Victoria Hills Golf Club
About
Victoria Hills Golf Club located in Deland has jaw-dropping beauty. Golfers will appreciate Roland Garl's vigorous bunkering, which oscillates between the expansive and the intricate, depending on the hole. An array of pot bunkers, waste bunkers, native wetlands, water sprays, bunkers integrated within a natural setting, and elevation changes rarely seen on a Florida golf course await you. Garl's course is graceful and feminine
Victoria Hills could easily be called "The State of Florida's Garden of Golf,"- inland settings such as this are virtually unprecedented in this state. Yet while the splendor and natural beauty of the property are notable, this is not simply eye candy and lazy golf. Victoria Hills, as one player put it, "is a blast to play". In any evaluation, it's difficult to imagine how a golfer would not rate a round here as one of their most enjoyable in Florida.

Enjoyable
Even though this course is an hour from my house I try to play it several times a year. It’s interesting layout …very challenging in places the greens normally are in good shape. Certainly worth checking out if you never been there.
Victoria Hills golf
The greens were in great shape. The fairways needed watering, and showed a few bare spots. The pin placements were extremely difficul.
Greens were in really good shape, but very tricky. Local knowledge certainly helps there.
Still a long way to go
The Greens are much better, suggest they roll them and cut them shorter to speed them up. Overall the fairways are thin and have a lot of bare spots, about 4 holes are bad. The areas around the greens need a lot of work, chipping with any kind of wedge is almost impossible given the holes, bare spots and thin lies. I keep trying this course every once in awhile because the layout is great but the overall course conditions do not get better. One strange thing is the same fairways have been roped off for months but they never did anything to fix them and they still look the same, strange?
Good Improvements
This course is a challenging layout, with rolling terrain, some elevation changes, and a lot of bunkers. The greens are excellent. There were a few tee boxes that still need some attention and some of the fairways were spotty in certain areas, but overall the course was in good shape
I can see it
Awesome layout. Keep hearing that it’s gotten better, but if that’s the case I’d hate to see what it looked like before this. If you miss the green at all you’re hitting off dirt. Fairways in and shape. Greens are good, I’ll give them that. Course is hard, but also hard for the wrong reasons. I’ll be back when I see more improved reviews.
On its way Back
Course is looking better. Fairways and tee boxes still need work. The layout is one of the best in Central Florida. Staff was friendly, greens in good shape. Only negative I have is I played at 12:40 in the afternoon, some holes had the sprinklers on, one hole the guy was watering the green and wouldn’t get off while i’m trying to hit it to the green. Why do this in the afternoon and not early morning?? Made no sense.
Returning to Glory
Long time resident of Victoria Hills who’s seen this course in both its prime and low point, I am happy to report things have been on the uptick for several months.
The staff is great, warm, friendly, and attentive a nicety in today’s world. The course layout continues to be great as it is unique with the rolling fairways and the natural beauty of the land and visible wildlife (turkeys, cranes and the occasional deer) as it works itself through the Victoria Hills neighborhood, The grounds team has been working hard to return the tee boxes and fairways to yesteryear, still some work to do in areas, but vastly improved over the past few months. The greens have largely returned to glory, although they are a bit on the slow side, so be sure to not leave it short!
If it’s been a hot minute since you last played the Vic, head back, you will glad you did.
Great Layout and Good Conditions
Love the layout…one of the best in Central Florida. Greens are a little slow but very well maintained (10/10). Fairways are in good condition (8/10) and bunkers are ok for Central Florida. Pace of play was average but most good courses will have slower play. Overall it’s a very good course for the rate charged. The only negative is the staff got “snarky” when they saw I booked the round on GolfNow. I showed up an hour and half early to check-in, hit some balls, and have lunch. They did not want to check me early and said it was because GolfNow players jump on the course ahead of their tee time. So I paid for a bucket of balls and went to the range. Started hitting balls and the starter came to the range and told me I couldn’t hit balls since I hadn’t checked in. By now I’m perturbed and chewed him out. From then on things got better.
Golf should be enjoyable—not stressful or confrontational.
I really wanted to like this course. We live five minutes away and were hoping this could be our local go-to spot. The round even started off promising thanks to the starter, who was one of the friendliest and most helpful starters I’ve met. That ended up being the only highlight.
Course conditions were far below what we expected for the price. Fairways were patchy and rough, bunkers looked unmaintained, and the cart paths were in such bad shape that it took away from the experience. The greens actually rolled surprisingly well, but that was the only positive in terms of conditions.
The real issue—and what ultimately ruined our day—was a very unsettling encounter with a golf shop employee. On a short downhill par 4, a ball landed within about 10 feet of one of the guys we had been paired with. There was no warning, no “fore,” and no indication anyone was hitting into us. Out of understandable frustration after almost getting hit, he tossed the ball back toward the fairway.
A few minutes later, a man in his late 20s or early 30s sped up behind us, said a quick “sorry for almost hitting you,” and immediately followed it by scolding us for tossing his ball. He then stated he was an employee, told us he was heading back to the shop, and threatened to end our round on the spot. He made bizarre comments about our playing partner’s “ego” and how far he hits the ball, then stormed off to confront the group we were paired with—nearly getting into an altercation with them.
My wife and I were stunned. The encounter was hostile, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. We finished the hole while he yelled from the cart path about “getting us kicked off the course.” Thankfully nothing came of it, but it absolutely ruined the round.
What made this even more concerning is that if he truly is an employee or even a strong enough golfer to drive the green from the tee, he absolutely should know proper golf etiquette. If you can reach a green with your tee shot, the responsibility is on you to wait until the group ahead is fully clear. Hitting into players—especially on a short par 4—and not yelling “fore” is dangerous and unacceptable at any course.
For a course already struggling with conditions, the last thing I’d expect is an employee actively chasing away customers. We genuinely wish this could be our neighborhood course, but we won’t return as long as this kind of behavior is tolerated. Golf should be enjoyable—not stressful or confrontational.

👍Constant Improvements
Every time I play here I notice something else staff has taken the time to make improvements to; good job guys👍
Massive Improvement
Adding Victoria Hills back to the rotation after seeing such a turnaround from where it was last year. Greens look great, fairways are solid, minus some thin spots on a couple of holes, and tee boxes are decent.
Best layout in CFL in my opinion and conditions are soon to follow!
Fun unusual FL course.
Unusual in that it was quite hilly. This was a really fun track. We were stuck behind a very slow group who was also stuck behind a fivesome which should not happen. But we got past them on the back nine and moved great. Greens recently punched but they still rolled good. My biggest complaint is the amount of grass in the fairways. A bit sparse. But still not awful. Actually typical for Florida. But very enjoyable day.
Course as good as layout
Victoria Hills has made a positive turnaround from six months ago. Nice greens & much improved fairways. I will definitely put this on my list of courses to play.
Improving!
My favorite course is getting better everyday. This course has always been my favorite layout.
