Nice hilly course for Florida.
Fairways are often rough, and most greens are good condition.
Fun course, fairways and tee boxes could use a little more love but overall not too bad. Greens have improved tremendously
Improving
Course is improving after being in tough shape for a few years. Always a fun play when it is in decent shape.
Good layout
A different kind of golf course with a lot of elevation changes, reminds me of courses in the north east. A lot of dog leg lefts and hardly any water to speak of and seemed to be cut regularly. Nice big greens with very subtle breaks which make them a challenge to read but with plugs of crabgrass sprinkled around. The only other bad points would have to be the patchy tee boxes and the bone jarring cart paths and fairways but the carts with headlights was a first.
It’s getting better
Course is getting better, putting surfaces are coming back nicely, some Tee boxes need work. But course overall is improving every time I play it. One bad not was a new bartender in the clubhouse, more concerned about damaging her nails then on service, has no service experience and is painful slow, I know she is young and pretty, but at the turn you want to get in and out and back on the course. The other bartender they have (not there this day)is on it, years of experience and a professional.
In much better shape
I have played this course often, and it has improved drastically over the past couple of months. Fairways and greens are getting better.
Great fun challenging course
My favorite course in the area.... beautiful fun layout.... lots of wildlife to see... bald eagles, monkey faced squirrels...groups to play with... scramble grames.... league play.... good food and drinks in the bar....exceptionally friendly staff....
A Great Course Ruined
I have been playing this course since I was 15 years old. It is truly one of the great layouts in the area. I remember playing junior tournaments here, the course was great. Since the current owners have taken over they have run this place, as well as their sister course Silver Springs Shores (best layout in Marion Co.), into the ground. The greens are cut at different levels and terrible, the fairways are nothing more than large patches of dirt. Quite sad, a great golf course, no longer...thanks to the owners, who clearly take no pride in their establishment.
Nice layout, but course was in poor condition
Every year when we are in the area we play this course. The layout is very nice; somewhat hilly in a mixed forest. It is never busy and the pace of play was fine (3 hrs) and we sometimes played a second ball.
Unfortunately the condition of the course has deteriorated. The greens are OK, but the tee boxes and fairways are very bumpy and uneven.
#1 Hole
Once you get past the opening hole the rest of the course is enjoyable but challenging.
Citrus Springs Country Club
The course is in poor shape, bumpy fairways , tee boxes in rough shape
(uneven, depression) patchy greens
Only 3 holes worth using a wood on
Play this entire course with irons. It plays tight. Fairways, first cut, sand traps and rough are all below average. The greens rolled surprisingly well though. Wouldn't pay more than the $10 I paid, but wouldn't play again.
great layout
loved the layout...the greens were fine.....the staff is great.....i will be back.....
Great Course, excellent value
The staff here is top notch! the pace of play amazing. great value. best kept secret in the area. greens like carpet and well manicured. a few challenging holes, and if you play from the blue, bring your game! cant recommend this course enough!
About Citrus Springs
Greens First nine need some maintenance and all fairways too.
Greens second nine OK
Staff is very friendly.
We will be back soon
course
course is moderately challenging. Greens were being fertilized and had green dye
A little tired
Good layout with lots of opportunities for risk/reward play. Many dog-legs and a few hidden pins. Fairways were not in good shape but the greens were developing new grass nicely. Good course to improve game as there is elevation and requirement to play strategically.
Pleasant Day
This course has the greens in good shape but the fairways were pretty skimpy on grass, lots of bare spots leaving you hitting off of sand.
I will play the course again because it was a fairly good value.
