Trappers Turn Golf Club - Canyon/Arbor
About
The 27 holes of championship golf at Trappers Golf Club are spread across the rolling countryside of Wisconsin Dells, a landscape that was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago. The terrain provided an incredible canvas for course designers Andy North and Roger Packard to work with. They first designed 18 holes, the Canyon and Lake nines and then added the Arbor nine in 2000. The golf courses can be played as three different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon/Arbor Course combines the old and the new. The Canyon is home to Trappers Turn's signature hole, the par-3 seventh, which has an extreme drop in elevation into a small green that sits amidst a glacier-formed canyon but it is not as intimidating a hole as it seems. The scenery continues onto the Arbor nine, which borders the Rocky Arbor State Park.

Golfer Reviews
on the road
When I started there was two three sum's of woman ahead of me. The ranger was very helpful and let me tee off on #2 ahead them. From there on know waiting. And was able to come back and play #1 . very enjoyable afternoon will play again.
Trappers Turn Lake/Canyon
Afternoon play around 3pm 18 holes: Not many people on the course this afternoon. My wife and I completed play in 3 hours 15 minutes. Course from blue tees is challenging especially with firm greens which was the case today. Overall course in very good shape and staff was helpful and friendly. Recommend.
Gorgeous Course, Great Staff, Highly Recommend!
I have golfed this course several times and never fail to be impressed both by the course itself, and the staff. My fiancee' does not golf, but likes to ride along, and the staff is always accommodating of that. They always get us out fast, attend to any of our needs or questions, and are extremely friendly and professional, especially Angel. The course is like a postcard with scenic views in every direction. It is a challenging course, but still very doable for the amateur like myself. Aces all the way!
nice layout
beautiful course with nice layout. Fairways appear to be tighter than they are, but accuracy still a premium. Greens and fairways were rolling very well, despite early season. Will play again when I'm in the Dells area.
Easily a Top 20 course in Wisconsin
The courses and clubhouse are at the top level when compared to all the courses in Wisconsin. I have a hard time paying rack rate anywhere, but this course is kept in very nice condition and the layout and views are spectacular where I could see spending $100 on a weekend in the Dells to play this course. GolfNow Hot Deal prices are absolutely worth it.
Beautiful Course
Trappers has always had friendly and nice people that they hire for years. The course was in excellent condition for this time of year. The facilities are also wonderful. Play it. You will like it.
Great Course
Great course, awesome service would love to play everyday
Somewhat Disappointed!
This was our first time to the course. I heard nothing but good things about the course. We were very impressed with the clubhouse and pro shop area. The driving range was really nice. It was a bit confusing where to tee off, but we eventually got there. We followed a couple. The girl hit 3-4 balls on every hole. That was extremely annoying! She hit 3-4 putts a hole too. As we looked around the course we noticed several groups of five and even a few groups of six. Not much for rules or pace of play on the course. The twosome we followed eventually joined up with a threesome. It was just on one hole, but again they were not even concerned about who was behind them. We got a very good deal on the rate and it was a nice day. The interstate noise was absolutely horrible. I may go back. I will give anyone a second chance. Overall grade B-.
Poor Service
I'll start with the positives. The course was in great condition. The greens were amazing. We used a golfnow "hot deal" so the round was inexpensive. The bar staff was great with our food and drinks.
Negatives: We were given carts with the battery lights on. When we let the staff know this they told us it was no big deal. One cart ran out of power on the 7th hole. The other cart was on it's last legs before it was traded out after nine. The pace of play was disgusting. We made the turn in 2hours 55min. There wasn't a ranger anywhere to be found. The poor golf service we were provided far out weighed the condition of the course. If your are making a trip to the Dells for golf, go to Wild Rock. Much better course and and much better golf experience.
This course does not accomodate Golf Now users
Everything about our time on the course was great, however.
When checking in about 1 hour early 2:00 for a 2:52 tee time we were told that we would have to wait till our tee time to go off since the cousr was filled. Upon checking the 1st tee out we found that the course was actually EMPTY. We proceeded to tee off at 2:15 and never did encounter anyone in front of us and only ha some people 2 holes behind us. I hate being lied to. They also made us carry our clubs up to the clubhouse due to their no carts in the parking lot. This was stated in spite of the 10 carts actually in the lot at that time. They had a mens league on their 3rd nine that apparently has a different set of rules. We felt very unwelcome due to our getting the good rate.
This course is a tremendous value
The course was in terrific early fall shape. If you're looking for a championship course at a value price then you've found it in Trappers Turn. The staff was extremely friendly and I can't wait to go back.
Excellent Course for the Money
We played the Canyon and Arbor for early bird special of $60 with cart. I've played all over the US, and anywhere else, this is over a $100 round. Top notch GPS included in cart and the ranger stresses pace of play. We didn't see the foursome ahead or behind us, so the pace by everybody was good. Course is scenic with plenty of trees and traps to make it challenging and the greens were undulating. Only complaints were that it took 15 minutes to get a hot dog which forced a backup when we started on 10th hole, and even though it did not rain the previous day/night or in the morning, the course was soaked from the sprinkler. I like how green the course was, but poor drainage equals wet shoes and plugged balls all day long.
Wonderful Experience
This was the second time I played the course. First time I played Arbor to Lakes. This time I played Arbor to Canyon. I enjoyed each of the 9s. Wonderful change in scenery. The Course was in excellent shape a few weeks ago. Greens were not as smooth and fast this time but still a wonderful course.
Pick your tee wisely
We played the white tees as I normally would with a course I have never seen.
Should had been hitting irons off the tees driver would go through the fairway or pass the landing zone. Take your time and choose your tees wisely.
Course was lush and flush with water the day we played . The rough is heavy and fairway hard to find as many tee shots are blind.
I will pay more attention to the guidence giving on the GPS on the carts next time I play.
Great Course But Overpriced
Prices are high at this course but it was a great value through Golfnow and would play again at those prices but not for the standard price of $70+. There are other courses in that price range or less I would rather play which is why I would not recommend it. I would recommend others first unless the price was much less.
In agreement with the previous review I felt like we were given the cold shoulder in the clubhouse when they realized we booked our tee time a on GolfNow "hot deal". Maybe Trappers should use their service in the future.
