Rhuddlan Golf Club

About
Rhuddland Golf Club was established in 1930 within the grounds of Bodrhyddan Estate, home of Lord Langford the Club President. In 1938 it became affiliated to the Welsh Golfing Union. The original layout has been dramatically modified by Hawtree & Co over the years and is now a very popular championship course. A popular venue for visitors, Rhuddland has also played host to National, Regional and County events.
Gently undulating parkland course with splendid views of the Clwydian Hills and the Vale of Clwyd with Snowdonia beyond. The original course built on farmland on the Bodrhyddan Estate dates from 1930. Hawtree & Co. modified in the course in 1962 and again in 1985.
The course was extended and developed into that challenging and attractive course we now enjoy. Hawtree used the natural topography cleverly, creating five completely new holes, 8 to 12, on the new land. Six other new holes were created by extending, moving and introducing space within a previously cramped layout. Over 5,000 trees were planted; many of the copses now supplementing the older parkland trees as well established features of the course.

Disappointingly poor
Paid GN £105 for a 3 ball at 3:10pm and when we arrived at the course there was no record of our booking, I rang GN for a refund and was told by customer services that they would have to ring the Golf club to authorise the refund, the assistant pro at the club refused so our only option to avoid paying all this money for nothing was to play later using trollies in 31 degree heat as there were no buggy’s, we managed 10 holes before we had to stop due to the onset of heat exhaustion.
Completely unacceptable.
Lovely course with welcoming staff and members
2nd time playing here as a visitor, love the course, some really interesting holes without being too punishing the more modest golfers such as myself.
Super friendly from pro shop to bar team to members.
Highly recommend
Brilliant corse at a brilliant price
Greeted by a friendly chap in the shop. Course was brilliant. I am a slow player as I am just beginning
Great course
Great course in very good condition for this time of year would recommend a visit
Great course
Smashing course great layout and in good condition. Only thing was if your using a gps watch it doesn’t pick up the correct holes due to course layout being altered
Lovely course and people
I really enjoyed this course, it was in good condition, greens held approach shots but were still a nice pace. Every hole offered something new. I would play again without hesitation. The only issue and it’s not the fault of the course or the staff was that golf now don’t consult with the course about available tee times.. so me and another couple of golfers who turned up where double booked with members. The pro was great and sorted it out. It meant I teed off only 10 mins later that the time I booked on golf now.
Leaves
Haven’t rated this course highly due to the amount of leaves lying on all parts of course Spent five hours looking for balls in middle of fairways and loosing plenty as every part of course was covered with fallen leaves every member I spoke to had same complaint adding they were sick off it Parts of course were tight 3 greens 3 tees within fifty yards would have to say not my favorite course but without all the leaves may be different
Golf

Great greens
Some great holes
Was open when lots of other courses closed

Definitely a great option to play
Very friendly, great practice facility, clubhouse friendly, course in great condition, not an easy course but one you can miss the fairway without being In too much trouble.
Had a great day when we visited, highly recommend, will definitely return
On Recommendation
Having a break in Wales, a mate suggested we try this course. He said that it was a fair course for all golfers. So we tried and found this course to really well laid out, very scenic and friendly staff. The Pro in the shop which is being upgraded was most helpful. It was perhaps the hottest day of the year and that was an extra bonus. Round was reasonably fast. The course was not so busy.
Well worth a trip for all. My wife enjoyed this course so it also fair for the Ladies. Thank you Steve for your suggestion,
