Cheap and cheerful

Nice course which even though it was battered by 2 days of rain seemed in really good condition.

Quite an open course with plenty of holes seemingly running in to each other.

As a visitor for the 1st time here it would of been useful to have had the course map on the scorecard and on some of the tees there were missing maps/yardage etc.

Overall a pleasant course although not overly challenging and maybe missing a signature hole or bit of variety.

Llanwern GC

Friendly helpful staff in pro shop. Backed up with friendly members, chatty and helpful. Course layout was great and course in good condition. Only criticism is of the tee boxes. Bare, dry and in poor condition.

Greens fantastic and fast.

Will definitely be back.

Psychedelic greens.

Tee boxes need looking after more, felt like I was playing from a dirt box. Not too tricky apart from the greens that were in the main tough to read. Course had long par 4s and short par 3s. Some pylons run through the course and the main line London Cardiff train so it can get noisy.

Overall it was good, quirky in parts. One par three saw me make a lovely shot only to find it had rolled 50 yards off the green into a ‘bowl’. 3 putting a grave danger here.

llanwern via golf now,

this was my 3rd trip to llanwern, this one booked at short notice via golf now and they gave instant confirmation

the course was quiet so we tee,d off on arrival, the course is in great condition and only 2 or 3 tee,s were damp / muddy, despite some recent heavy rain.

many of the holes have a sloping fairway and theres a good mix of challenge levels, i,m a high handicapper and only lost 2 balls. so not a difficult course for a good player

Good Parklands course, let down by tee boxes

Played early in the morning, and behind some players who were quite quick. Nice parkland course, although part of it borders the London-Cardiff main train-line, so it can be a bit noisy down there, and also has electric pylons running through it. However, was fairly challenging, long par 4's and greens that were very tricky to judge, so whilst a hole may look straight forward (par 4, downhill, straight), once you got onto the greens, you had to take a lot of care reading them.

Tee boxes were pretty awful though, just mud mostly, so that let it down for me.

However, if they sorted that out, due tot he greens alone, it's a challenging course.

Llanwern

I’m never one to knock any organisation but I was very disappointed with the course when visiting recently. I remembered this course as being of a very high standard but when I visited yesterday the tee areas were very poor. Uneven underfoot and the lack of grass on the tees was quite unbelievable. It felt as though I was playing golf on a cheap public course. It will be a while before I visit again.

Very dissatisfied.

Golf with friends

Unfortunately we had to walk off the course after the 5th hole, the rain was torrential and course became unplayable, bit disappointed that club didnt offer us a voucher to come to play again.

Lovely track - hidden gem

Had a lovely afternoon playing this good old fashioned parkland course with a really nice club house and facilities. Close to Celtic manor and easy to get to. Really enjoyed the quality of the fairways and greens and the layout is very interesting.
