Glen Abbey Golf Club
About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

WHAT A SHAME
I WISH I COULD HAVE GAVE IT A BETTER REVIEW THIS WAS M,Y COURSE I LEARNED HOW TO LOVE GOLF ON THE ORIGINAL OWNERNKEPT THIS COURSE IN GREAT SHAPE AFTER BEING TURNED OVER A FEW TIMES THEY REALLY HAVENT DONE ANY THING TO KEEP IT UP I PLAYED YESTERDAY IN HOPES I WOULD JOIN THE THURSDAY SENIOR LEAGUE ONCE AGAIN TO MY DISMAY I WONT DO IT REALLY BAD SHAPE IF YOU GO NANCY IS THERE WITH NICE GREETING
Tee boxes
The tee boxes were in terrible shape and the greens were rough.
Slow, bumpy greens
The greens were slow and bumpy with patches of sand. Tee boxes were also sandy, and fairways were in typical dry Florida winter condition. There was also a threesome in front of us: three 20-somethings, two carts, one bag of clubs (to be fair, only one person actually appeared to be playing golf) and one very loud boombox that could be heard from the green back to the tee box.
Value for dollar
Open course, very little water and hazards, friendly staff and no wait time.
Overall great golf course if the greens were in better shape. From the horror story reviews I’ve read online I would say course has come a long way. The dog legs are great for some hero shots.
Greens are unputtable. Weeds were growing in the greens profusely. Ball bounced in the air 1-3 inches instead of rolling. Either sell the course to someone who will take care of it or shut it down it’s a disgrace!
Greens were terrible, course design was cool. Not worth playing until the greens are fixed
Greens need help
I enjoy playing this course. Diane and Nancy inside the pro shop are great! Other than the greens, conditions are acceptable. Course has an interesting layout. Right now the greens are miserable. You can see that grass is trying to grow in spots but it creates a very bumpy experience on most putts. On some greens I just gave it a 2 putt maximum. Hopefully, as the weather warms, the greenskeeper can straighten this out. I know the greens can be better. I've seen it.
Horrible
Unplayable but a few shot, please don,t waste your money,, greens are not putable
Overall just bad
Only worth playing here if you need to swing the clubs and it is a day that not many are on the course. Terrible shape and pace of play is really really bad. Greens are in terrible shape as well.
Beginner Course
Glenn Abbey is a great course for new golfers or golfers on a budget. It’s very relaxed and stress free. Course is in decent shape. Tee boxes are bad but the fairways are okay along with the greens. Whenever I want a cheap practice round Glenn Abbey is a go to. I wouldn’t spend over $40 to play here.
Works on a pinch
Last second booking. Better than not playing golf but far from good. Recommended for beginner golfers since you won’t be pressured to hurry or worry about minor infractions.
Fairways were acceptable greens decent. Everything outside of that was pretty rough.
