Deltona Club
About
The Deltona Club holds the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Florida. The club has roots that date back to the late 1950s. It is a remake of one of the state's earliest planned communities. Bobby Weed redesigned the golf course, improving its aesthetic appeal and giving it more playability. The course sprawls across rolling hills that provide dramatic elevation changes throughout. It is a far cry from the many flat public courses that exist throughout Florida. The natural contours of the terrain helped determine the strategic placement of the numerous bunkers, many of which were added during Weed's renovation. The Deltona Club's parkland layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that even have the feel of a links course.

Have thick skin
The older woman working the counter was rude to everyone. She was late to open the club house and blamed everyone but her for being on time. Oils not warm up in time poor customer service. Will not go back for while.
It's ok but overpriced
The course is physically in decent shape, but there is ZERO signage on the course. No tee box markers, no next hole this way, so you kinda have to hope you're on the right hole. Also, the whole world of golf uses blue, white and red tees with gold or black for golfers too special for red, white or blue, but deltone uses 1,2,3,4,5....dont over think it folks. Red, white and blue tees with tee box markers please. Nothing works in the men's room either. $20 fixes and this course wouldn't be half bad, but as it stands, really more of a $15 round if gilf than a $45 round.
Fun Older Central Florida Course
Deltona CC is older than many I play in Central Fla, but a couple of things stand out: no water hazards & very hilly terrain. You have to hit extra club when going to greens perched uphill, and the greens are generally big. The mix of holes is good; I really like the par5s. There are a few blind shots, which could be tough for the 1st time players (w/o a guide). The Members (area residents) are really accommodating, and no reluctance to take on this Single GolfNow player. I'll be back to redeem my score from this particular day.
Where was the starter?
Don't play here on the weekends!
So we teed off on the new #1 (note: hideously bad idea to change the nines-this is a harder starting hole with a semi-blind 2nd shot causing long waits to clear greens) and it was slow. Waits on every tee.
We got to the new #10 (old #1)... and they were letting a bunch of twosomes start there? No regard for those of us making the turn. No starter in sight, either. Oh, and these folks were baaaaaad. We had a 30 minute wait to make the turn because of this. 5-hour round. Unacceptably bad course management. I do enjoy the course and the layout is fun but I won't be back soon on a weekend.
Slow Pace and No Etiquette.
The course was above average compared to a lot Central Florida golf courses. The greens were in good shape but played very slow. I played as a single so, I knew it would be slow unless you had nice golfers who a little golf etiquette and let me play through. I played behind a couple for 9-holes and on the back 9 they offered me to join up or play through. By this time I was waiting so long before I play that I stop keeping score and was practicing different swings. My round at the course took over 4 1/2 hours. This was the longest round of golf that I have had as a single. Overall nice course if you have the time.
New score cards are confusing. Should tell us it’s now north 9 and south 9. Scored 3 holes on wrong half of score card. Otherwise very good shape. Nice greens.
Only problem was they let some fakes sneak in in front of us at the turn. Should never happen.
Good Condition
I had read that they aerated the greens 2 weeks ago so I wasn’t expecting much, but the greens were in really good condition. They were rolling medium fast an true. I didn’t even see punch marks. I’m really glad to see the club putting money and effort into keeping the greens and fairways up to par, that’s what keeps golfers coming back. The only negative is they tend to overbook on the weekends and the starting time can get delayed and the pace slows down. Love the course layout and elevation change.
