Great course in great condition

Fairways are burnt to a cinder but expected in this drought and makes it a much more of a links course anyway. Most importantly the greens were great and true. Would definitely recommend and will play again

Bad etiquette from members

Disappointingly poor etiquette from club members engaged in a 4 ball Texas Scramble competition. Last group out were in front of a two ball but decided to stop at halfway house and have tea and cakes. Two ball carried on so we're infront of them from 10th. Another 4 ball in front of the 2 ball were slow, so 2 ball had no difficulty keeping up, in fact had to keep waiting. On 14th, as 2 ball preparing to tee off the 4 ball on 13th asked to come through (they hadn't finished the 13th !), because they were the last group in the competition and so everyone was waiting for their scores, although they hadn't cared a fig about that while they stopped at the halfway house for tea and cake! Reluctantly the visiting 2 ball let them through only to wait behind them on every remaining hole. Such poor etiquette from the mixed 4 ball in the Texas Scramble! Such poor courtesy to visitors too. I didn't detect any Welsh accent, so probably holiday home owners nearby, so should I be surprised at the poor behaviour!!

Extremely enjoyable day

Have played here a few years ago so second visit. Any golf during winter is a good thing right? Course condition a little above average. Some of the matts went great and some tees off a patch of rough…..but I cat moan about that as it’s ‘winter’ golf! Some of the scenery is just beautiful! My game having not really swung a club in 7 weeks was a little scetchy but scabbed the first few holes and stayed at level par. Bogies one and birdied one on front 9 put me level after 9. Birdied I think 14th bogied 15 and stood on 18 level par…….to which I double bogied last for a 73. I would have been happy with an 80 (am 5.2 handicap) having been level after 17 I was gutted with that 6 on the last but that’s golf right? Great value for money and fantastic hospitality!

Overall a good track

Front 9 definitely not in the best shape it could be, I understand that the course gets a lot of visitor footfall but there were divots all over the fairways on the front 9. Back 9 is in great condition, this is the better side of the course along the beach and the holes were much more interesting. Overall it was good and worth a round. I feel £50 is a little much for the quality of the course but I still enjoyed and would recommend.

Porthmadog Golf Course

An unusual golf course with two very contrasting 9’s. Parkland front nine then cross the road to an amazing mix of links holes. Not that long but very enjoyable. Back nine better condition than front nine in my opinion not that it wasn’t good but back nine shaved if for me.

Scorched

Absolutely unplayable. Not a green blade of grass is sight aside from a few tee boxes and the odd green. No apology, nothing. At £60 per round you would expect a sprinkler here and there. Bouncing 50 ft in the air off fairways and greens so bubbly impossible to judge.

A Course of Two Halves

Front nine parkland nice but not my thing. Back nine stunning links. Pro and bar staff very friendly and food was excellent. Very wet after a lot of rain, bunkers full of water but nothing you can do about that. Stand in 12 the tee and tell me you haven’t made the right decision to come here to play…I challenge you!

Great Course

Played here twice now and really enjoy the course. The fairways were extremely scorched with the recent heatwave, but this didn't bother us and it can't be helped. You'll never have a flat lie but that's what links golf is all about. Lots of blind shots and perhaps suits the longer hitters best to keep out of trouble, especially on the holes along the coast. Really good value with a 2 fore 1 voucher.
