Spectacular scenery

Roundwood is a lovely course, with a number of very challenging holes and spectacular views over the East Coast. It's not for those averse to hill walking (you can choose to rent a buggy), as you certainly get a cardio workout. The rough is pretty unforgiving on a few holes and the greens could be better kept, but for the most part it's a wonderful course, full of interesting holes. I play off 18, and would be confident I will play to my handicap now that I'm familiar with the course layout (there are a number of blind greens). I plan to play again in the next few weeks.

Needs attention

One of the worst courses I have ever played. Has the potential to be good but needs attention. The greens are hairier than a vegan German woman. The fairways are poorly cut and in in some cases not at all. You will want a buggy also because even as a fairly fit fella I was blowing towards the end of the round. It's a pity because it's so local to me but I won't be back.

Tricky course great value

The course is well taken care off. Most of the shots are blind shot so for a first time visit. Leave the driver in the bag unless your straight of the tee. You be hard pressed to find a level lie so each shot is a challenge. Beautiful views of the. Mountains and coast line. Best value for the money

Rough and Ready Roundwood

I really like this course not as manicured as other but yet more natural and with that lies its golfing interest because you need a great variety of shots as many holes are blind so positioning your drives is essential.Times you feel you are on parkland then a links which really adds to its charm. The greens are excellent of a very high standard.Overall a great golfing challenge and one I would recommend.

V good course

Well laid out course. Fairways and greens were immaculate. It's a mountain course so if you are not into walking up hills then I suggest rent a buggie. I walked and I struggled to get up to the last few uphill holes.

All in all, an enjoyable day. The views are stunning. Will play again.

Very difficult first time, but will be back

Extremely tricky course its your first time. As mentioned in previous reviews, a lot of blind greens/ flags so course knowledge is essential. For your first round, I'd recommend downloading the Hole19 app which has a map of each hole. Very hilly course with beautiful views and course in good condition. A nice challenge and a course that's a bit different. Would recommend and will be back.

Challenging but I'll be going back

You've got to be driving straight off the tee to give yourself a chance on this course. I wasn't and had to hit a 4 iron, which left me with long irons in. So the course is challenging in that respect.

Some lovely holes but, equally, one or two where without course knowledge you haven't a chance. I'm thinking here of the 4th, 5th, 6th (go short and/or right approaching that green! Everything on the green rolls off left and is GONE) and 15th (what a roll to the left on that fairway; you've got to aim for the right and hope you land short of the trouble that's there).

Lovely holes (imo) include an inviting 1st & 2nd, the 8th, 12th, 14th & 18th. The ones I mentioned above that are tricky are also appealing for the challenge they offer.

My only real 'complaint' is that the course is very sloping on so many of the fairways, but then again you are up a mountain! Also, if there's any wind, it's v challenging unless you're a v competent player.

Lastly, if you're not a fan of blind holes, you might feel a bit frustrated at times. I won't list all the blind holes here, but there's a good few times where it's hard to be sure where to be aiming your second shot (until you've played the course once or twice).

Beautiful views.

Good course for the money

Course has some good and bad features.

THE GOOD

-The course has some great holes that require good course management.

-Views are lovely particularly on the back 9.

-Very friendly staff

-Cheap to play

THE BAD

-The greens are extremely slow

-some very basic holes

-course is very hilly,I would suggest a buggy

-a lot of blind shots and dog leg holes (can be seen as good or bad)

Overall an enjoyable course to play with some challenging holes. For the price it's good
