Dunedin Golf Club
About
Dunedin Golf Club was carved out of citrus groves and was the PGA National Golf Course until 1962. The golf course itself is delightful. From elevation changes to a river that bisects the course, you can just feel the aura of the great golfers who have played here. Bobby Jones, Gene Saraze, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Paul Runyan to name a few have participated in tournaments here. Dunedin Country Club is located in Dunedin, minutes from the beaches, many restaurants and several top hotel options. Dunedin Golf Club is a Donald Ross creation.

Historic golf course
Love this golf course. Donald Ross design lots of history play it every year in February.
Always a good test
Course conditions had improved from several weeks ago. Carts were allowed on fairways.Greens were challenging, but fair. Always like playing here
What happened to Dunedin Country Club
Course in terrible shape. Gashes in greens. Some fairways you had to look for a non hard pan or sand lie. I treated three friends that complained and called it a goat ranch
Overpriced for the conditions
I have played here many times. Today the course was in deplorable condition.
I understand that this time of year the grass can be spotty but today it was almost nonexistent. The sand traps appeared to be totally unkept. Much of it was due to golfers not raking after themselves but it didn’t look like any recent maintenance had been done. The greens were in okay condition but again a little care taken by golfers would go a long way. The pace of play was painfully slow. I do not understand why there is no ranger of the course, especially early in the morning because once it starts to back up all pace of play is gone. I observed one group playing from tee boxes way beyond their abilities, spending too much time looking for lost balls and hitting extra shots as we waited behind them. I paid a higher price than I should have but that was my choice. I don’t think $70 is reasonable especially given the poor condition of the course.
No grass on the fairways so beware
If you play your best game hitting off of green mud, then this is the course for you. Fairway grass is sparse making very tight lies.
It has seen better days.
A Decent GolfCourse
The course is on a large tract of land. Lots of sand traps. Only 2 memorable holes. The carts have range finders whic is very helpful. We will give it another try.
Worth the Extra $25
Teed off at Dunedin at 1140a. Course appeared to be busy, but my foursome got our round complete in 4h 15m. Course conditions were only fair tees to greens but the greens were in pretty good shape and rolled true. Tee boxes were particularly rough.
From tee to green most holes are pretty wide open and forgiving for the spray hitter. There are two or three forced carries. Greens are on the small side with many false fronts and lots of slope. The greens complexes are the course's primary line of defense.
The bag guy and the pro shop staff were courteous and helpful. The starter not so much.
Bottom line, I'm looking forward to playing Dunedin again.
AWFUL, stay far away
In 25 years of doing this, I have never lost a ball at a course in worse condition than this place! Tee boxes were beat, the amount of grass on the fairways was scarce at best (many shots off dirt or ground under repair) and greens had many bare spots. Only thing up to par were bunkers (if other players raked them). Pace of play was atrocious and never once saw a marshall/ranger. Skipped ahead just to avoid the backlog. Amount charged to play this dump was ridiculous for the product—paid over $200 to play a championship course in the area the day before and would do so again and again before I ever set foot on this disgrace to it’s designer course (Donald Ross tract). If you’re looking for a good course, stay as far away from this place as you can!
Lackluster course conditions aren't worth the money
Decent course
Nice course. Enjoyed playing. Course in very good condition, even though rained all day the previous day. Would highly recommend.
