course for the money......
Course was in great shape. Greens were fast but received the ball very well. Pace of play was perfect. Back nine has some great par 4's from the back tees. Can't wait to get back out there.
One of the best!
From pulling into the parking lot and seeing the gorgeous stone clubhouse and pro shop to walking up 18 to the wide open back patio, Architects is a visual joy. Each hole designed in the style of an old hole architect, you are treated to wonderful designed from 1 - 18. Surrounded by gorgeous mountainous views, fountains, and creeks, this course is a pleasure to play. Open enough for the novice and still challenging enough for the more seasoned players, it has it all. The greens and fairways were meticulously taken care of. Holes well marked with great signage and the flow was fantastic. I highly suggest grabbing the yardage book for $3.75 from the pro shop. Not only does it give a great look prior to teeing off each page is a little history lesson about the hole and the architects it's designed after. Really added to the experience.
The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Just an overall great experience - and with the Golfnow.com deal (included free range balls) it really couldn't be beat. We liked this place so much we grabbed a member packet (it is semi-private) and are considering joining.
SLOW
3:00 tee time on a Saturday. Did not finish round due to darkness after 5 hours. A group a few groups in front of us was a hole and a half behind. No starter on the course at all. Waited on every tee, even after par 3's. Miserable.
Great Challenging Course
Most holes have wide open fairways. Each hole has emulation of famous golf architect's hole. Par 5 on back nine walk over Augusta like bridge. Nice views.
Great course for the money--especially the twilight rate
I have played Architects twice and its a fun course with holes that should be fun for players of all skill levels. The staff is very friendly and they are very efficient.
The pace of play tends to be very slow---so I wish the marshals could police this better--I did not see one marshal during the entire round.
But the best part is the $65 twilight rate that includes a bucket of practice balls and a cart.
Its definitely a course I will keep coming back to.
The concept sounds greater than the actual layout.
In playing this unique concept course, it is a disappointment if you think that there will be massive differences between the holes that pay homage to the old line golf architects. But what you do have is a course with 18 classically designed golf holes, with little water in play. The 17th hole, a slightly elevated par 3 is a beauty. Good bang for the buck.
Great Value
Hadn't played here in two years. It is a great design in excellent shape. The staff makes you feel welcome. Looking forward to going back.
Worth the Trip
I'm a 14, exploring other tracks in NJ/PA. Heard of Architects, and signed up.
First, I want to share I loved the course. If is both tough & fair, and some holes (9th) are gorgeous and challenging. Even with green aeration, the golf experience was a good one.
My only complaint: For a course claiming this "stature" and cost ($100+) the service was poor. After the round, I want my clubs cleaned, and willing to pay. No one was to be found, and when I asked how I can clean them, I was told: ("The bucket is over there").
I recommend the golf course, but caution those who like service with their green fees...
