Deltona Club
About
The Deltona Club holds the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Florida. The club has roots that date back to the late 1950s. It is a remake of one of the state's earliest planned communities. Bobby Weed redesigned the golf course, improving its aesthetic appeal and giving it more playability. The course sprawls across rolling hills that provide dramatic elevation changes throughout. It is a far cry from the many flat public courses that exist throughout Florida. The natural contours of the terrain helped determine the strategic placement of the numerous bunkers, many of which were added during Weed's renovation. The Deltona Club's parkland layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that even have the feel of a links course.

Greens are slow and bumpy
The last time we played they sanded the greens without telling us and now the greens are in pretty bad condition. If you’re looking for a hilly course in north of Orlando there aren’t many options so this course is nice... I just wish they could get everything in better condition.
A must play for the layout
The elevation changes, rolling fairways, challenging fairway bunkering and severely sloping greens make this a must play. The greens were smooth but were not very fast which took some of the bite out of the course. The elevation changes from tee to green and the numerous dogleg par 4s require being able to work the ball in both directions. The 5 sets of tees provides the opportunity to select the correct yardage to a score well and play fast if you accurately select your tees based on your skill level. The course does play long based on the elevation changes and be sure to pay attention to the depth of the greens, as they can require a 1 to 2 clubs difference based on the pin location. The bunkers are large and deep and do come into play off the tee.
A big thank you to the starter who let us go off the back 9 to start, allowing us to avoid the rain and finish in about 2:30.
The course condition could use some TLC: weeds, patchy rough and some bare spots are visible. But the layout and unique holes truly stand out from typical flat courses found throughout the central Florida area.
Sand - sand and sand! Most sand and some of the largest sand traps I have experienced. Lots of hills and uneven lies. It's about medium length although the par 3's on the North Course are definitely longer than 3's that I have experienced on other local courses. All in all it was an interesting course and seems to demand control of your shots more than length of your shots. The greens are better than the other local courses. I'll have to play it again and was warned to be aware of High School teams who have to walk and "Scrambles" in the afternoons.
Great layout
Ever since I moved to Florida this has been one of my favorite courses, the layout is just so much fun. It’s unlike other Florida courses that I’ve played, no water and plenty of elevation changes. From the tips this place can play long, but even from the other tees it offers a fun afternoon of risk vs reward. Staff is always delightful and when I went on Monday afternoon I didn’t have to wait on a single group. Course conditions are good enough for the most part, I had no issue with the tee boxes or fairways although patchy at times they are more than playable.
My only complaint with the course is the greens, they simply aren’t good. They’re incredibly soft and hairy and make it difficult to get any spin and pointless to bother reading any putts because it’ll never go the way you think. It’s a real shame because the greens have such potential with their undulations and slopes. The course asks you to plan your shots and think about the way you want go play only for it to not matter at all when you get to the green and inevitably two putt.
Despite the green condition I would play here every week if I could, the course layout is just too dang much fun to pass up. If you haven’t played I would highly recommend because for the price this place is a fun afternoon, better greens and it would be an absolute gem.
nice place
Since this was the first time to play this course, I could have used more information from the staff. We were just left to our own devices to find a cart (no starter) and figure out where to go to find the first tee. The course has a great layout and could be much more fun to play if it were in better shape. It needs water, water and more water and some weed control would be nice too.. The tee shots require some ability to work the ball which adds a level of skill if you are long off the tee. I suggest a good warmup at the range prior to play. I wish I had done that. The greens were quite firm (water again) and could have used cutting and rolling but they ran fairly true. The fee was inexpensive through golfnow using rewards and I would recommend it because of that. Paying rack rate would be inadvisable.
Good course
The course is in pretty good shape overall. There are a few spots here and there that could use a little attention but overall pretty good. Greens are in very good shape. They roll very nice and you can hold the green even from a distance.
Not cool
We had a 10:40 tee time didn't tee off till after 11 because they let a 5 some in front of us they won't let us play thru took over 5 hours. Not cool
Good Condition
The course is in really good shape overall. The greens are very nice and about medium speed. The fairways are really good with plenty of grass to hit off of. While most other courses in the area are dry, crunchy, and thin on grass, Deltona’s grass and greens are very healthy. The prices are decent for the afternoon. Lots of elevation change. Very interesting and challenging golf course.
nice course
First time playing this course.
course was in great condition, no water, but a lot of sand traps!
staff very friendly.
beautiful day to play golf, what's not to like!!
New Deltona vs Old Deltona
I've been playing Deltona regularly since 1980 with a 10 intermission from 2000-2010 when I lived out west. Much prefer the original layout, but it's still a pleasant challenge every time I tee it up here. Course was in good condition and will be even better when weather warms and fairways grow. Price for nine with wife was a little steep at 75% of 18 hole price.
Decent Shape
The course is in pretty good shape, the greens look good but are a little slow. If they cut and roll them I think they would be very good. The rest of the course is in decent shape for this time of year. Lots of elevation change. Lots and lots of sand, but no water. The course plays fairly long but fair. Fun course to play but still a challenge.
Very Nice
This course is super nice. There is no water but a ton of sand. Each hole is a unique challenge that will test you. The north 9 are probably my favorite. Most people who play are nice so if pace is slow, no one gets mad.
