DeBary Golf & Country Club
About
DeBary Golf & Country Club, a Lloyd Clifton-designed course sits on hilly land. The layout is fascinating. No two holes feel similar. Only two holes have water, but there is significant sand. Dense woods of pine and evergreen border the fairways. The rolling fairways and natural layout give the golf course a Carolinas feel. The par 5s are all in the 500- to 550-yard range. The par 3s are all approximately the same distance, running 180 to 190 yards from the back tees, and 150 to 160 yards from the white tees. DeBary is one of the few Clifton golf courses that do not top out at more than 7,000 yards.

Fallen tree while we were on green. Photo submitted by tbusfbulls10 on 04/21/2013
Greens fast, other than that I have nothing to say.
Slow pace
Pace of play super slow had a sixsome on the course.
We played on a Sunday afternoon and the price was reasonable for this time of year. They were busy and we had to wait some but it wasn’t terrible. We played in about four hours and 20 minutes. The course had some damage from the frost, so the fairway were brown, and the grains and tees lost some of their greenness, but the grains were quick and true. I thought the fairways had tight lies, but that could’ve been just from the frost.
The layout was nice and enjoyable. Lots of small sand traps with high lips so that was a challenge, but the sand was nice and soft.
I would play here again
Horrible Shape
This course should be ashamed of itself! No grass on the fairways to speak of. Basically all sand and mud. The only thing missing were the goats!
Tough shape
Course has seen better days. Greens are in good shape but the rest of the course does not match up. Tee boxes and fairways are chewed up. Hard to find grass to hit off in the fairways. I would stay away until conditions improve
Just like the Sahara Desert
The recent 4 and 5 star reviews must have come from someone related to the owner. This course is in terrible shape. The fairways look like the Sahara and the greens have large dead spots. Tough to find any positives here.
Warm Staff Helped on a Cold Day
I took the long drive to BCC knowing that it was going to be a brutally cold day but I really enjoy the course. The warm reception from the gentleman at the front desk started my day off well and because of the weather I was able to get out early. Don't really understand some of the negative reviews as I found the course very playable and enjoyable. The only negative I can offer is the amount of fairways that were roped off which forced a semi walking day. With my physical handicap that made for a bit of a tiring day but I understand that they are probably trying to help the fairways grow more grass and rebound to pristine shape. When out on them it really didn't feel like they were in need of all that roping as it had been many days without rain and dry enough to let the carts at least drive in the rough. All in all another fine day and I look forward to my return in a few months.
NSB trio
Fun and challenging course whose conditions are improving.
Pace of play was ATROCIOUS
I come here often to play this course. It’s probably one of my favorite courses to play in the area. I usually have nothing but good things to say about this place it today I was really disappointed in my experience. As the title says, pace of play was atrocious. We paid for 18 holes but it took us 2 hours and 37 minutes to play the front 9. We finished 9 and it was dark. There were times that there were 5 groups on a single hole. We literally had to wait over 5 minutes in between shots. Really disappointing hope they are able to figure out how to fix this issue quickly
Don’t play here
Tee boxes the worst I’ve seen. Fairways lots of dirt. No one enforcing pace of play. Overpriced for what you get.
Just Awful
Greens were the only thing that was ok. This course is awful. If you see reviews that says otherwise they are either members or paid reviews. Tee boxes are non existent, fairways barely any grass, sand and dirt everywhere. Pro Shop lets members do what they want. Was a terrible experience. Wouldn’t play here again if it was free. DeBary used to be a real good course now it’s not. They have membership. Where is the money from that to put in the course. Looks like it hasn’t been watered in years.
Course condition
Looks like they are trying to return to where it used to be.. Doing a lot of repairs so that's good to see. Always loved the course but went downhill the last few years, glad to see the they are working to improve
