Trappers Turn Golf Club - Canyon/Arbor
About
The 27 holes of championship golf at Trappers Golf Club are spread across the rolling countryside of Wisconsin Dells, a landscape that was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago. The terrain provided an incredible canvas for course designers Andy North and Roger Packard to work with. They first designed 18 holes, the Canyon and Lake nines and then added the Arbor nine in 2000. The golf courses can be played as three different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon/Arbor Course combines the old and the new. The Canyon is home to Trappers Turn's signature hole, the par-3 seventh, which has an extreme drop in elevation into a small green that sits amidst a glacier-formed canyon but it is not as intimidating a hole as it seems. The scenery continues onto the Arbor nine, which borders the Rocky Arbor State Park.

Great Day
Beautiful weather always makes for a good round but this course is in excellent conditions.
Careful, the greens are INCREDIBLY fast!
Excellent Course for the Money
We played the Canyon and Arbor for early bird special of $60 with cart. I've played all over the US, and anywhere else, this is over a $100 round. Top notch GPS included in cart and the ranger stresses pace of play. We didn't see the foursome ahead or behind us, so the pace by everybody was good. Course is scenic with plenty of trees and traps to make it challenging and the greens were undulating. Only complaints were that it took 15 minutes to get a hot dog which forced a backup when we started on 10th hole, and even though it did not rain the previous day/night or in the morning, the course was soaked from the sprinkler. I like how green the course was, but poor drainage equals wet shoes and plugged balls all day long.
Wonderful Experience
This was the second time I played the course. First time I played Arbor to Lakes. This time I played Arbor to Canyon. I enjoyed each of the 9s. Wonderful change in scenery. The Course was in excellent shape a few weeks ago. Greens were not as smooth and fast this time but still a wonderful course.
Pick your tee wisely
We played the white tees as I normally would with a course I have never seen.
Should had been hitting irons off the tees driver would go through the fairway or pass the landing zone. Take your time and choose your tees wisely.
Course was lush and flush with water the day we played . The rough is heavy and fairway hard to find as many tee shots are blind.
I will pay more attention to the guidence giving on the GPS on the carts next time I play.
Great Course But Overpriced
Prices are high at this course but it was a great value through Golfnow and would play again at those prices but not for the standard price of $70+. There are other courses in that price range or less I would rather play which is why I would not recommend it. I would recommend others first unless the price was much less.
Super staff
Got rained out but was invited to come back and finish up....Great when your on vacation
Fun Course and worth playing!!
This is a very nice course and very fair. The rates are on the higher side but if you look for the deals it's worth playing. I was able to get an awesome deal for my son and I to play. It's over priced if you're paying the regular rate but a great golf course if you're able to get a deal. I based my review on the rate I paid. I played the Arbor to Lakes course. I've been told if you're going to play 18 you want to play the Canyon to Lakes. I did not know this when I made the tee time. Course is manicured beautifully and greens are in great shape.
A must play
Loved it.....love it ...really loved it.......................
Great course and very friendly staffs
We had a golf buddies trip to Wisconsin Dell last weekend and played 3 rounds at Trappers Turn GC. The course was in great shape and the staffs were very friendly. I was very impressed by the manager at the proshop (short guy, sorry, forgot the name :-). The only compliant was there was a beverage cart with 2 girls and they weren't stopping even when we were hitting balls on the tee box. In contrast, there was another cart with just one girl and she was very polite and always waited until we finished hitting balls then approached us. Please note that the GC was close to a major highway and some of holes were a little bit distracting, which we did't mind.
great course
course is the best I have seen and I play it about 6 times a year
Very Well Designed Course
This course is very well designed and maintained.
The Fairways are beautiful, so keep it in the fairway if you want to score well. Just the right amount of challenge for the average to good golfer. Beautiful surroundings and great staff.
Solid layout, greens need attention
I really enjoyed the course, and it was a great value. The approaches allowed for imagination, and the tees shots were a great challenge. As for every course, they punch the greens late in the year, but these greens had an excessive amount of sand on them after punching them. I found sand in every pocket and article of clothing, so much so that it was the running joke in the foursom. I would really like to play this course next year when this wouldn't be an issue, because the clubhouse, layout, and affordability are great.
Classy course, very beautiful.
From the front gate to the GPS electric golf carts, to the great
practice area, to the first tee on the Canyon course this course is a must play. We felt like what it is like to play a classy course.
The first tee on the Canyon course is a beautiful downhill soft dogleg right with a small landing area. Every hole was treat to the eyes, with the awesome fall colors. The course was in great condition, would return anytime. We were taking photos
of each other near the front gate, when one of the staff (I did not get his name, sorry) stopped his car offered to photograph us together. very nice thing for him to take time to do. Thank you.
Beautiful course, great weather, enjoyed ourselfs very much.
T boxes and fairway were excellent. Pro shop execellent.
Tee boxes were in excellent shape, greens were great and fairways were super. Nice GPS and Electric carts.
Great Course
Course was in fantastic shape. Enjoyed the whole round. The pace of play was fine. Our group was slow, not the overall pace of play. One of our guys played very slow and it slows the whole group.
Enjoyable course....not quite as good of condition as in past years.
Play Trappers on annual basis. Fun/fair layout. Course a little bit rough compared to other years. Multiple greens had bad spots (#2 Arbor in very tough shape). Few bad spots in fairways as well. Very playable....but not quite as polished as in past years. Will certainly return.
Good course but a little pricey
The $61 wasn't necessary for this course. The course was very nice, but some of the greens were burned out. The design was creative and the course was fair for most shots. But this is a good $45-50 course.
The greens are in terrible condition.
I want to thank GolfNow for saving me $25.00 over the Trapper's Turn website rate. For a highly rated and expensive course, the greens were terrible. 16 out of 18 were burned around the edges. Several times I had to move my ball so it was on some grass. Depending on who you talked to in the clubhouse, you got different reasons. I am not in a hurry to play there again when there are less expensive courses in better shape in the area.
You will be challenged
Pick your tee box to agree with your skill. Long hitter...go to the back.
Otherwise, white or blue is fine. Most greens guarded. Stay on the fairway and you will have a terrific game. Stray and you will be frustrated!
Visually beautiful; challenging on every level.
Beautifully designed and visually attractive. Course was well-maintained except for one small area of ground under repair on one hole on the Canyon Course.
Look forward to playing it again!
