A little raggedy, but excellent greens
Tight, attractive layout. Lots of doglegs bending both ways. Fairways, rough and tee boxes were okay, but not great. Good in some places, but pretty raggedy in others. Greens were uniformly good - smooth and pretty quick. Good bit of hilly terrain for a FL course. Not at the top of my list, but will play again.
Citrus Springs Golf Course
Challenging golf course layout with many doglegs & elevation changes. I find this course one of my favorite in the central Florida area. Some of the greens are in the process of being repaired, but the overall golf experience is very good. Staff is very friendly, & the 19th hole has reasonably priced beverages. I highly recommend this course.
Good value for the money.
Greens for the most part were in good shape. I thought that the fairways were a little furry though. I really like the layout for the most part, you need to be accurate with your drives but they don't necessitate that you be real long from the white tees. I will play it again when I get back into town.
CITRUS SPRINGS
Lot of dog legs, elevated greens, fairways were dry as a bone, they don't have a full course watering system, greens were in OK condition. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would not recommend this course until the fairways has received a good amount of saturated rain for at least a week or longer. This part of Florida has been experiencing a major dry spell.
Had a great time
Got paired up with a couple from England had a great time talking about the difference between USA and England
good value, enjoyable layout
this course is challenging, but fair and not too punitive if you are not hitting it straight... There is no water in play. . It is in overall good shape, the greens were good but slower than the other couple of times I have played here. There are only a few par 4's that take driver out of your hands if you can't shape the ball.
Not bad
The course is in decent shape. The greens are a little rough but very playable. its a good challenge. Lots of hills and doglegs. I will play again.
We had a blast!
Great day of golf with my daughter! The course was in very good shape. The green speed was very fair.
Great even when wet!
We had to stop 3 times for thunderstorms, but at least it didn't feel like it was 110 degrees outside! The course plays long for ladies at over 5300 yds, and there are numerous elevation changes that require you to make a long carry. There are no water holes on the course...normally...but with the monsoons we have had, I had to dig my ball retriever out when I landed in a greenside bunker, lol. The greens were beautiful, but I was told they were scheduled to aerate the following day. It rained even harder the following day, so I don't know if they aerated or not. There were tall weeds on a few of the greens around the edges and the rough was a bit high, but we had heavy rain ALL day for a week, so I imagine they couldn't get out to maintain. No pinseekers, but they have the red, white and blue flags.
Fun Course!
Citrus Springs is a fun course to play. There are rolling hills with lots of elevation changes. The greens were in pretty good condition but definitely needed to be aerified. The fairways are not bad...many were very good while others need attention. The employees are very nice and accommodating. Overall, it is an excellent value for the money!
Da' Greens
The overall course condition was good.
The greens near the cups were of concern. On a number of holes putts true to the cup would turn 6 inches or less from the hole. If you tried to putt thru the break and miss the hole you were left with a come backer of at least 6 feet. I have played a number of quality courses including ones in the TPC network and have not experienced this break on so many holes. Course was aware of the situation. I did play for $10 plus tax, prepay so you cannot beat this for 18 holes.
A course with Relief!
The first thing I noticed was the topography- more Northern than Florida- a great change. Most fairways were on the mend anf thickening up and well groomed. The Tee boxes were in pretty good shape as well as most greens, however some greens had bare spots. The greens were otherwise thick and well groomed, also very challenging to read due to the subtle undulations. Looked like a lot of work going on to return this course to Great condition. Definitely a do again.
Newcomer
Always looking for something different and found it. More of the elevation changes I like. Not real long but nice for average player. Greens and tees well taken care of. With fairway and trap work would be 4 star.
Alittle more fairway grass would go a long way.
The course is challenging but the grass on the fairways was thin. The greens were surprisingly good.
Interesting course with hills, not the usual in Fl.
Pleasant friendly welcome, sensible price. Course is in good condition with some hills and dips which makes a change in the area. Fairways quite narrow but straight shots make playing in regulation practical.
Citrus Spings
My twosome teed of at 7:30 was the first group off. When we got to the 16th tee at 9:45 we were in the middle of a shotgun start outing. I wish we would have been told they were having an outing. The last three holes took an hour to play. Other than that it was a fun and pretty course.
Course is very scenic with all the elevation
Course needed some work on the fairways, the greens were bigger than most courses the doglegs made the course enjoyable to play but well worth playing.
Be accurate on approach shots
Very established course set in a small area. This creates many teebox to green proximity challanges. Meny times the group infront of us left their cart and went to the next tee box and we wernt sure to hit into the green till they left. Greens firm and fast.
Hilly Terrian
Loved the layout. Elevated tee, doglegs left & right. Very nice. The greens were in nice condition. The fairways were dry and hard, which seems to be common to the area. Only one water hazard, which does not come in play on #18, a long uphill par5.
The ladies thought it was a little long.
