2010 course , 8 years after ryder cup
BE WARNED
i'm a walker usually BUT you need buggies here as the green to next tee distances are often big, and as vast majority of golfers justifiably take buggies, if you walk you will constantly be having to let groups through
Now the important issue is that the policy of CM is that YOU MAY NEVER LEAVE THE CART PATH WITH A BUGGY . so most times you have as far to get to your ball as your shot is to the green , you cannot see your distance to green ,obstacles , need to go high or low etc etc and will often have the wrong club with you when you get to the ball (at ones stage I just took whole bag off the cart and went to my ball a few times .
its incredibly annoying , CM staff say its the greenkeeper's demand to protect the course , well that's rubbish , I have played courses like Gleneagles, London Club and the Grove that are in far better condition than CM2010 and have no such silly restrictions.
Due to this , I would warn against paying up for Celtic Manor , it spoils the experience completely , pity as it's a terrific golf course layout
Everything was perfect, from the course to the weather, the only downside being that as 3 of us had booked a tee time, the staff at Celtic manor decided to allow a bloke who had clearly never played golf before to make up a 4 ball, the waiting around and continuous drops he made meant that it put a slight dampener on the day
