About
Dunedin Golf Club was carved out of citrus groves and was the PGA National Golf Course until 1962. The golf course itself is delightful. From elevation changes to a river that bisects the course, you can just feel the aura of the great golfers who have played here. Bobby Jones, Gene Saraze, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Paul Runyan to name a few have participated in tournaments here. Dunedin Country Club is located in Dunedin, minutes from the beaches, many restaurants and several top hotel options. Dunedin Golf Club is a Donald Ross creation.

Nice layout, needs updating
Great Donald Ross layout. Greens are in good shape, well designed and protected by oversized bunkers. Trees along the fairways have aged and are overgrown. Approaches from the edge of some of the fairways can be blocked by overhanging branches. Also the large trees kill the grass, and several shots must be played off dirt/sandy lies. Take out some trees, or at least trim them, and they’d be back to Ross’s concept. I’d play it again.
It’s a challenge!
All in all we thought it was a nice course. Challenging par 3’s for women. Sand traps are tough and greens slow. Fairways are pretty wide.
Played it through the GolfNow app. New golf carts which were really nice. On a week day we played a 4some. in 3 1/2 hours played on weekend almost 5. They really need a ranger. The cart Gal was around frequently !
We will return.
Pace of play
Pace of play was horrible played front nine in 2.5 hours. Course condition was not great.
Beautiful layout… However
Beautiful layout… HoweverCondition of course very poor. Almost impossible to hit a wedge or Threewood off the fairway ground like asphalt.
Late tee time but finished.
We were able to start a little early which able us to finish at Dark ( about 4.5 hours play time). Greens are okay. Some fairways were muddy in spots.
Awesome layout.
I’ve played a lot of golf in Tampa & this was the first time I’ve played this course. Great layout. Loved it.
Good and bad
Course itself was very nice. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes in very good shape. Driving rage next to 18th hole is very questionable location for that as there were balls scattered all over the 18th hole fairway which makes it tough to find your own ball. Does not really diminish quality of the course though. Only complaint I have is pace of play. I went on a Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm and the course was PACKED. I went alone and was forced to start on hole one with an older twosome. They were very nice, but they played VERY slow. We had to wait for group on front of us the WHOLE time. I broke away from the group I started with after the front nine and played alone on back nine but still took forever as I had to wait for group in front of me who was also waiting on group in front of them. For just myself to play it took 3 hour and 45 minutes. Took forever but it was still a good time.
