Very enjoyable round of Golf
This was my first time playing this course and found an incredible deal through Golf Now. My wife and I teed off at 12:24pm and paid only $39 via a Hot Deal. We were paired up with 2 other guys around our age (early 30s) who were great to play with. I was especially excited to play this course because I have a Golf Channel Am Tour event coming up on June 12th and really wanted the chance to play the course before the tournament. I am very glad that I did because there are some tee shots where Driver is definitely not needed and knowing this will give me a bit of an advantage over anyone else in the tournament playing the course for the first time. Anyway, my wife and I arrived at the course about an hour early to make sure that we could take full advantage of the warm-up range and putting green before beginning our round. To be honest, I was SLIGHTLY disappointed with the range...and I do mean slightly, only because the grass surface where you hit from was chewed up. The range itself is far better than most that I have been to as there are legit greens, complete with yardages to each, for the golfer to sharpen their aim prior to teeing off. There are also sand-traps surrounding the range greens which helps you prepare for the real shots that await. The practice green was great though and really provided you with on-course conditions. The speed was dead on and that is probably one of the most important traits a practice green can have. It helped me get comfortable with the speed and gave me the confidence to knock in those 7 footers for par on the course. Once we did tee off (from the Blues for me...Reds for my wife), the pace of play was never an issue and the course was in near perfect conditions. The tee box areas were flat and well maintained, the fairways were mowed tights, the rough was just enough to take some spin off your ball but not thick enough to where you couldn't get your club on it, and the greens rolled true and quick. If I were to guess, I would say that they were rolling 10. The course layout was pretty good and each hole was a challenge. Sometimes I find that 18 holes feels forced in to a confined little space and you always end up with that 95 yard par 3 or 280 yard par 4....there was none of that here though as each hole had character and demanded good shots. I ended up shooting an 80 (42 Front, 38 Back) with birdies on 7 and 16. That 80 shoulda / coulda / woulda been a 75 or 76 had it not been for a couple of 3 putts and short misses for par. Oh well, it happens. The greens really were great though and I think are fair to the point of where you feel like you can make a putt with the line and speed...meaning there are no bumps or divots or inconsistencies that make a green unfair. There are no frustrations...except if you make a bad stroke. It is a fair course that rewards good shots and good putts, simple as that. Even if I did not have an upcoming tournament here, I would 100% play this course again. I asked my wife and she echoed the same things...from the Reds, for a golfer with only 2 years playing experience , it is a very fair course and is fun to play. She made some putts too that had the other 2 guys we were playing with shake their heads! It was a great day and well worth the hour drive to tee off. When you do have a Driver in your hands here, feel free to grip and it and rip it because there is not a lot of trouble to find. A good score can be shot here but if you aren't careful, you can blow up just as easily. In conclusion, give this course a shot even if you don't get the Golf Now Hot Deal. It is a fun course, has great practice facilities, and will test any level golfer.
Good conditions
Had a 12:15 tee time on a Tuesday in mid April and breezed through in 3-1/2 hrs with my wife. Never saw a person, I know it's not in season yet but was shocked nobody was on the course. Except for some of the sand traps the course was in good shape.
Great Course
I usually Play this course on my way down to AC or on the way back home, and it never disappoints. Yesterday there were aeration holes, but it wasn't horrendous. Plus we almost had the place to ourselves so that compensated for the holes on the green. This course is very women friendly from the red tees and easy to score well if you play carefully.
It's an OK course
I've award heard great things about Sea Oaks and was finally able to play it on Saturday. It was OK, I didn't see all the hoopla about the course. I would play it again if the price was right but definitely would not go out of my way to play it.
Consistent
Always a consistent place to enjoy the game. Conditions favorable for this late in the year! See you in season!!!!
Sea oaks
I usually play this course in the winter, on golf now, 55 degrees for 30 bucks you can't beat that deal ! course is in great shape, I love the layout, it's a very challenging course, big greens , you feel like your the only ones on course with the layout, if your in the area I strongly recommend trying this course!
Worth the drive
A pleasant surprise. Course was well maintained for this time of the year. Some holes were very challenging --#16 in particular. Some played longer due to wind and uphill layout but were a good challenge. Some were short and not very imaginative but overall it was a very good experience.
Good Shape Given the Season
For November, the course is in good shape with their greens rolling fast and true. Some areas in the fairway/rough could use a leaf blower but it's what comes with the Fall season. If you miss bad into the tree lines, there's a good chance you'll em in the leaves.
Another great day at Sea Oaks
Greens were in process of aeration, small holes, and yet, they were so good that they were still the best green I've putted on this year. This is a great course, if you haven't played here you need to book, you will not be dissatisfied. We played on a Tuesday noon, and the course was wide open, staff to help at bagdrop, starter, cartgirl Lauren, staff all friendly and available. Thank You Sea Oaks.
One of the few good ones in Ocean County
The greens roll true and quick.
The fairways were in great shape. The tee boxes had been recently aerated, but were decent.
Smart placement of tee shots will help scoring. Shoot for the flat landing areas and avoid the awkward lies in the rolling fairways.
Good course and friendly staff!
My friend Mike and I played Saturday at 1215 hrs. Golf pro Brad (Miller)? was very helpful and respectful. asking questions did not bother Brad at all. The Starter paired Mike and I up with two great guys. Tom and Lou. What a round of golf, greens were perfect and the fairways great. The fact that people whom did not repair their ball marks on the greens and divots on the fairways, shame on you! I would play on this course in any conditions. We did not eat while we were there. Great course!
Great Day
The course was in good shape - the pace of play was rather slow - two slow foursomes in front of us, and no ranger "helping them along".
Always enjoy the course - several scenic and challenging holes.
Much improved
The course that is, not me. It had been several years since we last played here but course conditions were greatly improved. Tees, fairways and greens were in great condition. There was no wait and no one pressing us on what was a gorgeous weather day for golf. Fee of $59.00 including cart seemed a bargain.
We had a very nice meal in the clubhouse after golf with reasonable prices and good food.
Fun and challenging
Sea Oaks is a very challenging course that is very well maintained. When compared to other courses in the area I give Sea Oaks one star above anything within 50 miles of Tuckerton. Excellent greens true and fast. Although some of the greens are in need of divot recovery. I would consider a membership if I lived near by.
Poor pace of play
The round took over 5 hours. No ranger on course. Every water jug was empty on a 90 degree day. Very disappointed. Groups were leaving due to slow play. Will never play there again. Fairways were average at best. For $90 being charged I expected better course conditions. If your going to spend that kind of money play somewhere in else.
Great Course
Course it 2 hrs away from home but love to play on my way down to A.C. traffic was terrible and arrived at course with 5 min to go. Dropped Bag off, parked car and checked in, they said the starter is waiting for you no paper work required. A few minutes later I was Teeing off. Course was in beautiful condition all around!
Fun course
We very much enjoyed our round and played in 3 1/2 hrs the course was in excellent condition considering winter play and a very friendly staff thoroughly enjoyable
Excellent Condition
The course condition was excellent even though it was the first day they open after last snow fall.
Nice course to play
Course is in good shape. I only wish my fellow golfer would fix the ball marks on the greens.
