Raven's Claw Golf Club
About
Located in Limerick Township, Raven's Claw Golf Club is one of southeastern Pennsylvania's best golf and residential communities. It consistently ranks as one of the state's top 10. Carved from rolling hills and mature woodlands, the layout features a variety of different holes. No two holes are alike but they require some creative shot-making abilities. With tight fairways and undulating greens bordered by mounds of rough, the golf course also demands accuracy. The design incorporates links-style elements that present a formidable test. The golf course is undoubtedly challenging but there are also recovery opportunities on each hole, which makes it less daunting for beginners. One of Raven's Claw Golf Club's most memorable holes is the tricky penultimate hole. This unforgiving par-3 has a double-tiered, undulating green with no bailout areas to the left or right. Golfers that hit it short will face a blind second shot.

Nice, but definitley overated
A little pricey, at the 44 dollars I paid on a Friday. Had a really good round on a beautiful 75 degree day. Shot an 83. The only thing to put a damper on it was the slow group two groups ahead of us. The pro shop was called, the ranger came out and talked to them and they actually went slower. There is nothing really great about this course, it was just good.
Challenging course, nice clubhouse, cordial staff. Couse conditions only average.
This course is very challenging from back tees with lots of trouble.Staff is friendly and the clubhouse and food are very nice. However, the course conditions were not great. Greens were a little bumpy and fairways were a little sparse in spots. Good value for golfnow hot deal price of $25 but not at the regular rates.
this will be a regular course for me
Having played many of the courses local to Philadelphia I finally made my way to Raven's Claw. Showed up and there was a mix up in the golfnow booking, but the pro-shop was accommodating and gave no push back whatsoever. Very friendly staff.
Teed off around 2:20PM with just a two-some ahead of my two-some and the pace of play was great. I've heard it gets a bit more crowded at times, but we had no waits and made it around in 4 hours.
The course is both scenic and playable. The tee boxes are marked very well with several yardage stakes per tee area. Tee boxes themselves were in better shape than any of the 5 other courses I've played near Philadelphia recently. You can tell they spend time on maintenance.
Fairways were in good shape, but as can be a problem on public courses divots were not replaced in many areas. That's not on the course, that's a problem with the animals that play golf and don't do their part. I replaced as many of these as i found near my shots and filled some others as it was a shame to see a course this nice not have it's players do their job.
Greens were in nice shape, appeared to maybe have been aerated a month and a half ago and coming along nicely. A little slow on some holes, but overall putts rolled true. The greens were definitely one of the more challenging parts of the course. Not sure there were any completely flat putts in my entire round. Not something I mind though. If I want to just putt straight there are smaller courses with windmills in front of the holes for that.
I'll definitely be back.
very fair course! was semi worth playing once
Thought the course could of been kept in pristine condition. Has some fun holes and some boring ones. Decent course. would prolly play againg with some mid-upper handicap friends. Anyone below a 10 could eat this course up
This course is great.
Heavy rain was in the morning.
But the course was dry in the afternoon.
I could play effortlessly.
This course is one of the best in PA
This was my second time playing this course this year, and both times I have left happy with the conditions and the way the course played. Both times that I have played I was fortunate to get a deal on Golfnow.com, otherwise I would not have played it because $60-80 is far out of my budget right now. If it was was $40-45 I would play regularly. Overall I felt that this course is great. There are many challenges, but thats what I felt made it fun to play on.
Course was in great shape!
The layout of the course is very unique and fun to play. The course was in great shape
It's OK.
Built in a development it has too many odd doglegs. There are Par 5 holes where you don't want to use a driver which is ridiculous.
Very enjoyable, picturesque course.
Great course. One of the best in the area. It didn't hurt that we had a great day.
Also really enjoyed the bar in the club house. Very friendly and the service was excellent. The pricing was also very reasonable.
Overall an excellent day.
Interesting Layout
Raven's Claw lived up to expectations. I have heard great things about this course and they are all true. Well-maintained course with a very interesting layout. Very scenic course especially on the front nine. With five tee positions, this course can be as challenging as you want. Greens are fast and roll true. Easy to see why this course is so highly rated in he state and the country once you play it. The "19" hole is worth a stop too with good sandwiches. I definitely will be back to play again.
Nice layout and a nice course
Play this course often and it has been in very good condition all season. Layout is nice, condition is nice and the staff are nice.
Great Course, great price, great people
Everything about Ravens Claw was great. Got paired up with some golfers who were great. It was nice to have some people who had played the course before as it was my first time. I would have clicked pristine as the course condition but there were a few rough spots. I dont think that should be held against the course because we had some crazy weather in late summer, and just about every course i have played has had some rough edges. My only complaint is not even about the course but with the guy who thought he was a pro and took 5 min for every shot, frustrating being that we were the first group off and i thought we would cruise, 4 3/4 hours later we walked off of 18. Challenging course that i would recommend only to golfers who have experience. If your a weekend warrior hacker, you may want to play somewhere else. If not, make sure you bring a lot of balls
Great, but challenging course
I played early in the morning on a Monday, by myself, leading to the quick round. I also got a great rate from GolfNow.com ($35/cart) which made the experience even better. Course in good shape, but watch out for the cart paths. They are in desperate need of repair.
Too soggy, needs maintenance
Normally this course is in great shape but this time I was not too happy. Quite possibly the rain has hampered their ability to get out and maintain the course, basically cut the grass in the fairway and around the traps. I would not recommend this course now until they have caught up with the maintenance. Even in wet conditions I would expect around the traps and tees could be maintained better. Plus on par threes leave the divot mix near the tee area, even if your not cutting the tee box if you want players to fix their own divots.
Very enjoyable round, had a lot of fun.
Course was just aerated so the price was discounted but it made putting very difficult. Some fairways were a little swampy but the course is a challenging and different course than any others in the area. Played here a bunch of times and its always fun.
Fairways are a mess
No one told me in advance that they were working on the fairways that day with a large tractor- like device pulling plugs of soil out of the fairways. No one was raking the minefield of plugs in the fairway after the tractor was done. Does anyone else think it's an inconvenience not to have a snack shop after the 9th hole?
Green needed fixing
A few of the greens were in bad shape, especially #6, par 3 ...
The hole location was placed in a part of the green which clearly was in bad shape. I dont know why they would put that hole placement there, given the bad shape of that part of the green .. and obviously, that part of the green needs to be fixed.
Overall, was a fun course. The cafe closed before 7pm, which was disappointing as my 4-some was looking to enjoy a beer or two after the round.
Slow late afternoon round, but worth it
We got caught behind Turquoise wearing shirt guy and his short hitting wife along with two 120+ duffers so the round was slowwwww. The course is great and for the after 4:00 rate of $32 on golfnow.com it is a good value.
Greens were perfect
Played in August, 2013. The greens were in as good of shape as I've seen them. Pace of play was good. Tee boxes were a bit shaggy and worn, but the greens were well above average.
Great friendly staff
The course was very enjoyable, changeling but not to difficult, great friendly staff.
