Powerscourt West
Having just played Powerscourt West, I can honestly say that the East course is better (has more variety) hole wise.
It's a very picturesque course with some fantastic views of the Mountains (behind the 8th tee especially).
I was told before I played, it was a very long course (nonence). Best advice is GO PLAY IT. Form your own opinion.
Right let's go... some very average holes on the West (like the East). Long they day!? Mist of the par 4's play less than 400 yards. But tricky.
3rd hole very average, like the 5th 8th 11th very short par 3 141 yards. 12th isn't a great hole either, boring. 13th is ok. 14th tough littered with bunkers (like the 15th on the East).
Best holes 1st. 2nd lovely par 3. 4th is lovely, tricky. 6th lovely par 3. 7th is a nice hole (although in my opinion it's not a par 5). 9th is lovely water all down the left hand side. Keep right. 10th a decent hole.
The walk up the hill from the 10th green to the 11th tee is a joke. Nearly passed out.
15th lovely hole. Better hit straight. 16th lovely par 5 from right to left. Easily scoreable. 17th lovely par 3, tough depending on pin position.
18th par 5. Nice hole, lake down all the left hand side as you approach the green. Managed to get my par.
All in all a nice day out. But the East course was better.
Cheers folks
Good course, nice views, tough walk.
Nice course, lots of variation and challenging holes. Perhaps lacking a signature hole or two, but still very good.
Tough walk at times.
Beautiful location
It's a fabulous golf course. I will play the East course next.
Powerscourt visit
While the booking time was 12.30 it was only possible to play 13 holes before light got so poor that we had to abandon the round. Thus I gave poor value for money given management knows that 18 holes could not been completed on such a poor weather conditions.
Powerscourt East
Played with a member. Not through Golf Now. Not a bad course. I thought it would of been longer. Not much water. 16th hole par 3 is a cracker. A lot of average holes 1st 4th 9th 10th 11th. 12th par 5 nice hole... got a birdie. 13th short par 3. Got par. Nice overall fairly average course. The fairways were full of sand, like playing on a beach. 15th tough hole. Hardest hole on the course for me was the 17th par 5. Cracking hole. 18th very average.
I enjoyed my round overall. Played to my Handicap. Greens are very tough to read. Very fast in places.
7/10... members are not exactly the friendiest. I'm a member of a smaller course. Everyone is friendly. I suppose it's what your looking for in a golf course. Facilities are amazing it has to be said
Didn't mention one hole was closed
Paid for 3 of my friends visiting from America to play this course, as they are part of a society, and wanted to scout potential courses. however, they were seriously disappointed to find the 12th hole was closed for drainage work in the height of the summer. there was no mention of this when booking, or from the pro shop when checking in.
Powerscourt East & West - Must Play!
Played Powerscourt West course for the first time on July 23 2024 and East Course a few days later. The weather was perfect on both days. I am a single digit HCP and I enjoyed both courses very much. The West course is more scenic and the East course is more walker-friendly, however, you can rent buggies for both courses or electric trolleys for reasonable rates. The course, staff, facilities and amenities are top-notch and I was greeted by friendly and courteous staff on both occassions. Definitely recommend this course and hope that all golfers respect pace of play and allow golfers to play through if they have to wait. One more thing, the practice facilities and the range is full sized, so you can truly warm up before your game. Most local Dublin courses don't have a full-sized range and at most you can hit a few balls into a net. The clubhouse has a seating area for visiting guests and an area for club members. Definitely recommend this scenic course if you visit Dublin. Slainte!
Powerscourt West is an amazing course....it's always in great condition tee to green. We had a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed lovely views of the Sugarloaf while plying our skills on the golf course.
Wow
If you are from Ireland or stopping by on your travels Powerscourt Golf Club is a course you should not miss. The views alone are worth the price of admission! Even on a rainy day this course will take your breath away! We played the West course and the entire game brought us from long dog leg par 5's to scenic par 4s and technical par 3s. The views may be breath taking but do not take this course for granted!
Very quick interaction with the very friendly staff at the pro shop but it seemed stocked to the brim with every golfers needs including custom course attire and accessories.
Think about your shots but also enjoy every moment of it! Cannot wait to try the East Course!
Aerated green
Golfnow Customers need to be informed when the greens are aerated because who’s wants to paid to play on aerated greens they are not enjoyable we can go somewhere else instead of wasting our money
Powerscourt East Course - Excellent and Accessible
Played Powerscourt East course for the first time. Beautiful scenic course. The course, staff and conditions were all excellent. The weather was perfect in July 2024. Compared to the West course, the East course is probably less demanding to walk, and it has a cart/buggy path that runs throughout the course, which makes it easier for trolleys or for people using buggies. Decent bathrooms are located on the course. Gavin Hunt, one of the administrators, is very friendly. Well worth a visit. Highly recommend playing both courses. The scenery is incredible!
Beautiful Scenic Course
Played Powerscourt West course for the first time. The weather was perfect. I am a single digit HCP. Everything was perfect except pace of play. There was a group of threesome ladies ahead who were in a competition, so they apologized for not letting me pass, as I was playing solo. However, after 9 holes the tournanment was done but another group of 3 ladies never let me pass, so I had to wait on every hole for the entire round. The course, staff, facilities and amenities are top-notch, without any hint of a snooty atmosphere. Definitely recommend this course and wish that other golfers don't hold you up. I rented an electric trolley for €15 well worth it. Course is hilly, for sure. Cheers!
