Ridge Golf Course at Pole Creek Golf Club
About
Pole Creek Golf Club is a public 27-hole golf facility in Tabernash, the only one of its kind in Grand County. The holes are divided into three par-36, nine-hole courses, which can be played in different 18-hole combinations. You'll get a different set of challenges on each course but they each provide a classic round of Colorado mountain golf. On no other nine is this more apparent than the dramatic Ridge Course. As its name would imply, the layout features several dramatic ups and downs. Accuracy is key and having a good strategy is equally important. Golfers will also have to contend with tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers along the greens, not to mention the occasional water hazard. The other two nines, the Meadow and the Ranch, are more mellow and approachable.

Fun to Play!
Excellent design taking advantage of the natural terrain. Great variety hole to hole. Excellent condition. Is now my favorite mountain course.
MEADOW / RIDGE
Course is in great condition, only one green (#9 on Meadow) had minor issues that should be corrected in a few weeks. Ridge was spectacular as always. Practice putting green very indicative of play conditions. Pole Creek is challenging but fair. Elevations can be VERY deceptive. Locals have a bit of an attitude but that's their problem...probably has to do with the harsh winters & hibernation...
Really good course!
Even though we played on Oct. 16th and the course had been aerified, it was in amazingly good shape! There are courses on the front range that aren't in as good shape right now as this one. It was still really green and lush with no dead spots in the fairways. We played the Meadows and Ranch combo and the layout and views were terrific. We got a great price on Golfnow and the weather was still perfect. Not many people playing this late in the year, so we played at our own pace, finishing in less then 3 and a half hours. We really enjoyed it and would recommend this place. The only slight drawback was the lady who checked us in wasn't very welcoming and it seemed like we were disturbing her from her real work. The gentleman on the range was very helpful however, asking us if we needed more range balls and telling us where the first tee was for the Meadows course. Overall, a great day golfing in the Rockies!
Just aerated
Love this course. However they just aerated and sanded the greens on the Ridge course. I would wait to play there again until next season. The fairways were pristine. The views are amazing. Lots of fun and challenging holes.
Fantastic Fall Golf!
Fairways and Greens were in excellent condition. The greens were better than carpet. Our group of golfers were a little slow at playing. Partly because the scenery was so nice and partly because they are just slow golfers. The Course Marshall was very courteous, asking us to let two other groups play through. Other golfers were very courteous, as well. An excellent fall course. Thank you Pole Creek for working with GolfNow to provide a great deal, as we traveled several hours to take advantage of it.
Spectacular!
Great Colorado mountain golf, on a perfect late summer day! Grab the great deal and head up.
Great course, fun, hilly
This 9 is less difficult than the Ranch 9 (contrary to the writeup). It has great elevation changes and scenic views. The course is relatively forgiving, although you'll want to play #4 wisely. The yardarge doesn't feel as long as you'd expect from the scorecard. No forced carries make this friendly. You would want to be in good shape to walk this course. The 9th hole is a great way to finish up a good day in the hills, especially in the evening!
Specifics:
#1 It's hard to see the green on the approach, trust the yardage.
#3 don't go long on the approach, since you'll quickly find tall stuff a few yards past with its convexity.
#4 stay right. Left off the tee, beware on the approach of any headwind to get you wet.
#5 the yardage can be 20 yards shorter at the blue & red tees.
#6 it's relatively easy to play in the sand, they seem closer than the 288 on the scorecard. A long shot can skip through all the sand, but you may need to get all of it. It's hard to see the green on the approach unless you get close.
#7 make sure the party ahead gets onto the green, it's pretty short.
#9 gorgeous hole, enjoy!
Great course, challenging
This 9 is the most challenging of the courses at Pole Creek (contrary to the current description). It requires wise shot selection with distance & direction control. The scorecard info isn't always correct (e.g. #6). The tee box distance can vary by 35 yards from the scorecard distance. The course plays shorter than advertised. The tall rough can really swallow your ball. The greens can be very fast!
Specifics:
#1 - it's fairly blind as to pin location until you're pretty close, maybe 175 out.
#3 - be careful going right or long on the approach
#4 - it's closer to the water than it states, especially going right
#6 - it's definitely closer to the water than on the scorecard. 220+ puts you in the water. Missing right on the approach shot risks rolling off the convex landing area into the tall stuff
#7 - blue tee can be 25 y less than on the scorecard and going right leaves little room to land your shot on the convex end of the green.
#8 - it's possible to outdrive the fairway going straight from blue, beware
#9 - definitely don't hook/draw off the tee. Going long on the approach is risky
The food is excellent. The staff is super nice. Bring your golfnow.com receipt!
Wonderful Course
Great mountain course. Excellently maintained. Gorgeous views of the Continental Divide. Very friendly staff. My favorite course in Grand County. An added bonus was the fall colors.
Awesome course
One of the best mountain courses. Moderately challenging from white tees, very challenging from the tips. Great courses, beautiful scenery, wonderful layout, sooo much fun.
Terrific!
What else can I say. The course is in excellent condition. Every staff member I spoke with was kind, courteous, and interesting to talk to. A "10" experience for us.
Too bad Happy Hour is over at 5. Not a soul in the bar. Why not extend it to 6 or closing? We then may have stayed for dinner.
Best golf course
Overall the best golf course in colorado with beautiful views
Golf bikes!
We had golfed at Pole Creek last summer and had a really good time. So, when we found a great deal on Golf Now over Labor Day weekend, we decided to make the drive and play it again. When we pulled up to drop our clubs, that's when we saw them...the golf bikes. Over lunch we talked ourselves into it, and we're so glad we did! We were supposed to play the Ranch, but the Marshall said it was crowded and moved us to the Meadow. The pacing was perfect for us as a twosome, even on the bikes. Hole seven was a bear---we've heard of a dogleg left, but a dog leg left downhill over a lake, followed by an uphill with more leg to the green--pretty much a horseshoe. After we lost two balls apiece, we called it good and split a beer. Good times.
love this course
This is a beautiful course...absolutely love it. The greens are in great shape...the views spectacular and the clubhouse is really nice
If you like mountains you will love this course.
Got behind a very slow group but the marshals responded very quickly and sped them up.
4.6112 stars
beautiful! was a wonderful golfing experience! this facility deserves all the accolades it receives ...not overrated !!!
Worth Getting There
Pole Creek is a typical mountain course but a good 2 hours from the Denver metro area over Berthed Pass. Beautiful scenery, parts are very hilly, rewarded for fairway hits, and penalized for leaving fairway. Course was in great condition, but the weather was cool and drizzly wet for the back nine. I hope to play again if I can get a good Golf Now price again!
Great Course
The course is fair but challenging. Some of the par 4s are long but not out of range if you hit two good average distance shots. The greens are challenging with undulations and some tight pin placements.
The green surface was in great condition with very few marks so no excuses here. The sand traps and bunkers had nice soft sand and no mud like you find on many courses. I look forward to playing again.
By the way, the scenery and wild flowers were top notch!
