Wild Turkey Golf Club
About
Wild Turkey Golf Club is one of New Jersey's top public courses. It is part of the Crystal Springs Resort, which offers six other courses including the popular Ballyowen and Crystal Springs golf courses. Wild Turkey combines characteristics from both. The layout has a unique design inspired by the interesting topography, which is most aptly described as "basin and ridge." The "basin" of the course is a wide-open expanse that offers plenty of room while the holes that play along the "ridge" of the golf course tumble across a variety of elevation changes. Due to the dramatic undulations of the terrain, it's a tough golf course to walk. Wild Turkey Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 seventh. This tricky hole calls for a demanding carry over a quarry lake in order to reach the well protected green.

Not worth a 100 mile drive play Crystal or Ballyowen over this one
I'm going to be as fair as possible about this review since most courses in the area have been aerated in the past month I'll give them a pass but the greens were very inconsistent in speed but rolled fairly true. I've never been to any Staten Island course but this reviewer right before mine must play bad courses regularly or Wild Turkey must only maintain the bunkers for weekend play. It rained about a week ago and to me it seemed like they haven't raked the bunkers since that time so don't know what this guy is talking about. I got a deal so it's the main reason I still give it 4 stars. However, there is no way I'd pay the regular asking rate for any course that does not rake their bunkers daily. They should be maintained like a PGA tournament course for over 100 asking rate. Plus most have too little sand making them quite firm. You will need to adjust and hit closer to the ball or use a wedge with less bounce. I wasn't in many thankfully but did take note of the condition and it was the same on every hole. The course is pretty open therefore the defense is the wind (it was calm today) and the green side bunkers so why wouldn't you maintain them daily? If I had paid full rate I'd have been really disappointed. With all that said the views are phenomenal. The layout is decent and fair for all skill levels. The staff is super friendly and it was an enjoyable day overall at the discounted rate I paid. The course is open and rough wasn't too high so if you're a single digit handicap you should definitely play the blue tees (or back if you dare). If I had played the whites it would have been way too short. The food and drink are good in the clubhouse though rather pricey but what you'd expect from a course that caters to a more affluent crowd. If I take the ride up there again I'd definitely choose Ballyowen or Crystal. Crystal is a very unique course and unlike any other in the state though it's super challenging if you're not a decent golfer.
A must play
I love this course. It's always in great shape. It has many memorable holes.I was able to get a great deal with golf nows"Hot deals",which made it even better.
Good round
Nice course on a beautiful piece of property. Probably wouldn't pay full price but that is because I am cheap. The facilities, lodge, etc were awesome. The course was in good shape but the greens were only "ok". A bit beat up but still better than a county course.
okay course
I was somewhat disappointed. A few holes
were fun but the course is nothing special.
I would not pay more then $70.00
Aerating Greens
We booked our tee time on Golfnow.com with what we thought was a great deal. However, there was no indication that the greens had been recently aerated. There are several courses at Crystal Springs Resorts and we would have chosen another course to play. There was no signage or anything from the GolfNow website indicating this. We were disappointed since we enjoy traveling 2 hours one way. We woke up at 4am to drive 2 hours for a 6:40am tee time. I hope in the future they warn golfers of this, we may not be back anytime soon.
Aeration issues
Overall course was in excellent condition, pace of play was great just over 4 hours.
Course should have something on web site letting people know that greens had been aerated
This is a great course and I will play again but not at that price with aerated greens
Greens conditions
Greens were under repair.
When i booked wild turkey there was not notificatipn of green aeration on golfnow.com
Would have played elsewhere knowing greens were not up to par....no pun intended..
Nothing special
The greens had been aerated the previous day. This was not noted during the booking process nor check-in process. Only when we met the started were we told - unsatisfactory.
Nice views, OK pace of play, pleasant course, not particularly challenging. Overpriced.
The course is gorgous
Wild turkey is a perfect setting for any golf fanatic the views are tremendous. A great course including. An assortment of challenging par 3s. And. Gorgous landscape. I happened to play a twilight round and. The sunset. On the last few holes. We're simply an amazing setting. So if you have never been to wild turkey at crystal springs. Your depriving yourself. A must play for any golfer
While turkey heater
Played wild turkey July 20. 94° in the heat middle of the day course was in excellent condition staff was friendly. Refreshment cart came around enough. Saw some bears on the 15th. Refreshman car parking brake failed had to jump in and save the damsel in distress. We had a great day.
Wild about Wild Turkey!
I love this course! It's in great shape and is a lot of fun to play!
good greens
the course is very nice except bunkers were not edged like a high priced course. they had large crew working. you would think they would reduce price when things are not perfect. my tee time was noon and the course did not have much play.
Great course
Beautiful setting and great facilities. I highly recommend this course for serious golfers. I especially like the challenge of the water holes.
Nice Course
Paired up with 2 other guys, what a great day of golf. The weather couldn't have been any better. The course was in great shape. Will go back soon.
Wish I wasn't so tired to play from the 20 range balls..
Well I got to the course and was told that an outing was going on.. would've been nice to know earlier when I booked it. Luckily didn't get stuck behind the groups until four holes to go (which took forever). The greens could've rolled much faster and it would've been nice to get more than the whopping 20 range balls...
I love this course, and it is an absolute must play for sure. Although it gets very pricey, the only time I will play is if I can find a great deal..
Worth playing
Course wide open, Greens very very slow, Traps need work, sand needs to be replaced, many stones in traps, pace of play 4 1/4 hours, staff friendly, cart extremely slow
Great day, but pace was painfully slow
When we arrived they warned about a delay due to computer conversion which resulted in double booked tee times. The 20 minute delay turned into an hour. We were aware of the aeration, but wanted to play the course which outside of greens was in excellent shape. I will be back when the greens take.
This course is well maintained for this time of year.
Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. However, as we were forewarned the greens were recently aerated and sand dressed. This became more and more annoying. Judging distance and speed were impossible. Otherwise, a great day out and we plan on returning when the greens are healed.
Cold weather round
nice course even on the cold winter.
can't ask more on this.
