Outstanding Course
Very good+ conditions and the weather was perfect. A bit breezy but manageable. The greens are coming out of their plugging and sanding, almost cant tell anymore. A fun course to play.
Happy with choice
Fairly new golfer (4years). My wife and I came down from Indiana and I wanted to play one round in FL just to say I’ve played here. I was not disappointed in my choice of courses. I. Even playing again here before I go home.
It was good for the cost
Showed up to play. First time there. Had to drag out info from the club house. Where to go, where to get cart, how do I get balls for driving range. Everything was pretty normal but I told the guy I had never been there and he kind of acted like I should know everything. The other golfers were good about letting me know where to go. Got to the starter. He was very helpful. Course was ok. Not a high end course by any means(not a high end price either) but the greens were good and the fairways were typical for the price point. Had a really good time. I would do it again.
Play this course every year when I come to visit
Nice muni course. Has some challenge but is forgiving. Always have fun playing it.
Shaping up in Spring 2021
Course grass is really filling in. We played oaks course. Tees and greens are excellent but fairways were full of leaves on the day we played it. That’s my only complaint so we had a wonderful day.
Perfect weather for a quicker than expected weekend round
Good price, good pace of play, generous fairways, perfect weather at a public course
Wide fairways
This is my third time playing on fort walton beach golf course. The Pine course 1 time and the oaks course twice. I really enjoyed playing , wide fairways and very little chance of loosing ball. The oaks was not busy at all, even though it is spring break .
Sunday round
FWB golf course is always a good deal. Price is low and course is in good shape. Oaks course is tighter and more challenging but a little course management and it plays pretty easy. Pines course is more open and an easier layout.
Conditions
Like so many old courses this one is overgrown. Trees impinge on many of the fairways creating bare ground and tight driving corridors. This place could benefit by removing about 500 of them. Overall the fairways are thin with inconsistent grasses and weeds. The big Bermuda greens are lush and slow. I don’t know why they can’t cut them lower. The aprons surrounding the greens were in very good condition, too. There is a decent practice chipping and pitching area with two bunkers. The practice green is enormous and driving range is adequate.
